Leadership in Action Class Graduates
The 2015-2016 Celina Mercer County Chamber of Commerce Leadership
Class has come to a close with a graduation luncheon at Briarwood Village in
their Gathering Room on June 23rd. Members were awarded their certificate
of completion along with a Leadership In Action portfolio. The program began
in September and ran through June and consisted of 10 (once a month) all day
classes. Each class was organized by local business professionals. The classes
included history & tourism, agriculture, law, elected officials, economic development, state government and several other interesting topics to help educate
participants about many aspects of Mercer County and the surrounding areas.
The class also took on a service project. They decided to provide breakfast
items for Aladdin Academy in Celina from October through June.
In September a new session of this exciting and informative program will
begin. If you are interested in participating as a member of the 2016-2017
Leadership In Action class, please call the Chamber office at 419-586-2219 or
email [email protected]. Space is limited to twenty participants, so call
or email today.
Shop Mercer County
Coupon Book
To promote shopping in Mercer County, the Celina
Mercer County Chamber printed the Shop Mercer
County coupon book and developed a mobile app.
The Chamber sold ads to cover the costs of printing
and distribution of 20,000 coupon books. These
books have been distributed to local hotels, restaurants, gas stations, campgrounds, Visitors Bureau
and the businesses that have purchased an ad. If
the Chamber is notified of a group coming into the
area for a class reunion, wedding, business meeting or other event, we pass on the coupons to the
organizing party. If you would like some of these
books for your customers, employees, or yourself
give us a call. To see a printed copy of the book or
to download the app, visit www.shoplocalmc.com
for details. This website was designed and is maintained by Tomorrow’s Technology Today. They also
provided the app for the book.
For more information, see the flyer inserted into
this publication or call the Chamber office

A Taste of Celina Block Party and Car Show took place on Friday, July 8th in downtown Celina.
What a Party!
The festivities began at the corner of Main and Market Streets
and went south to Warren Street. From 5 -10 pm, hundreds
perhaps thousands of people were able to taste the unique
specialties of fourteen different Celina restaurants and caterers.
Plenty of tables and chairs were set up in the street. There
was music in the street as well as music inside some of the
downtown restaurants. Several local establishments were
open after the event closed with special entertainment. The
car show was held at the south end of Main Street with over
60 cars participating.
This event could not happen without our major sponsors
called Master Chef Choice Sponsors. We would like to thank Mercer Health, Mercer Savings Bank, Cody Muhlenkamp with Federated Insurance, Celina
Fraternal Order of Eagles, Reynolds, Second National Bank, Wabash Mutual Telephone, Citizens National Bank, Walmart, ArmCorp, and Dynamic Federal
Credit Union for their support.
We appreciate the support and also would like to thank our Top Chef Choice Sponsors of Peoples Bank Co., Stammen Insurance, CAPT, Four U Office Supplies, Leugers Insurance, Celina Manor, and Celina VFW Post 5713.
Our gratitude is also extended to the city of Celina and MCERV for all their assistance in this community event. Also, thanks to the Celina Car Enthusiast
who handled the car show. Finally, our sincere appreciation to all the Chamber Trustees and Ambassadors and volunteers who helped that evening.

DOL Rule Changes
The DOL recently announced changes to the overtime rules for salaried employees. One exemption to
overtime pay is for salaried employees meeting certain
tests regarding their job duties who are paid at least
$455/week. The new rule increases the salaried pay for
exemption to at least $913/week or $47,476/year. This
issue is more of an employer to employee issue rather
than an employer to accountant issue. Below are a
couple of links for you to reference. You can also go to
