THEME OF RELIGION IN LANGSTON
HUGHES’S WORKS
The article deals Langston Hughes issue of religion and the
reader often, will see that most of his life; he has conflicting
use when it comes to religion. Hughes was not afraid to voice
his opinion, when it to religion in these selected poem he will
see how his life experiences affects his views on religion. .
Religious feeling is always interring dependent with racial
feeling in his poetry.

Introduction
Langston Hughes had deep rooted with Black culture. His poetry reflects collective states of mind.
In his poetry his personality merged with his racial identity. He has many personae in his poetry. “Sometimes
he is the spirit of his race, at other times he is a spittoon polisher, a black mother, a prostitute, a black man
without job or money-but there is commonality among the various experiences presented in his poems
which gives them a Kind of consistent persona”.

Conclusion
In the second two stanzas, the poet established relation. But the suffering and crucifixion of Christ
is described in last three stanzas. Langston Hughes said that people are so cruel even the Christ, the God,
whom they crucified. He gave some indication that those people who crucified the God how can give
respect and freedom to the black people.
A Good Conclusion : Thus, the research have wider scope for new academician and research scholars.
