Helly Hansen pile retains a layer of air that
insulates against cold. The materials ventilate
to let excess heat and perspiration escape. This
supports your body’s physiology in maintaining the
comfort zone.

Helly Hansen Bodywear is made of polypropylene
that absorbs no moisture. Excess heat and
perspiration is transported away from the body
and prevents the chilling effect when moisture

FR INS suits were developed for the conditions of the offshore
petroleum industry in Newfoundland. Many workers that work
offshore rigs have purchased this garment due to the high
ARC rating, while utilities are also seeing the value in this
product line. FR INS garments are waterproof and extremely
warm in the worst conditions. The fluorescent orange garment
is used in many industries where there is no traffic but it
provides a high degree of visibility in all conditions. Arcxel™
is a fire resistant composite fabric layer system using a
flexible closed cell foam technology. The closed cell foam is an
impermeable material that acts as a wind barrier and is highly
water resistant.

In 1878, Helly Hansen won a prize at the international exhibition in Paris for its waterproof
clothes for fishermen and sailors. We continue our collaboration with fishermen in the Atlantic,
sailors in the Pacific and oil workers throughout Canada. We have a single goal in sight: that
we should always be their first choice when it comes to clothes for extreme conditions.
Our PVC and PU coated garments are designed to give the best freedom of movement in
dangerous working conditions aboard fishing boats and other vessels. We choose materials
which feel comfortable to the skin and which reduce condensation on the inside. The garments

wearer in both daytime and nighttime conditions. The standard sets
requirements for the minimum area and colour performance for
fluorescent background materials and striping for daytime visibility.
The standard also sets minimum requirements for background
materials and reflective striping, which provides nighttime visibility
when illuminated by vehicle headlights. Three garment classes are
established based on the amounts of fluorescent background and

CSA and CGSB markings mean that the product fulfills the
requirements for the relevant product category (FR, High Vis).
This implies no guarantee that the product will prevent accidents

This standard sets out the requirements for high visibility clothing
for road workers in the province of Quebec. This standard defines the
background colour, retroreflection index, width, colour and pattern of
the reflective bands.
Traffic Control must wear safety apparel conforming to Class
3 garments meeting both the CSA Z96 standard and the WCB
requirement. These garments require a fluorescent contrasting
colour stripe that is a minimum 100 mm (4 in.) in width. The retroreflective bands of tape used on these garments are at a minimum
50 mm (2 in.) in width and shall be of a contrasting colour to that of
the background material.

Workwear for protection against hydrocarbon
flash fire
This standard states the minimum requirements for performance of workwear
worn for protection against hydrocarbon flash fire. This standard establishes
performance requirements and test methods for evaluation of components used
to construct workwear. Workwear meeting this standard is intended to provide
a degree of protection to the wearer and reduce the severity of injury should a
hydrocarbon flash fire occur, For the purpose of this standard “protective” does
not mean that a wearer will suffer no burns if exposed to flash fire while wearing
workwear meeting this standard.

This specification establishes applicable test methods, minimum physical and
thermal performance criteria, a suggested sizing guide, and suggested purchasing
information for rain gear for use by workers who are potentially exposed to
industrial hydrocarbon fires or other petrochemical fire hazards.

This test method covers quantitative measurements and
subjective observations that characterize the performance
of single layer garments or protective clothing ensembles
in a simulated flash fire environment having controlled
heat flux, flame distribution, and duration. This test method
is used to provide predicted human skin burn injury for
single layer garments or protective clothing ensembles
mounted on a stationary instrumented manikin which are
then exposed in a laboratory to a simulated fire environment
having controlled heat flux, flame distribution, and duration.
This test method is required as part of ASTM F2733 and
NFPA2112.

Protective clothing - Protection
against heat and flames Material and material
combinations for limited spread
of flame
This European Standard specifies performance
requirements for limited flame spread materials and
material assemblies used in protective clothing. Protective
clothing constructed from materials and material
assemblies complying with this European Standard is
suitable for protection against accidental contact with
small igniting flames, in circumstances where there is no
significant heat hazard. Three levels of performance are
specified. lndex 1 materials do not spread flame but may
form a hole on contact with a flame. lndex 2 materials and
material assemblies do not spread flame and do not form a
hole on contact with a flame. lndex 3 materials and material
assemblies do not spread flame and do not form a hole on
contact with a flame, they also produce limited afterflame.

