Pro Camp Counselors John Williamson John is a native of Columbus, OH and University of Cincinnati standout. He’s a great finisher around the rim, versatile, very athletic, and likes to rebound on the offensive glass. During his collegiate career at Cincinnati, he was named the team’s Most Valuable Player, led UC in rebounds and was the team’s second-leading scorer. He also finished third in the BIG EAST in offensive rebounding and ninth overall. He has continued his professional basketball career internationally in Venezuela, Finland, Australia, Sweden, and the Philippines. 2014 JUNE 21ST, SPORTONE FIELDHOUSE Sakellie Daniels Sakellie is a professional basketball player that reigns from Raeford, NC. After a successful high school career, she went on to compete at UNC Charlotte on a 4 year athletic scholarship. She was in the 2006 WNBA Draft but after going undrafted she later signed her first pro contract to play for Leipzig Eagles in Germany. After the 2006-2007 season, she decided to take off to Nyon, Switzerland. She played in Nyon for 3 consecutive seasons from 2007-2010. She also assisted in coaching a youth girls team in 2009. After her season, upon returning home she suffered an ACL and meniscus injury in a summer league. This injury kept her out of the 2010-2011 season due to surgery and rehab. She has returned to the court to do what she loves and has continued her career as point guard for Vilnius-MRU. Kevin Melson Kevin Melson is a standout professional basketball athlete from Detroit, Michigan. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan. Within just one year of college, he led the nation in scoring with 28.7ppg, was a Junior College All-American, and led Schoolcraft to its first ever national “Top 25” ranking. After being recruited by several colleges, Kevin chose Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He received many accolades including MCC (now known as Horizon League) Newcomer of the Year, three-time All-MCC First Team, Wright State Athlete of the Year, and also a win over Michigan State, who would eventually become NCAA National Champions. Kevin graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and soon after began a ten year professional basketball career in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and a few other countries. Our mission is to challenge natural ability and motivate athletic excellence which in turn fosters self-confidence, leadership, and personal growth. Always 100 summer programs include: individual basketball workouts, summer basketball academy, Always 100 Pro Camp, two AAU basketball summer teams, and the annual Charity Challenge. There is also support allocated to the Always 100 Scholarship Foundation and to sponsor uniforms and equipment for Vernard’s late father’s, Tharnell Hollins, Metro Sports football team. The Always 100 motto is to give 100% at all times and the focus is to help kids remain active and productive keeping them focused on positivity, as opposed to being attracted to distraction. About Vernard Hollins “Nard” Hollins, Always 100 President/CEO, was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and attended Bloomingdale Elementary, Lane Middle, and North Side High School. He has received various basketball accolades including All-SAC recognition, All-State Honors, the Tiffany Gooden Award, as well as participation in the Indiana All-Star Game amongst the state’s elite players. Vernard went on to play basketball on the collegiate level at Wright State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. Upon graduation, he began to explore a professional basketball career on an international stage in Mexico, Germany, Macedonia, France, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary, and Austria. Some of his highest professional acknowledgments include a career high of 59 points while in Mexico, leading his team to the first ever Hungary Cup Championship, making the Hungarian All-Tournament Team, and was also honored as Switzerland’s Player of the Year. In the summer of 2011, Always 100, Inc. was established as a nonprofit triggering the development of the “Always 100 Basketball Academy”, which conducts pro-level, high-intensity group and individual workouts with area youth and high school teams. He was also able to publish a biographical book: The Disease Didn’t Kill the Dream and has been a featured motivational speaker at various youth conferences and forums. His ultimate goal is to continue allowing an exceptional basketball experience with minimal costs obligation to parents of our area youth. Through numerous partnerships and donors, he is able to inspect, direct, and correct area athletes as they give “Always 100”.. 2014 Always 100 Pro Camp (Open to girls and boys in 3rd-12th grade) June 16th thru 19th Are you ready to take your game to the pro level? Always 100 Pro Camp 2014, a four day, all-encompassing experience, will inspect, correct, and direct the most dedicated players pushing them to excel both on and off the court. Sessions include high level skill drills, interview/media training, social networking session, intro to SAT prep, pro player/WNBA training with Q&A panels, meet our special guests, learn the secrets of watching game film. There will be team activities such as swimming, movie night, gaming challenge, and Crazy Pinz! Camp dates are June 16th-19th, 2014 for athlete’s in grades 3-12. Gear included with each student registration will be the athlete’s exclusive Always 100 shirt, athletic shorts, and brand new Adidas basketball shoes. Registration costs for participants taking advantage of deluxe hotel accommodations with meals will be $380 and without lodging the fee is just $320. Team rates and payment plans are also available. Space is limited so register today online at www.always100basketball.com Click on PRO CAMP Guest Speaker Ron Howard Howard then played in Mexico’s CIBACOPA league earning a trip to their All-Star game and a championship win with Trigueros de Ciudad Obregón in 2007. He played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA D-League earning a trip to the 2010 D-League All-Star Game. He averaged 16.3 points at 49 per cent, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in three years with Fort Wayne but his numbers in his All-Star 2009-10 season were 20.6 points at 46 per cent, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists. At the conclusion of the 2009-10 D-League season, Howard signed to play for Venezuelan club Marinos de Anzoátegui helping them to the Venezuelan LPB finals. As one of the top 10 scorers in the D-League for the 2009–10 season, Howard earned himself a spot in the Milwaukee Bucks training camp where he was one of the final players cut from squad. Howard almost never made it to the Adelaide 36ers though after narrowly missing out on joining the Bucks, he was then signed by the New York Knicks but joined Adelaide before he could make an appearance. Guest Speaker Bonzi Wells Bonzi is a professional basketball player who played college basketball at Ball State University and was drafted in the 1998 NBA Draft. In the NBA, Wells played for five teams from 1998 to 2008: the Portland Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and New Orleans Hornets. Camp Counselors Henry James Henry James is a retired NBA player from Fort Wayne, IN who attended North Side High School. He played collegiate basketball at St. Mary’s University in Texas and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998. The 6’8” forward gained NBA presence when he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the “90-91 season. He has played with several NBA and CBA teams throughout his career. As a member of the Atlanta Hawks, he hit a record-tying seven threepointers in one quarter against Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. James has played 211 NBA games, averaging 6.1 points per game and shooting 41 percent from the field. Though faced with some unfortunate setbacks and hardships in the past, James has overcome and is a testament to difficult life lessons. He anticipates assisting with player development and sharing his own NBA fundamentals as a specialized trainer with the Always 100 staff. He will be a great addition to our team! Amanda Lassiter Amanda is a professional basketball player currently playing in France. After graduating from George Washington High School in San Francisco, Lassiter attended college at University of Missouri and graduated in 2001. Following her collegiate career, she was selected 15th overall in the 2001 WNBA Draft by the Houston Comets. She has also played for the Seattle Storm, Minnesota Lynx, and Chicago Sky. Brandon McKnight Brandon attended South Bend’s LaSalle High School, where he was runner-up in Indiana’s Mr. Basketball voting. He is a Purdue University stand-out who scored 783 points while adding 271 assists in 101 games as a Boilermaker, has played three seasons in Turkey, three in Sweden and one in Israel.
