TOUR DETAILS
This is the most complete tour to visit the Perito
Moreno glacier as it includes the trekking on the ice, a
short sailing by the south wall of the glacier and a tour in
the runways.
The tour begins when we pick you up at your hotel in El
Calafate and start a 75km ride to the Perito Moreno
Glacier located in Los Glaciares National Park. At the Bajo
las Sombras port, located 5 km before reaching the
glacier, you embark to cross the "Rico" Lake and descend
on the southwestern coast after 20 minutes sailing. The
tour guides lead you to a shelter in the forest where they
organize groups up to 20 people. Then, the trekking
begins heading towards the glacier where, after reaching
the ice, you need to put on iron crampons to walk on this
surface. The tour on the glacier is about an hour and a
half, in which cracks, seracs, sinks and small lakes can be
appreciated. The hike is moderate and you will walk on an
irregular ice surface, but firm and safe.
The return to the port is made with an approach to the
walls of the glacier where you can enjoy a Scotch glass with
ice from the Perito Moreno glacier.
Later, you return to Bajo las Sombras port and you are
taken to visit the runways located in front of the glacier,
where you can have a different view of the landscape.
Finally, you begin the journey back to the city of El Calafate
after visiting and walking on one of the most famous and
unique glacier of its kind in the world.
No previous experience required and any person who meets
the age requirement and a minimum fitness can do it.

Ice Trek
SHIFTS AVAILABLE
TOUR DETAILS
Excellent alternative for those who enjoy trekking on
the ice in a very little explored area where few vestiges
of tourism can be seen because it takes place outside
the traditional tourist circuit.
The tour starts when we pick you up at your hotel in El
Calafate and head towards the north part of Los
Glaciares National Park (still unexplored) and the city of El
Chalten "National Trekking Capital".
In our journey we will make several stops: at the head of
Lake Argentino, where you can observe the largest lake in
our country and the mountains of The Andes, you will
cross the most important river of our province (Santa
Cruz) and will arrive at the historic inn called La Leona:
famous place where you can observe a small museum and
have a snack with homemade cakes. Continuing, we will
stop at the head of Lake Viedma to observe some typical
estancias and the imposing Fitz Roy located about 90 Km.
Entrance to El Chalten on Route N° 23; our next stop will
be in Bay Tunnel, where we will embark modern boats to
get to the front of the Viedma glacier.
We will sail near the front of the glacier and desembark
near the ice giant wall to start with the trek. This walk on
the glacier has a duration of 3 hours. It is an expedition that
takes place on the Viedma glacier with iron crampons for
security.
Having enjoyed this imposing glacier we will return to Bay
Tunnel and undertake the journey back to the city of El
Calafate to arrive at 19:30 or so. It is a highly demanding
hike due to the amount of hours on the ice.

ALL GLACIERS
Full Day Navigation
SHIFTS AVAILABLE
TOUR DETAILS
This navigation is one of the most important tours that
can be made from El Calafate and it is worth spending a
day to get to these National Park sites that are
accessible only by boat. The tour goes through the
Spegazzini, the Upsala and the Perito Moreno glaciers,
entering the bays that they form.
In the case of recruiting the tour transportation from
your hotel, we will pick you up around 7:30 Am and will
undertake the journey of 50 Km to Punta Bandera, where
the boat departs at 9 o'clock. In the case of having your
own vehicle, you must get to the port of Punta Bandera at
8:30 Am.
The first part of the excursion is in the northern arm of
Lake Argentino across the Boca del Diablo, the narrowest
part of the lake, then you will go to the Upsala channel
and the Spegazzini channel where you are able to see, at
the end of each channel, the respective glaciers. The
navigation runs between spectacular icebergs of immense
size and varied forms. After strolling through the north
arm, you will go to the south arm of the lake where is the
glacier Perito Moreno. From the boat you will see, among
others, the Upsala, the Spegazzini and the Perito Moreno
glaciers, the largest and highest respectively among all
glaciers in the park. During winter time, the Spegazzini
glacier area becomes unreachable, which is why tour time is
shortened.
This is one of the most important sailing excursions of area
of El Calafate and the National Park as you visit the most
spectacular glaciers in the area.
During the season 2009/2010 the Onelli glacier area became
unreachable, forcing the boat to take a different route to the
southern arm of Lake Argentino and visit the Perito Moreno
glacier. Keep in mind that boats have very good heating and
you only need to go out on deck in case you want to take
pictures.

PETRIFIED FOREST
La Leona
SHIFTS AVAILABLE
TOUR DETAILS
Full day excursion in the steppe zone, aimed at all
people who enjoy outdoor activities and adventure,
ready to discover new places. The tour includes
approximately 3 hours walking on discontinuous ground
where wind and water were responsible for uncovering
this place, which remained hidden for millions of years.
You start from El Calafate heading east and you turn
north on Route 40 a few kilometers from departure.
During the trip you can see the Lake Argentino, the Santa
Cruz River, the La Leona River and you will have a
panoramic view of the majestic Andes mountains,
including Mount Fitz Roy. You will stop for about 15
minutes in the Hotel La Leona (historical site) and
continue traveling along the southern shore of Lake
Viedma to reach the slopes of Cerro Los Hornos (Estancia
Santa Teresita).
We will look for the first time the great depression of the
land where the petrified logs are situated and will start our
trekking exploration of fossils, which lasts about 3 hours,
including the time for lunch. Throughout the walk will see
lots of petrified logs lying on the surface, some with a
diameter of 1.2 meters, testimony that during ancient
times the climate was very different from today and
allowed the existence of a full forest. There have also been
uncovered fossils of different types of dinosaurs.
This land is sheltered from the wind by the Cerro Los
Hornos and also because it is a natural depression in the
ground. This a steppe area, therefore, is very dry and
weather conditions are generally very nice. After the walk,
you begin the journey back to El Calafate on the same path
