Classrooms don`t always have walls! Are You
 We have general focus curriculum.
 We have traditional views on how people should treat
one another.
 We are EXTREMELY purposeful about culture - peer
culture is a major focus. We believe it is way too
important to leave to chance.
 Students must pass a character grade in order to pass
each class.
 At least 15 hours of service is required of every student
each year.
About Harborside Academy
History - The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and
their “Delta Project” decided to fund a new high school in
Kenosha, one of 20 new high schools throughout the
country. Harborside Academy, like all schools that are a
part of the Delta Project, uses the Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound (ELOB) model. ELOB schools combine rigorous academic content and real world projects,
learning expeditions, with active learning and community
service. In 2012, Harborside Academy merged with
Paideia Academy, a charter middle school.
With so many choices for high school, you want to make
sure the school you choose is a good fit for you. Harborside
Academy is an Expeditionary Learning school that offers a
college preparatory, general focus curriculum. At Harborside, students do more than listen to lectures and answer
questions out of a textbook. Instruction is based on active
teaching methodology with traditional learning.
What is Expeditionary
Learning?
Students at Harborside work
both independently and in
groups to find answers. They
are active participants in
learning expeditions. Expeditionary Learning is learning
standards carefully organized
into highly compelling topics.
They include field work, expert speakers, service learning,
culminating with professional quality products. Through hard
work and perseverance, they learn that there is more in them
than they think.

At Harborside, adventure education, active pedagogy and field
work all play an important role in our instructional model, and in
our purposeful commitment to maintaining a positive culture.
To start each year, all students participate in a grade level camp
