The 11th annual Ironman Competition pits the Crestwood football players in a friendly athletic competition against each other. This year’s contest featured five stations: the Bench Press which tallied the number of repetitions pressing 135 pounds, and four timed events including Tire Flip, Sled Push/Pull, Farmer’s Walk, and the newest event in this year’s competition — an obstacle course. The 10 contestants with the highest combined scores competed in the final round which was a 40-foot push of the team’s Gator UTV vehicle. The fastest time determined the 2016 Alex DiSpirito raced against the clock to flip the tractor tire as fast as he can in the Tire Flip station. Kyle Richards gave his all during the last few reps at the Bench Press station. Community shows support for firefighters The Mountain Top commu- nity once again has shown its support for our volunteer firefighters. When Mountain Top Hose Company No. 1 launched its 2016 annual fund drive titled “Turn It Around,” its goal was to increase the number of donors to the campaign. Since 2008, the number of residents and business owners contributing to the campaign has dropped slowly but steadily. In 2008, over 1,000 donors contributed to the drive. That number had fallen to just over 800 in 2015. “We are pleased to report that our community has responded to our message,” hose company president David Hourigan reported. The fire department already has received 51 more donations that it did last year totaling, $28,770 in contributions. “We are hoping this trend continues and we can achieve over 1,000 donors again,” Hourigan offered. Hourigan recognized the generous support of longtime fire company supporter Anneliese Moghul, who donated $2,000 to the fund drive. “Anneliese has been a most generous supporter of the fire company, generously helping us with our annual fund drive and also as a major bazaar sponsor,” Hourigan pointed out. The fire company president also noted that in addition to support of its annual fund drive, the Mountain Top business community has been a strong supporter of its annual bazaar. “Nearly every business in Mountain Top contributes to the bazaar in some fashion,” he related. “We appreciate the business community’s support of the bazaar.” No meeting for Diabetes Support Group in July Please be advised that there will be no regular meeting for the Mt.