Workplace electrical safety
This standard is the Canadian equivalent of the NFPA®
70-E. The development of this standard was based on the
NFPA® 70-E with changes being made of Parts I, II and III to
harmonize requirements with the Canadian Electrical Code.
Like the NFPA® 70-E this standard also defines hazard
risk categories based on the arc performance ratings
and categorizes the protective clothing required for each
category.

Workplace electrical safety
This (U.S.) standard addresses electrical hazards in the
workplace for employees working on or near energized
parts. One of the primary objectives of NFPA® 70E is to
provide a guide for employers to determine the appropriate
amount of protection given to workers based on the
potential hazards to which they could be exposed. An arc
flash is a life threatening risk for employees working around
energized parts.

Standard test method for
determining the arc rating of
materials for clothing
This test method is used to measure the arc rating of
materials intended for use as flame resistant clothing for
workers exposed to electric arcs that would generate heat
flux rates from 84 to 25 120 kW/m2 [2 to 600 cal/cm2s].
Standards Terminology
Arc Rating - is a value that describes a materials
performance when exposed to an electrical arc
discharge. It is expressed in cal/cm² and can be derived
from either the ATPV (Arc Thermal Performance Value)
or the Ebt (Breakopen Threshold Energy) whichever is
lower.
ATPV – Arc Thermal Performance Value is defined as
the incident energy that results in a 50% probability of
the onset of a second degree burn.
Ebt - Breakopen Threshold Energy is defined as the
incident energy on a material or material system that
results in a 50% probability of breakopen.
Breakopen – in arc testing, the formation of one or
more holes in a material that may allow thermal energy
to pass through.
HAF – Heat Attenuation Factor is the percentage of total
energy that the fabric has prevented from reaching the
panel sensors.

HISTORY
Since we began making performance clothing in 1877 our
products have been tested in the most extreme conditions on
earth. We have been on both Poles, all oceans and the highest
peaks in the world. Throughout, we’ve stood behind every
product we’ve made. Today that tradition remains unbroken.
FIRST ORDERS
Initial orders will be held until a credit line has been approved.
Applications must be made on the form provided by Climate
Technical Gear, or through Climate Technical Gear online
application process. Since it could take two weeks to check
credit references, immediate shipments can be made C.O.D., by
credit card or with pre-payment of the order.
FREIGHT
All orders are shipped F.O.B. Dartmouth, N.S. or Surrey B.C.
PAST DUE ACCOUNTS
A service charge of 1.5% per month will apply to all overdue
balances. In addition, shipments will be held for customers
whose accounts are past due.
SMALL ORDER CHARGE
Due to the high cost of order processing all orders with a value
of less than $200 will be assessed a service charge of $20.
Back orders will be exempt from this charge.
CREDIT LINE
Credit limits will be established for each account and may be
reviewed from time to time upon request. Should a customer
exceed the credit limit, orders will be held until the customer’s
credit line is brought up to date or approval has been given to
increase the credit line limit.

If you have questions or need to return defective product please

for a Return Authorization number.

Merchandise shipped as ordered may not be returned without
an authorization number from the Dartmouth Office. After 30
days from date of shipment No Returns will be accepted. All
returns within 30 days will only be accepted freight prepaid. All
such merchandise returned will be subject to a 20% restocking
charge if the items are in original packaging, which is not
damaged or marked. Should the items require repackaging a
30% restocking fee will apply. No returns will be accepted on
discounted, discontinued, or irregulars.

NOTE
All returned garments must be washed prior to their return or
they cannot be inspected. Customers should enclose a note
specifying the warranty problem and /or the location of the
problem on the garment, as well as list specifics regarding style
colour and size. The Return Authorization number should be
written in large letters on the outside of the package.The
Climate Technical Gear Warranty Department will inspect the
product at no charge to you. If the Warranty Department
determines, in its sole discretion, that the product has a defect
covered under this warranty, we will repair, replace or issue a
credit. If the defective garment is not repairable and an identical
product is not available, we will replace it with a garment of
comparable style and colour at our discretion.
Return authorizations not received within 30 days of issuance
will be void and cancelled. Products purchased as irregulars/
discontinued will not be authorized for return.
ORDER DISCREPANCIES
Discovery of discrepancies on your order must be reported to
Climate Technical Gear Customer Service within 30 days of
invoice date. All requests must be accompanied by complete
invoice numbers. A request received after 30 days will not be
accepted.
DAMAGED SHIPMENTS
Inspect all shipments carefully. Verify the total number of
cartons and check for exterior carton damage. All claims for
lost or damaged shipments must be made directly to the
delivery carrier. Climate Technical Gear is not responsible for
damage during shipment.

• Fasten all Velcro® closures before washing
