Message from your Director
December will be a very busy month for our chapter and its members. We
will have election of Officers at the December meeting, and I hope many of
you have considered becoming an Officer. We will be having our
Christmas Party on Sunday, December 10th and I know many of you will
be attending. The plans that have been made by the Dealership and our
Committee will insure a good time. (More Details are in this Newsletter)
The Election of Officers, I repeat, will be held and that will guide the
Chapter next year. Our Charities will have been selected and we again will
put our money to benefit organizations that serve our local community. I
will conduct my last meeting. December will be full at HOG, but it will also
be full for you and your families. We must first celebrate Thanksgiving and
I ask you to think about those that have less .
The next 7 weeks
represent a special time and I hope you all participate and enjoy. - Bob -

November Business:
• The Indianapolis Chapter No.1 Christmas Party will be held on Sunday, December 10th. Please RSVP to Sherri
Hammer by December 5th
• 2007 Officer Elections are coming up. The nomination sheet is on the board at the back of the dealership. There are
lots of positions to fill, your chapter needs you.
• Thanks to all the 2006 Officers, they have done a good job.
• Photo contest judging will be November 18th at 10:00 am. There is a sign-up sheet for judges, we need 6 and there
are 7 categories to judge.
• The 2007 membership due renewals will be going out soon. The dues are $12 for the year and you must have an
active National HOG Membership in order to be a local member.
• The Marine Corps. Toys for Tots drive is coming up on November 18-19, 2006 at the dealership. Bring in a $10
unwrapped toy that does not need batteries. The Marines are the best. If you have questions, please call Beth Bey at
317-815-1800.
• Harley-Davidson of Indianapolis’ Pre-Thanksgiving Day Sale. Everything has been restocked for this one-day sale.
Thanks to the entire membership for their participation in 2006.

We have made arrangements with the Indianapolis Symphony again for two rides to Conner Prairie. One will probably be the week prior to July 4th with a 100 bikes maximum. The second ride will be later in the summer, but date hasn’t
been determined. It will be different from the Flash Cadillac Ride last year, hopefully, no rain, but we will have a tent,
food and some other things going on as well.
• We have partnered with Scotty’s Brewhouse for Wednesday Bike Nights. There will be discounts, but all the details
haven’t been worked out. They have some nice rooms to do some other functions, maybe an officers meeting or something else. We will keep you posted as plans materialize.
• Hope you noticed all the changes in the store. We are about 2-weeks away from completion. We will have all families of Harley-Davidson’s on the back wall, a greater depth in product and some other changes.
• Our Winter Hours are not in effect: Monday – Friday 10 am to 7 pm; Saturday 9 am to 5 pm; and Sunday 11 am to 4
pm.
• We will be having our Pre-Thanksgiving Day Sale on Saturday, November 18th. This one-day sale will include 20%
off, Santa and other fun.
• We are excited to announce the new Harley District Director, Jack Cobb. Great guy, started the Texas HOG Chapter
and will be very involved with our store.
• As a thank you to you, today we will have a special 20% off all day for HOG Members.
We are running a promotion that if you buy a new Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, you receive a $1,000 gift certificate.
See one of the sales guys for more details or to buy your new bike.

serve as judges for the HOG Indianapolis Chapter No. 1 Photo Contest. The judges are scheduled to meet at the
dealership on Saturday, November 18th at 10:00 am to judge the photo entries. The Photo Contest prizes will be
awarded at the Christmas Party at the dealership on Sunday, December 10th.
Also, thanks to new members, Tom and Carol Case, who agreed to submit an article for the newsletter. Be sure to

October Chapter Ride to Batesville,by Ted Rossell:
After the chapter meeting on October 7th, we set off on a ride to Batesville. The morning started off a little cool, but
the sun was out and the day turned out to be really nice for a ride. We headed east from the dealership on 96th Street to
Hazel-Del Parkway, then north to 116th Street and east on 116th Street to Olio Road, south on Olio Road to 113th
Street, east on 113th Street and this is where the ride became more fun as 113th Street is tree lined and has some curves.
On 113th Street, this lead us to State Road 238, over to Fortville, then we took Fortville Pike south through Greenfield
to Davis Road, Davis Road east to Morristown Pike, south on Morristown Pike to US 52, then southeast to Rushville
and State Road 44, east on State Road 44 to Connersville where we stopped for a short break. From Connersville, we
took State Road 121 south, this road follows the Whitewater River as it makes its way to Metamora. Metamora however was not our destination this day, so we turned south on State Road 229 to Batesville, as we went through Oldenburg we met a group on Cushman Motor Scooters that were on an outing that day also.
In Batesville, we stopped at the Sherman House for lunch. Chip, Mark and Chris were the lucky winners of lunch paid
by the Chapter. After lunch we made a gas stop before heading back to Indy by way of State Road 229 and US 52.
I received many nice comments on the ride with most saying that they didn’t know that a short ride to
Batesville could be so long and so scenic, but after all, it is not the destination it’s the journey.

