Welcome to Chinatown - Chinatown Melbourne
Welcome to Chinatown Melbourne’s Chinatown has been an integral part of the City of Melbourne since the goldrush days of the 1850’s. It’s one of Melbourne’s distinctive and iconic precincts, and importantly, the longest continuous Chinese settlement in the Western World. The Chinatown Precinct Association Inc., with over 400 businesses is centered around Little Bourke Street’s northern end (between Swanston to Spring Streets and Bourke to Lonsdale Streets including all the laneways). The Chinatown Precinct Association Inc. is recognized as the Precinct Representative Organisation by the City Of Melbourne who assists the Association and its Members in promoting the Chinatown area. Chinatown is dominated by restaurants from fine dining to lane way and arcade noodle houses. Chinatown is home to a number of Asian grocery stores, Chinese medicine and herbalist centres, bookstores, fashion boutiques and other selected retailers in arcades such as The Target Centre, Midcity Arcade and the Paramount Centre. 36 36 34 36 36 Chinatown is also home to some of the best accommodation you’ll find in Melbourne, City Limits Boutique Hotel, Crossley Hotel, Somerset Gordon Place, Somerset Gordon Heights, Rydges Melbourne, Punthill Apartments and Mantra on Russell. True to its name and predominantly of Chinese ethnicity, you’ll find Melbourne’s Chinatown is truly cosmopolitan offering a myriad of cuisines like Thai, Japanese, Indian, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Korean, and contemporary Euro-Australian to tempt you. You’ll discover some great Karaoke places and small intimate laneway bars too! We hope Chinatown and our Members can contribute to your enjoyable and fruitful visit to the City of Melbourne, whether it be for business or pleasure. 14 14 10 33 28 CHINESE MUSEUM 33 33 31 Visit our website for latest updates and information on our Pop Up Chinatown Treats 99 19 11 11 27 27 22 88 6 12 11 66 4 29 29 31 31 27 QV QVVILLAGE VILLAGE QV VILLAGE 28 28 24 19 19 23 23 12 12 8 15 15 22 22 18 32 32 24 24 30 20 MID MIDCITY CITY 35 35 MID CITY ARCADE 32 ARCADE ARCADE 15 88 7 2 VILLAGE VILLAGECENTRE CENTRE 29 10 10 17 17 14 16 16 13 TARGET TARGETCENTRE CENTRE 34 34 26 The newly contemporary designed Dragon Boat Restaurant features two dining levels with a covered balcony overlooking Little Bourke Street, making the upper level most desirable for functions and party bookings.
