JUNIOR GOLF CAMP
WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS
Junior Golf was at its best this summer with two camps focusing on the fundamentals of the game, along with body movements,
that will allow for a more precise swing. These week long camps
saw 30 juniors come through to perfect their skills on the course.

JUNIOR GOLF FUNDRAISER
Old Waverly would like to showcase our future
champions with these car decals. These yearly decals
can be purchased in the Golf Shop. Pricing is as follows: 1 for $50.00, 2 for $75.00, 3 or more $100.00. This
will be our yearly fundraiser that will go towards our
Fleishhacker Junior Golf Cottage, along with the Old
Waverly Junior Golf Series conducted each month.
Showcase the hard work that our junior golfers are putting in at the golf course with these great new decals!

HANDA CUP UPDATE
This is the third tournament update and each month
the message gets better because of the terrific member
and community support.
Last month we asked for three areas of support. We
still need a few community sponsors, but if you compare
this month’s list to last month, it’s easy to see that our
members have really come through for us. We are now
making an all out effort to sell four color advertisements
in our tournament program. It’s a great value for businesses in our area. Full page ads are $1,500, half page ads
are $800, and quarter page ads are $500. Please help us
with these ads.
Tickets are the third area that we need help. Please
help us sell a few tickets in your town. Our goal is to set
an ISPS Handa Cup attendance record, but it will never
happen without your help.

In closing, we are now within 60 days of the event so
this is a call to action. Please get on board now to make
this another great Old Waverly event.

4TH OF JULY SCRAMBLE
4th of July was a day to remember at Old
Waverly! We had over 28 teams compete in
this years Red, White, and Blue scramble.

the MJGA and the NE MS Coke Junior. Many of our junior golfers came out and competed in these one day events.

contributes to our nation’s economy, while providing consumers with a healthy, safe and great-tasting

on family-owned farms in the states of Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and
Louisiana, where many of these growers are second- or third-generation farmers. Old Waverly serves local farm raised catfi sh. Try the many flavors of
catfi sh this month as a different recipe will be used every Wednesday Night!

FLEISHHACKER GOLF COTTAGE
We had an extremely exciting and successful summer at the
Fleishhacker Golf Cottage! Junior golfers from Mississippi, Tennessee,
Louisiana, and Alabama have come to Old Waverly and shared in an
awesome experience. We would like to thank each and every member
that has a played an integral part in helping us grow the game of golf.
The cottage has been open a little over a year now, and we have hosted
over 80 junior golfers from the Southeast.
We still have a few camps on the schedule in August. So don’t wait

MESSAGE FROM GEORGE SAVARDA
As many of you know by now, there have been a few changes that have occurred at Old Waverly. While these created a
few “bumps” in the road early on, the culinary team has risen to the occasion and has us headed in a very positive direction with respect to the freshness and quality of cusine being offered to the membership and guests.
Fresh products are being utilized in all areas of meat, seafood, and poultry, as well as herbs and vegetables, when harvest allows for this. Steaks and seafood are being hand cut to assure the freshest product possible. Every attempt is being
made to avoid utilizing frozen product although in some cases this is not possible.
Other changes you have seen are the scaling back of the number of items being offered on the Bistro menu, as well as
no longer having the Murphy’s menu available to order from at night. Some Murphy’s items are offered but on a limited
basis. The overall rationale for this is to gain greater control of the menu, thus allowing the culinary staff to execute
fewer items with a higher degree of quality and consistency.
It is my hope that there is a common understanding as to why these steps have been taken and even a greater hope
that we are achieving the intended results.