Hello To All ,
Let me start by saying, my husband and I are glad to be new H.O.G. members, and being new members, I was asked if I
could write a little about our trip to Daytona, for Biketoberfest ‘06. I have never done this before, but here we go. We left
Markleville on Sunday about 11:30 on the 15th. With the bike in tow, because we wanted a place to park the bike without worrying about it being stolen and leaving us stranded a 1,000 miles from home. We have rode other bikes that
we’ve had to the French Quarter, and over the last 3 years we rode to North Carolina and Branson, MO. We decided to
stop for the night in Marietta, Georgia and let me tell you, we’ve stopped over in Georgia
before and each time we say never again, lol "lots of laughter." Monday we started off
again and it seemed like we were never going to get through Georgia, with all the construction going on, but we finally made it to Daytona about 4:30 that afternoon. We
checked into the Outrigger Resort in Ormond Beach, right on the ocean and it was beautiful, I’ve never been to Daytona before. The temperature was in the high 80's when we got
there. After we unloaded everything we were told that we could not leave the truck and
trailer on the lot, so we ended up having to pay another place to let us park them in a
empty lot across the street from where we were staying. Come to find out, last year they
had several bikes stolen, and they had trucks and trailers parked everywhere in the lots
and really didn’t know who owned the trailers. The City told all the motel’s, hotel’s and resorts to keep some kind of
control on who parks trailers in their area. By this time, it was starting to get dark and we were getting hungry, and tired,
so we took a little ride and got a bite to eat and went back to the room. Tuesday we got up and Tom said he was going to
take me to some of the places were he’s been before during BikeWeek in March. Oh by the way, Tom is my husband,
lol. We went to places like Broken Spoke, Cabbage Patch, Iron Horse Saloon, but due to the city of Daytona not recognizing Biketoberfest until Thursday thru Saturday they won’t let any " dealers - venders " set up until Thursday. What
people we talked to said that each year there’s more and more people coming earlier, so
they look for City officials to start letting things start a little earlier real soon. In the meantime, things are a little dead until Wednesday night and Thursday, then " WATCH OUT "
all of a sudden there’s more bikers than you could count, coming out of the woodwork. Lol
starting Wednesday, you’ll see trucks and trailers full of bikes, and bikers riding in, full of
gear and ready to enjoy the next few days, arriving all day and night. We decided to go
spend a day at the dog track, which was really neat, we both won a few races, but was too
green to bet much, so we still had to come back home Sunday like planned, lol .Then we
went to Main Street, this is where I think most of the bikers hang out watching the bikes
cruise and going to places like: Boothill Saloon; Corbins; and Frogs Saloon. There’s so much stuff going on all around
Daytona you can’t see it all. We went to the Daytona International Speedway and if your into NASCAR fan "WOW".
There was motorcycle racing and demo rides with about every motorcycle manufacturer there at the track, not to mention
all the vendors and live music too. If your into flea markets and motorcycle swap meets, just about a half mile west of
the track there was something for every one. Oh, by the way, while at the dog track, we met a lady that worked there and
ended up going riding with her and her husband, they ride a real nice Nighttrain. Friday and Saturday they took us to
other hot spots that we would have never found. If you go down there, try to make it a point to eat at the RiverGrille, it
sits in a wooded area right over the water. They have a dock where boaters can come park their boats and walk up to the
restaurant to eat. We tried some alligator tail and it really wasn’t that bad. One day we rode over to the worlds largest
Harley dealer in Ormond Beach. That place was really neat, it had an elevator and escalators as well as more new
Harley’s in one spot than we have ever seen, both downstairs and upstairs. Believe it or not, they have Harley merchandise that we’ve never seen around here. It is worth the trip to go see it, if your in the area. We didn’t think much of the
fact that we had to pay $5.00 just to park in his lot to see one of his 13 or 14 Harley stores that he owns down there. They
did have several vendors and live music going on, so I guess it really wasn’t bad. We found out
he never offers any discounts, except during Labor Day and no discount’s for out of state
H.O.G. members either. Well, I better get off here before it’s considered a novel, lol. I’m sorry
we didn’t take more pics, we had no idea we would be asked to do this and like Tom always
says “KEEP THE SUNNY SIDE UP & THE RUBBER ON THE ROAD!!”
