It is about our journey toward Heaven and the spiritual realities available to us along the way. Each day brings us one day closer to our first face-to-face with Jesus. But each day also brings an opportunity to become more and more like Him in the way we live. This side of Heaven it is the greatest journey of all. Join us! Ephesians ~ West Lower Rickard _______________________ Pastor Marci Mattoso • 503.581.3680 • [email protected] "I would love for you to join me in studying the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. In this class we will discuss what it means to be a Christian and understand our role in response to God’s grace. Our goal is to strengthen your faith and help you to understand how to live a holiness life in this changing world.” Torah ~ Room 111___________________________________ Dr. Win Priest • 503.581.3680 • [email protected] The New U Spring term begins with the Passover Feast and the Redemption of the Children of Israel in the leaving of Egypt. This term is a continuing 'in depth' study of the Torah, especially the Exodus. All are invited to attend this class and discover the very bedrock 'Foundations' of your Faith. You are invited to participate in the worship celebration of our Lord and God as we re-visit the journey to the Promised Land. Small Groups ~ East Gym Stage _______________________ Pastor Tim Crump • 503.581.3680 • [email protected] The hope of this session is that we will form strong relationships with one another and God through the study of God’s Word and by doing life together. This will also be a training time for future small group leaders. Prayer Team ~ Room 121 __________________________________ This group is focused on prayer! Join them for a life-deepening experience. Table Talk: Preparing For Guests John 6:22-51 In the Gospel of John, Jesus makes a series of “I am” statements which provide a glimpse into His nature, character, purpose and plan. He declared: “I am the resurrection and the life.” “I am the light of the world.” “I am the gate for the sheep.” “I am the good shepherd.” “I am the way, the truth and the life.” “I am the vine.” This morning we are going to look at John 6:35 as Jesus stated: “I am the bread of life.” _____________, in the time of Jesus, was the ____________ of life. In fact, the two things the people of that day needed to survive were bread and water. Interestingly, Jesus offers the people of that day both living water and the “bread of life.” • Jesus is the ___________ of ____________. This “Bread of Life” can nourish you. This “Bread of Life” can satisfy you. This “Bread of Life” can sustain you. • The ___________ is a ____________ where people are fed the “bread of life.” We exist as a church to feed a hungry world. As a church, whether we realize it or not, we have the ultimate food. We have the opportunity to serve the “bread of life” to a hungry world! As a church we need to make sure the bread of life is available and is shared and served to those within our community of faith and those who have yet to experience Jesus Christ. As a table, the church exists to serve both the believers or disciples of Jesus and those who are simply seeking or explorers. One of the hopes of this church is that we help you find the “bread of life” and then enable you to help others find “the bread of life.” The _____________________ . . . People are to be invited to come to the table where the living bread is served. What does the invitation look like? What are some components of a proper invitation for those who are hungry for the “Bread of Life?” When we are extending an invitation are we thinking of ourselves or those we are inviting? Jesus said: “My food . . . is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.” John 4:34 The ______________________ . . . The table where people come to be served the “bread of life” needs a number of chairs. There is a need for preparation as we seek to feed a hungry world the “bread of life.” Who needs to be seated at the table? Who needs to partake of the “bread of life?” When you come to the table who are you thinking about? Are you thinking about people who are a part of the family of God or those who are outside of the family? Who is responsible for preparing the “bread of life?” “Feed my sheep.” John 21:18 The ______________________ . . . The “living bread” demands the ultimate presentation. When we serve the bread of life, it needs to be where people can get it. The church exists to feed a hungry world. Believers in Jesus Christ do not become spiritually fat because after having received the “bread of life,” they exercise by serving it to one another and those who have yet to taste it. There is a difference in those who simply seek to have their stomach full from the miracles of Jesus and those who consume the “living bread.” The people who Jesus fed among the 5,000 asked Him: “What must we do to do the works God requires?” (John 6:28) To which Jesus replied: “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:29) Do you believe? Are you daily eating the “bread of life?” Who have you invited to the table? Are you willing to serve others? Key: Bread, staple, Bread, Life, church, table, Invitation, Preparation, Presentation.
