Friday September 19TH -The hall will be open at 1pm until 8pm for the assembling of exhibits. All
exhibitors from a distance are allowed to place exhibits until 8:30am Saturday, September 20th.
(Entry forms for poultry and rabbits should be received prior to September 12th)

TO OUR FRIENDS
The McDonalds Corners Agricultural Society Executive Members and Directors are pleased to invite
you to our 161st Fall Fair. The Fair will be held on Saturday, September 20th 2014. The Society has
been active since 1853, back to when Canada was becoming the wonderful nation it is now. Over this
long time span it has taken a lot of dedicated volunteers to keep the Society active, and is only kept
going now with the hours our volunteer workers contribute.
Special thanks to Clara Rockburne who is retiring from the position of Homecraft Director and
welcome aboard to Erla Horton who has taken on the role.
For all the hours given to the Society by our Volunteers, Helpers, Directors, and Executives :
WE SINCERELY THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. An annual subscription of five dollars ($5.00) or upwards shall constitute the subscriber a member of the society.
2. All articles for exhibition in the hall must be in place by 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20th. Exhibitors intending to bring hall
exhibits in the morning must have entry tickets placed on the articles beforehand. There will be no tickets written in the morning except
for the livestock. This rule will be strictly enforced.
3. All entries must be on the printed form found at the back of this book or a photocopy thereof. Entry forms for poultry or rabbits are
to be filled in and received by the Secretary no later than September 12TH . Parties from a distance can make a list of their entries and
forward it to the Secretary by mail or email at [email protected] . This rule will be strictly enforced.
4. Each exhibitor will enclose the $5.00 subscription fee with the entry form.
Each horse entered requires a $1.00 entry fee. Each bird and rabbit requires a 50 cent entry fee.
5. The treasurer will sum up the prizes and accounts before paying any prizes and shall then pay in proportion to the receipts of the
Fair which may be 100%of the dollar. 100% will be paid if possible up to $100.00 and over that the amount of the prizes will be paid at
80%. NO PRIZE MONEY CAN BE AWARDED UNLESS AN ENTRY FORM HAS BEEN FILED WITH THE SECRETARY.
6. Any exhibitor removing their goods or stock from hall or grounds before 4:00 p.m. on the day of the Fair will forfeit their prizes.
7. Any exhibitor wishing to sell an entry may do so at 4:00 p.m. on the day of the Fair.
8. Any exhibitor winning an article of merchandise is requested to pick up the prize from the Secretary on the day of the Fair.
9. All cheques issued by the Society must be cashed within 30 days from the date of issue. Also, all values must picked up by
November 30th. Watch for the expiry dates on the vouchers.
10. No person shall be allowed to interfere with judges while they are discharging their duties. Exhibitors who interfere will forfeit
their rights to any premiums to which they may other wise be entitled. A director will accompany each class of judges and point out
where goods and articles are located.
11. Judges shall have the power of withholding the premium when they consider the animal or article undeserving of one.
12. Besides the regular prizes, a liberal sum will be set aside as discretionary prizes for anything deemed worthy of such by the Judge.
13. No mark, initial, or name will be made on any article or upon any bag, box or vessel containing an exhibit.
14. No animal will be allowed to compete in more than one entry in any section EXCEPT for a special prize
15. No exhibitor will be allowed to make more than one entry in any section EXCEPT for special prize.
16. All cattle must be haltered and led into the cattle yard and properly secured and not allowed to roam at large within the enclosure.
17. All parties neglecting or refusing to properly secure their cattle on the day of the Fair will forfeit their prize(s).
18. All cattle must be led out to the grounds for judging.
19. All parties exhibiting purebred stock must produce pedigree to the Judge on the day of the Fair.
20. All stock and other articles to be exhibited must be the bonafide property of the exhibitor.
21 .All animals or articles not having entry tickets displayed will be passed over by the Judge.
22. No horse or article will be allowed to remain on the grounds except those being exhibited.
23. All grains must be grown in 2011.
24. All stock for competition MUST BE ON THE FAIR GROUNDS BY 9:00AM on the day of the Fair.
25. Judging of horses (both Heavy and Light) will commence at 10:00AM
26. HORSES : NO STALLIONS , EVERY HORSE ON THE GROUNDS NEEDS PROOF OF INSURANCE TO SHOW
HEAVY DRAUGHT: Horses should conform in type to the breed which they represent. A mature animal should weigh 1700 lbs and
upwards – mares 100 to 200 lbs lighter than geldings.
AGRICULTURAL –Horses should conform closely in type to the draught horse, but on a smaller scale and should weigh from 1400 to
1700 lbs.
GENERAL PURPOSE–Horses should conform in outline to the Coach Carriage or Hunter type, but should be larger and stronger and
able to do work satisfactorily in wagon, plow, buggy or saddle. They should be clean-limbed, without excessive hair on the legs and be
able to travel 7 mile per hour. Horses showing draught conformation should not be included in this class. They should weigh less than
1400 lbs and the minimum height should be 15 hands.
27. The Society will not be responsible for any loss, damage or accident occurring to any person or property on the grounds during the
Fair.
The Society will take all reasonable care of exhibits but will not be responsible for any loss or damage.

Eligibility Rules and Regulations:
General Conditions:
A. Quilt/Wall Hanging must be solely made and machine quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and
judged at a local Ontario Association of Agricultural Society (OAAS) Fair to be eligible for this
competition.
B. Quilt/Wall Hanging to measured on the perimeter. Total perimeter measurement to be a
minimum of 192 inches. Note the article can be square, rectangular etc.
C. Judging will occur at local fairs and district levels. A Provincial Grand Champion Machine
Quilted Quilt/Wall Hanging will be selected at the Annual OAAS Convention.
D. Upon making an entry into the OAAS Machine Quilting Competition, the Exhibitor agrees to
participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
E. The winning OAAS Champion Machine Quilted Quilt/Wall Hanging will not be eligible to
compete in any future District and/or OAAS provincial competition.
F. The winner’s name to be displayed at the Fair on a sign provided by OAAS.

ENTRY RULES
01. “Promoting Your Fair” – Name and date of fair must be clearly shown on poster.
02. Must be hand drawn.
03. Poster size: Minimum – 8 ½” X 11” (23cm X 28cm), without border
Maximum – 11” X 17” (28cm X 44cm), without border
04. Each entry must be centered on a CARDSTOCK or BRISTOL BOARD exposing a 2” border
on all four sides.
05. Name of fair, district, contact person, owner of poster to be clearly labeled on the back of each
entry (to be done after judging on the day of the fair – for district competition)
06. The winning poster from each class at each fair will be eligible to enter the district competition.
District winners are eligible to enter at the provincial competition.
CLASS 44B
