ABSTRACT
 The development of Philippine agritourism
needs a strong linkage between the
tourism and agricultural industries.
 Components that promote cooperation
between the two sectors, as observed
from local and international practices, will
be presented.
 Findings on the merits and further needs of
selected cases from the Philippines in
Aurora, Bohol, Cavite, Davao, Ilocos
region, and Leyte, are highlighted.

Future prospects are projected from the
success of model farms, and community
enterprises with improved infrastructure,
security, marketing, and support.
Different perspectives on agritourism will be
presented, based on the author’s various
experiences and research.
 These will include views on the relationship of
agritourism to biodiversity, heritage and
environmental conservation, utilization of
Philippine flora and establishment of more
public parks, community farms, festivals,
heirloom foods and healthy cuisine, and
advances in information technology.

LEARN FROM ITALY
The present Italian legal
framework governing “Regulation
of Agritourism” is Law
No. 96/2006 which has its roots in
the fundamental 1980s text (Law
No. 730/1985)
Agritourism (Bianchi 2011)
analysed from a multifunctional
perspective, aimed at safeguarding the
integrity of natural resources and also at
enhancing socio-cultural aspects andthe
oeno-gastronomical heritage of specific
rural areas.
 is then identified as a product innovation à
la Schumpeter and an interesting
diversification of farm productive activities.

Agritourism a product
innovation (Bianchi 2011)
“Agritourism plays an emblematic role in
the passage from agricultural to rural, or
alternatively from a model of an intensive
and sectoral agriculture to a model of
territorial development which is
endogenous, multifunctional and locally
sustainable.”
