OCC Foundation Annual Report 2013
2013-2014 Annual Report
Olney Central College Foundation
Equipment will enhance new Collision Repair facility
Students in the Collision
Repair Technology Program
at Olney Central College
are utilizing new equipment purchased with funding from the OCC
Foundation.
The Foundation provided
$5,500 enabling the program to acquire an aluminum dent puller and
nine new parts caddies.
Instructor Mark Fitch
said it is essential for students to gain experience
using the aluminum dent
puller before they enter the
workplace.
“The new cars are coming
out with aluminum panels,”
Fitch said. “This will allow
the students to work on
newer cars and repair panels in our shop. With the
new caddies, we can keep
the parts together and keep
the shop well organized.”
The equipment is the latest enhancement for the
program, which will be
relocating to the new
Collision Repair Technology
Center next year.
Construction began this
summer on the 8,000square foot facility, which is
being built adjacent to the
current site. The structure
will include 4,400 square
feet of classroom and laboratory space.
“The students are looking
forward to the new building,” Fitch said. “We will
have two and half times the
space we have now.
Students will have more
room to work in and the
workflow will be better. The
shop space is much bigger
and we will have more
room for projects. It will be

a big improvement for the
program.”
The facility also will feature a new downdraft paint
booth, which provides a
cleaner paint job.
Currently, students must
mix their paint in one area
of the building, apply it in
the paint booth and then
perform tool cleanup in
another location. Fitch said
the new booth will include
an attached mixing room
allowing students to perform all tasks in a single
area.
Construction of the new
Collision Repair building is
expected to be completed
during the spring semester.
The entire facility will be
ready for students in the
fall.
Fitch is looking forward to
utilizing the new building
and is grateful to the
Foundation for its work in
assisting with equipment
needs.
“They have definitely
helped us tremendously
with the purchase of the
parts caddies and the aluminum dent puller,”
Fitch said. “It will make
a big difference in our
program.”
A Message from the OCC Foundation President
Thanks to all our contributors, the OCC Foundation is happy to report
another productive year. As shown on the second page of this Annual
Report, the Foundation funded the requests of nine different departments. Among the wide variety of items funded were a dent puller for
the Collision Repair Department, an audio mixing board for the
Theatre Department and a historical conference for the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination through the History Department. Total
funding made available to the college was $102,767, which is a nearly
11 percent increase over last year. Obviously, this would not be possible
without the support of many community members, alumni and friends
of the college. Together, we are making impacts that the students can,
literally, lay their hands on every day.
OCC!Foundation Executive Board
Thank you to the many individuals and businesses shown on the enclosed listing. Each contribution is important
and helps to make a difference. Also, thank you for the generous support of our fundraising events. I have noticed
that many of you purchase tickets for these events, even though you may not be able to attend. We truly appreciate
it. If you are considering a contribution to the Foundation for the first time, I encourage you to respond to the
Campaign for Excellence letter, attend a fundraising event, or donate directly to the Foundation. We understand
that there are many opportunities to donate within our communities and hope that you will consider OCC
Foundation as a worthy recipient. You can also create a lasting legacy through an estate planning gift. The OCC
Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Illinois.
Last, but definitely not least, thank you to the Foundation Board members. The many hours of time and the financial support you provide are greatly appreciated. I am proud to work with such a diverse group of volunteers.
If you receive this Annual Report, it means you care about Olney Central College. Again, thank you.
Respectfully yours,
Bartley C. Zuber

Message from the OCC President
Many have noticed the facility changes that are happening at OCC. From
Route 130, you can see the new Collision Repair Center starting to take
shape. The new building will significantly enhance the experience for our
automotive students and better prepare them for the workforce. Not
only are we improving the facilities our students use, but the academic
experience in the classroom is being enhanced with the help of the OCC Foundation
and your continued support. Collision Repair students are using new equipment
purchased by the OCC Foundation that helps them experience the same tools they will
see in the workforce. These items would not be available for the students without your
support and the backing of the Foundation.
The OCC Foundation has continued to support faculty/staff development, the Single
Parent Program, and the Adult Basic Education Program. We are able to provide
services and support in order to ensure that students in these programs are successful.
With Foundation support, we are seeing the number of students completing their GED
and then enrolling in college-level courses increase significantly.
OCC continues to focus on student success and our efforts to retain students and
increase degree completion rates. We need your support to continue these efforts. I also
want to thank the OCC Foundation Executive Board for their dedication and hard
work in helping to advance the mission of Olney Central College. I have been
impressed with their enthusiasm in helping students have a successful experience at
OCC and the college is lucky to have them advocating for higher education in our
region.
I know firsthand the impact the OCC Foundation has on students. I attended OCC as a
student on a Foundation scholarship and the support provided helped me be successful.
Thank you for continuing to support Olney Central College and the OCC Foundation.
Sincerely,
Rodney Ranes
