original blue cloth with gilt, t.e.g., a little bubbling to cloth at edge of spine, light foxing, VG, signed on the front
endpaper by Geoffrey Laidlaw Bartrum. A bright attractive copy. This copy belonged to Geoffrey Laidlaw Bartrum,
1881-1960, who was a prominent and active member of both the Alpine Club and the Climbers Club. His first
Alpine season was 1908, in Arolla and Zermatt, and included a traverse of the Aiguilles Rouges, the Pigne by the
North Face, the Matterhorn, Dent Blanche and others, often climbing with Joseph Knubel. This is an excellent
association copy as Bartrum was a member of Abraham's party to Skye in 1904 and his name appears a number
of times in the text. There is a postcard of the Quiraing tipped in the book which Bartrum sent from Skye to Eva
Bartrum in 1918. It is also interesting to note some minor annotation in the text which was likely made by Bartrum
as the dates are Aug 1918. A definitive Scottish climbing title. Third part of the classic Jones-Abraham trilogy.,

2 hours 22 minutes.
Alpine Exposures, mountain sports photographer Jon Griffith presents over ten years of breathtaking photography
in the Western Alps. Written in English, French and German languages. Alpine Exposures takes the reader on a
tour of cutting edge climbs deep in the heart of the Alps' most celebrated mountains. True to Jon's work ethic the
book only shows photos taken in real situations in order to offer readers an in-depth experience of the world of
extreme mountain sports. Featuring shots from around the European Alps from the Eiger North Face to Mont
Blanc, there are detailed captions accompanying every shot.
The book is a photographic guide to the Alps' most beautiful climbs, ski descents, and flying terrains, and will
inspire the reader to add a few more climbs/descents to their tick list. Over the last ten years, Jon Griffith has
established himself as one of the world's leading mountain sports photographers. A highly accomplished alpinist,
he continues to push himself to shoot that which has never been shot before. This approach has taken his
climbing and photography to a level that sees him regularly work with climbers such as Ueli Steck and embark on
cutting edge scents in the Alps, Patagonia, Alaska and the Himalaya.

Putting South Georgia On The Map by Alec Trendall
Although South Georgia was visited with increasing frequency after its
discovery by Captain Cook in 1775, and was for a long time a busy base for
the sealing and whaling industries, a properly surveyed map of the island was
not published until 1958. That map resulted from a series of small privatelyorganised expeditions – the South Georgia Surveys – initiated and led by
Duncan Carse. Alec Trendall, who served as geologist with the South Georgia
Surveys of 1951-52 and 1953-54, tells for the first time the full story of Carse's
expeditions to South Georgia in the 1950s.
