Members were awarded their certificate of completion along with a Leadership In Action portfolio. The program began in September and ran through June and consisted of 10 (once a month) all day classes. Each class was organized by local business professionals. The classes included history & tourism, agriculture, law, elected officials, economic development, state government and several other interesting topics to help educate participants about many aspects of Mercer County and the surrounding areas. The class also took on a service project. They decided to provide breakfast items for Aladdin Academy in Celina from October through June. In September a new session of this exciting and informative program will begin. If you are interested in participating as a member of the 2016-2017 Leadership In Action class, please call the Chamber office at 419-586-2219 or email [email protected]. Space is limited to twenty participants, so call or email today. Shop Mercer County Coupon Book To promote shopping in Mercer County, the Celina Mercer County Chamber printed the Shop Mercer County coupon book and developed a mobile app. The Chamber sold ads to cover the costs of printing and distribution of 20,000 coupon books. These books have been distributed to local hotels, restaurants, gas stations, campgrounds, Visitors Bureau and the businesses that have purchased an ad. If the Chamber is notified of a group coming into the area for a class reunion, wedding, business meeting or other event, we pass on the coupons to the organizing party. If you would like some of these books for your customers, employees, or yourself give us a call. To see a printed copy of the book or to download the app, visit www.shoplocalmc.com for details. This website was designed and is maintained by Tomorrow’s Technology Today. They also provided the app for the book. One exemption to overtime pay is for salaried employees meeting certain tests regarding their job duties who are paid at least $455/week. The new rule increases the salaried pay for exemption to at least $913/week or $47,476/year. This issue is more of an employer to employee issue rather than an employer to accountant issue.
