MAKE A GRAND ENTRANCE
The entrance to any commercial or industrial structure
is your visitor’s first impression. Eide Structures will
enhance the shopping, entertainment and dining
experience for everyone.
The owners of the Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego
utilized Eide’s services to shade thousands of square
feet from the intense sunlight. The shade system was
created by adding 528 framed mesh fabric panels to an
existing steel trellis. The 13,000 square foot shade
retrofit provided a quick, efficient and sound solution to
a major shading problem using the fabric Polytex 230
HDPE mesh.

DESIGN OUTSIDE THE BOX
Boxes are boring. This gorgeous sail-shaped architectural
fabric structure is designed to complement the wave-like
roof curvatures and align with the surrounding
communities’ coastal lifestyle. The 30’ x 80’ fabric
structure was engineered to meet 90 MPH wind loads
and built to last. For the iconic sail, Eide Structures
utilized a stark-white TENARA® ePTFE Fabric by SEFAR®
Architecture to cover the metal frame structure. The
frame was painted with Tnemec Series liquid paint.
Upon completion, the Newport Beach Civic Center
Project won both the Orange County AlA Honor Award
for Design and the Orange County AlA’s Member’s Choice

Award. Thinking outside the box, or in this case, the use
of curves and fabric, gave rise to stunning results.

EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS
The shade sail canopy at the Redwood Grille was
designed to enhance the restaurant’s outdoor dining
experience. For daytime customers, the stylish sail
structures provide needed protection from the sun. For
evening events, the fabric canopies create a unique
environment that creates a warm atmosphere. In all
cases, Eide’s stationary shade systems provide an
elegant lounging area for restaurant guests.
Engineered to meet 90 MPH wind and seismic codes,
three tensioned shade panels made of flame-retardant
fabric were installed over a custom canopy framework.
The new shade sail structures quickly became a key
selling point for hosting outdoor events and an iconic
feature for the Redwood Grille, Santa Monica, California.

OPEN NEW OPPORTUNITIES
On a beautiful day, nothing beats opening the top on a
convertible. That’s why Eide Structures specializes in
retractable canopy systems. With the requirement for all
steel welding and fabrication, Eide embraced this project
and successfully completed the design, fabrication and
installation, which met the client’s requirement for a
retractable roof with retracting side curtains.
Eide introduced a kinetic shade system designed with a
combination of four motorized Corradi Impact

screens, entirely supported by an Eide welded steel
frame structure. We engineered the system to meet 90
MPH wind loads.

STRENGTH WITH STYLE
Under the tropical sun of Aruba, eighteen custom
tensioned umbrellas were engineered to shade
pedestrians and withstand 100 MPH wind loads. The
project was commissioned to encourage cruise-line
tourism to the island’s ports-of-call. The colorful
structures were installed on the main street and
pavilion in Oranjestad.
To transport these large structures to the Dutch
Carribean, Eide designed and fabricated special racks
within the shipping container for proper packaging
and to prevent damage to the steel frames and covers.
