Montréal - Opération Enfant Soleil
Your donations at work in Montreal in 2014 Miracles big and small for children in your region Each week, a large number of children receive care at a hospital in their own region, and thousands of others are treated in one of the province’s four major paediatric centres. 1 Over the years, Opération Enfant Soleil has distributed over $180 million to these hospitals for the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and technologies. We invite you to take a look at the amounts distributed in Montreal in 2014 thanks to the generosity of donors and the devotion of our volunteers and partners. These grants will help ensure children are able to receive treatment close to home or return home as quickly as possible after treatment. Because little miracles don’t happen on their own... we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support! Ginette Charest Chief Executive Officer Little miracles don’t happen on their own • To date, over $100,600,000 has been distributed in your region in order to offer children the best care. • Every day, 810 children in your region receive care in one of Quebec’s four major paediatric centres, for a total of 295,757 visits by children each year. 2 The story of David, your Enfant Soleil “David has cerebral palsy from a stroke he had during the pregnancy. Over the years, we received a number of diagnoses: epilepsy, visual impairment, gastroparesis, severe disphagia, a severe language disorder, scoliosis, moderate to severe intellectual disability. To improve his quality of life, we sent David in for major surgery to separate the hemispheres of his brain and to remove about a third of his right hemisphere. The surgery was done in the intraoperative MRI room at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, which was funded by Opération Enfant Soleil. The results were miraculous! Grants from Opération Enfant Soleil change lives. Every time you make the tally at the Telethon go up, it’s like you are giving directly to David. Thank you!” Nathalie Richard, mother of If you are viewing the electronic version of this document, click this icon to see pages and videos from Opération Enfant Soleil’s website. French only. 1.
