welcome
Welcome to the second annual
TecHome Builder Summit.
We’ve been busy at AE Ventures, taking the advice of last year’s Summit
keynoter, Roy Spence. We’ve really worked to identify and sharpen the
purpose of each of the events we produce. For the TecHome Builder
Summit our purpose is very straightforward—to be the tech strategy
event resource for high-volume builders.
Having—and continually refining—a
technology strategy is essential for today’s
builders. Homebuilding has always been
about more than simple shelter. It’s about
lifestyle. And all you need are eyes and ears
to understand that today’s homebuyers are plugged in and
connected like never before.
Technology is key to winning the business of both of the key demographic cohorts builders are
targeting—Millennials and Boomers. Technology helps builders win the market share battle versus
used homes. Technology can enable a more long-term, sticky relationship with homebuyers that
can turn them into lifelong customers, create new revenue and profit streams and help transform
the builder’s business model from boom-bust to steady cash-flow.
The program we put together for this year’s Summit speaks to these issues, and the vendor
sponsors we have assembled can provide the products, programs and sales/implementation advice
you need to bring your technology strategy to life.
Time, tide and technology wait for no man. Expand and enrich your technology offers and reap the
rewards that go to real market leaders.

Speakers: Andrea Medeiros, Editor, TecHome Builder; Steven Withrow, Editor-in-Chief, TecHome
Contractor; Barbara Friedman, Project Consultant, Legacy Design Build Remodeling
The TecHome of today is so much more than home automation, AV systems and signal connectivity.
Every subsystem in the home is getting smarter, easier to communicate with and easier to control.
And it’s not just about the inside but also the outdoor spaces of the home. In this session we’ll help
builders understand both the complete canvas on which technology plays and the full palette of
technology products and their benefits for the homeowner. You’ll learn how to leverage this more
comprehensive version of the TecHome to sell more homes at better prices and for more profit.
4:00PM - 5:30PM | Afternoon Presentation
Using Tech to Win the Hearts, Minds and Wallets of
Millennials & Boomers
Speakers: Steven Koenig, Director of Industry Analysis, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) &
Tim Costello, President, BDX
What are the two biggest homebuying cohorts looking for in their home tech and, more importantly,
how can home tech be used to pry them away from an existing home buy? In this session, you’ll
learn the keys from a leading marketer in the homebuilding industry and a research analyst who lives
and breathes consumer electronics market data. They’ll discuss creative tech offers and marketing
messages that you can put to work.

The massive Internet of Things trend is driving sensing, communication and control technologies
into nearly every system and product within the home — creating new opportunities to improve
the efficiency and performance of homes and to add comfort and convenience for homeowners.
In this session, we look not only at what’s going to be smart or smarter in the home but also at
how builders can team with monitoring and managed services providers in the cloud to cash in on
the trend.

Without solid approaches to designing and building technology into homes and servicing these more

service providers can not only ensure high levels of homebuyer customer satisfaction but also create
new streams of revenue and business intelligence.

Turbo Charged Tech Marketing & Sales: Get More with
Aggressive Standards and Upgrade Paths

•
And creative and methodical marketing and selling
In this session one of the building industry’s foremost experts in options and tech selling will share

collective wisdom of some of the brightest minds in the connected home space to provide the details

and deliver it in reality to the delight of your customers? We’ll provide the answers that will set you
on a mission to use the ideas, information and contacts made at the Summit as a springboard to
becoming a TecHome “master builder.” Special appearance by the Kool-Aid Man and exotic, spiked
