Control your profitability by managing giveaway and production rates with a 100GW Gross Weigh Scale or 600NW Net Weigh Scale. Both scales offer superior construction and the highest Bagging Automation Automated Palletizing Hamer will meet your bagging requirements with custom engineered solutions. We have low cost palletizers at 6-8 bags per minute (BPM), mid range palletizers and fully automated robotic palletizer systems at 24+ BPM. We designed our palletizer modules to keep costs affordable for virtually any operation, yet flexible to provide the very latest in high speed palletizing automation. Markman Peat Improves Efficiency with Automation their automation partner. “We watched several different types of machinery run, and Hamer was the only company that could hit the aggressive rates we were looking to achieve,” said owner, Brian Sherrick. The Markman Peat Corporation has a long and dynamic history as a significant national producer of premium soil and landscape materials. When the new owners, Jeff Widdop and Brian Sherrick, completed their 2011 purchase of the company, they began researching a variety of actions to position it for growth. In its 40+ year history, Markman Peat’s products have been a reliable mainstay of the lawn and garden industry. During the owners’ analysis of their business, improving packaging efficiency became a focus. After researching various manufacturers and visiting several sites to watch machinery run, they decided to work with Hamer as The plant chosen for the new automated line, in Laporte, Indiana is one of five plants operated by Markman Peat. The Laporte plant already ran several of Hamer’s original bagging machines with manual palletizers, but customer demand for their products required increased capacity. “We had two goals with this system,” commented owner, Jeff Widdop, “increase production and reduce production labor costs.” The new system includes Hamer Model 50 Bulk Hopper, in-feed conveyor, Hamer Model 300VF Volumetric Filler, Hamer Model 2090 Form, Fill and Seal and a Mollers Fully Automatic High-Level, High-Speed Palletizer with an automated inline stretch wrapper. This system consistently produces bags at the rate of 27-30 BPM each day, every day. Cost of production is far less than with their other Hamer semi-automatic lines. Markman Peat has been very pleased with the system and its performance. “From the design and specification process through installation and service support, Hamer has consistently met our expectations for a high degree of service. It’s all about service – in our business and in Hamer‘s,” said owner, Brian Sherrick. Net Weight Scales – the Heart of Bagging Profitability With thousands of net weigh scales in use worldwide, it’s the most overlooked part of any automatic bagging installation. Most net weigh scales in use today were developed over 30-40 years ago. Even recent “new designs” are still based on outdated scale design concepts and don’t offer significant improvements to this important category of bagging technology. Building a better product from the ground up When Hamer designed the Model 600NW Net Weigh Scale we looked at this technology from a whole new perspective. Our 600NW 304 Stainless Steel experience in form, fill and seal automation exposed us to virtually every design of net weigh scale in North America. This is what our customers told us they needed: • Accuracy to reduce product giveaway • Durability of machine parts with less maintenance PAGE 2 • Speed, Hamer scales have speeds of 16 bags per minute on the 100GW and 20-22 BPM on the 600NW • Ease-of-Use, many old designs are confusing to operate We met the challenges our customers presented. The Model 600NW beats all scale designs, hands down. With over 150 units in operation since its launch in 2007, it has become the standard by which all other scales are measured. Here’s why: • Innovative mechanical design dispenses product fast • Proprietary software that runs at twice the speed of most others • More steel, heavier construction. Almost twice the steel of the nearest competitor • Extremely accurate at high speeds. Get more bags filled faster, more accurately and less expensively than other scale designs. New products Meet Jeff Conrad Model 540 Upgrades Hamer’s engineering and service teams improved the functional operation of our Model 540FFS, High-Speed Ice Form, Fill and Seal. As a standard of the packaged ice industry, our team looked to improve uptime, reduce machine wear and simplify operation. The result is over 20 changes and upgrades on the Model 540. All of these enhancements have been in place since October 2013, so now every Model 540FFS we ship is a much better machine. For a complete list of upgrades or Parts Kits Upgrades for the Model 540 and Model 535, contact your ice machine distributor or call us for more information. Exclusive 2nd Settling Station for Mulch We recently introduced a secondary settling device for our Model 2090FFS machine. This device is located in our staged bag area (after we fill a bag). It impacts the bag top by tamping down clumps of material to ensure clean transfer through the bag top sealer. As all mulch and soil manufacturers know, their products don’t always fall into a bag “just right.” The Hamer Model 2090 secondary bag settler reduces bag jam potential, keeping productivity high. Plus, your operator will have more time to manage the line instead of watching the flow of the bagging operation. This new option can be retrofitted on any Hamer Model 2090, just ask for part #17100. Hamer Palletizer Servo Controlled Bag Pick Tool Completed this past year, Hamer now offers a servo controlled bag picking tool that allows for automatic width adjustment from bag to bag. For customers running a wide variety of bag sizes, this tool speeds line change over by eliminating manual adjustment to tool width. In addition, now you can run two in-feed lines, with two different bag sizes AND the robot will know what bag size it’s picking by adjusting automatically! Jeff joined Hamer a little over 2 years ago. He brought with him over 30 years of sales success in two different industries. Prior to joining Hamer, Jeff spent seven years selling power saving and energy conservation solutions to manufacturing companies. Since joining Hamer, he’s been thrilled by the reaction he gets when visiting Hamer customers, “It’s fun to have people walk up to me in a plant, point to my Hamer shirt and tell me they love their Hamer products. From design to service and support, Hamer has earned a premium position in the markets we serve and a place in the hearts of our customers!” Hamer’s expanded line of palletizers and bag placers opens even more opportunity for Jeff to build the Hamer customer family. When not out visiting customers and providing equipment solutions, Jeff enjoys spending time in the wilds of Minnesota, Wisconsin, S. Dakota and Nebraska hunting. Most weekends you can find him off chasing everything from Ducks to Whitetail deer. Stop by Hamer the next time you are in Minneapolis and get a wildlife tour of Jeff’s office!
