Sanchin-Ryu’s Child Safety
(for kids 5-14 years old)
Gain life skills while learning how to deal with bullies!
Class topics include a range of personal safety strategies
from how to handle a bully without fighting, to how to identify and protect yourself from a stranger. Each week a
personal safety topic is covered and specific techniques
are practiced. These classes provide your child with the
necessary techniques to enable, broaden and advance
their personal safety strategies. Tremendous self-confidence is achieved!
Program Notes:
• The art of self-defense (Sanchin-Ryu) is taught,
which provides great exercise, entertainment and
encourages each person to develop a greater
level of discipline in his or her life.
• Program is run in a positive, structured class
environment.
• Parents are encouraged to attend.
Adult & Family Sanchin-Ryu /
Advanced Youth Sanchin-Ryu
The art of Sanchin-Ryu is taught in a way that allows adult
students to grow and learn at their own pace. We’ve found
that this builds self-confidence, helps understand stress
management and increases composure and self-defense
awareness. This program is also a great family activity!
Common sense self-defense ideas and techniques are
examined and instructed. The Advanced Youth SanchinRyu program is held in conjunction with this program.
Youth students ranking Green Belt (2nd level) and above
continue their Sanchin-Ryu training.

Dance
RARA School for the Performing
Arts program offers a wide variety
of dance classes (preschool, tap,
jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop) for
children and adults beginning at 2
½ years of age. We teach these
classes in terms. Our RECITAL
TERM begins each September
when students are enrolled for the
two semester program, ending with the “grand finale” – our recitals
in June presented at a local high school. Some dancers enjoy
non-recital classes taught in 8-12 week terms throughout the year,
FALL, WINTER/SPRING AND SUMMER. The SUMMER TERM,
provides students the opportunity to strengthen skills or sample
new classes in a short 8 week session begins each June.
COMPETITION and ENSEMBLE CLASSES: Annual auditions
are help each June (see page 37)
LOCATION: Dance classes are taught at our Dance Center
located at 100 East Second Street, downtown Rochester. The
center features four classrooms, parent waiting area, canteen,
and municipal parking. Each studio classroom has an observation
window.
INSTRUCTORS: Our dance teachers are trained, mature, and
sensitive to the needs of both children and adults. They teach
to develop technique and self-confidence, not stress, enhancing
body image, strength, and agility through dance. Above all, the
enjoyment of the performing arts is foremost.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Good attendance is imperative, as
absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class. Please
make every effort to have students at each class. More than one
(1) absence in the last six weeks of the recital term (April 23 – June
4) could jeopardize the dancer’s performance opportunity.
DRESS CODE POLICY: Dancewear is worn for all classes.
Students cannot dance in street clothes. No loose fitting clothing
or excessive jewelry, please. Hair must be worn off the neck, out
of eyes and must be secured before class. See shoe requirements
with the class listings. Detailed dancewear handout available
upon request at the studio.
MAKE-UP POLICY: There are no make-up or refund opportunities
for students who miss class due to illness, travel, family situations,
etc. Classes cancelled due to inclement weather conditions cannot
be make up or refunded. There will be make-ups scheduled in
the event that class is cancelled when an instructor is unable to
conduct class.
GENERAL INFORMATION—RECITAL TERM
Students must be the listed age at time of registration and meet skill
requirements where specified.
* Continuing RECITAL TERM students have an opportunity to
pre-register in September.
• Students are measured and costumes are ordered at the
end of the fall semester.
• Costume fees are included in the first semester payment.

RARA would like to acknowledge and
say a Special Thank You to the Young
Foundation. They donated $5,000 to
help offset the cost of our camp for low
income campers. We have lost grant
funding due to lack of funds. There
amazing generosity helps over 80 children attend 8 weeks of summer camp.
