ISSF Skeet Report - Cecil Park Clay Target Club
NEWSLETTER Dear fellow members, I would like to wish you all a happy new year from myself & the board members, also a special thanks to the board members, office staff, volunteers, and Caretaker who helped to make CPCTC have a good year with one hundred more members than the previous year. As this is my first full year as president, I would like to advise we have made major improvements throughout the year. Here are a few examples: Installations of shade sails in front of the Russell Mark building, renovate the office, paint the clubhouse, up to date touch screen swipe card and cash register, install a computer program software and hardware( shoot master) by Frank Auditore (thank you), two new dual mattarelli single rise and double rise traps, one new rabbit trap. Two second hand matarelli single rise traps, one matarelli single rise continental trap from NSW gun club (thank you). Kitchen: one commercial range hood, stainless steel fridge, four gas burner stoves, double gas deep fryer, convectional microwave. Second hand golf cart, pool table. Discipline report Five stand is up and running, practice every Saturday run by Robert Gray, who does a fine job (thank you). Also five stand is now being held every third Wednesday night (of the month) 6pm10pm. This is run by horsely park gun shop. This is being run by David Abala & John Koolbins as they 2 are club members on behalf of CPCTC. This discipline is fast becoming popular with nine squads on two layouts on last outing. Skeet Report Held on the second Saturday of each month our skeet comps have been successful with an average of six to seven squads for the year. A special thanks to shoot Marshall Ben Buhajiar and his helpers, Mark Newman and John Cunningham (thank you). Trap Report Trap has been a very mixed year with Friday night shooting having some good and some poor attendances as far as comps go. We have tried many different ways to bring people in e.g. putting good money up for prizes, so we will keep trying to do our best. Special thanks to shoot Marshall Nick Tourgelis and Stephan Bell. On a brighter note practice has been good. ISSF Skeet Report This is no doubt the hardest discipline on the planet, targets doing aprox 55mph gun down, is slowly growing with more shooters having a go. Special thanks to Angelo st Angelo and Leo Pezzano. ISSF Trap Report This discipline is growing very well as our monthly shoot is averaging 4 squads sometimes five. We now have a sponsor for 2007 for our monthly shoots. Johnson Solicitors, Attorneys, Barristers and Conveyancers (thank you) also special thanks to shoot marshal Frank Minici, Leo Pezzano, Dom Carlino. Open Shoots Report Easter trap shoot in April, 2 day ISSF trap carnival in May, 2 day Anniversary trap shoot in September, 2 day skeet carnival in October. All our 3 Christmas shoots for all disciplines we thank you shooters and volunteers for all your support throughout the year. Targets only practice Report All disciplines were well supported throughout the year as many competitors seek practice for competition and many seek practice as a social past time, all in all the clubs main income is from targets only. As you can see by the CTSNews we have advertised many weekly and monthly comps and open shoot comps, for all disciplines throughout the year so we have a balance. Youth Nationals were held in November '06. Our junior competitor Matthew Maloney won his age group in ISSF skeet. Youth Olympics was held at CPCTC from 17th to 21st represented countries aus, England and New Zealand. Congratulations to Matthew Maloney on his bronze medal for ISSF skeet. Special thanks to Mike and Marina Maloney throughout the week for their support. World Masters Games Cecil Park will be holding the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games for DTL trap, American skeet, ISSF trap, ISSF double trap and ISSF skeet. More info will be advised. 4 Sponsors I would like to give a special thanks to all the sponsors throughout the year. A special thanks to past President David McLeod, Richard Hunt and Barry Kable (both being previous board members) with providing letters and photos of previous work done by the government pre Olympics for EIS. CPCTC ISSF 2006 ISSF finished off with a huge success at its Christmas Shoot, with the continued support and sponsorship of Casella Wines, Thirlmere Pharmacy, Klikon Solutions, Sydney Baby Kingdom, Data#3 Limited, H&J Furniture and J.D. Concrete. It was a 200 tgt event plus final conducted over two days in conjunction with the AISL Youth Nationals. Many interstate shooters made the trip to Sydney to claim their share of the large prize pool up for offer. The O/All winner was Glenn Kable shooting very well all weekend. The NSW Grand Prix for 2006 was won by Frank Minici , these ISSF events are highly recommended to qualify for, especially in 2007 as it promises to be yet again an exciting competion. A special thanks to Neal Gay for the development and idea to create a concept which will flourish in the future. For more details visit www. nswcta.org or contact CPCTC. The CPCTC ISSF monthly Challenge for 2006 was won by me {Tony Cantali} Again this is a great event to participate in. The Double Trap was won by Suzy Balogh, hope to see everyone this year! CPCTC members flew, drove and hitch hiked to Brisbane Gun Club for the Olympic National Event. Many shooters shined, while others fell in a heap! Most individuals knew to well what was required in order to make a World Cup Team, and that was to shoot 121/125. Tough you think? Well not according to Michael Diamond and Adam Vella! I’ve never seen Michael in such great shape and form winning 2 from 3 events and Adam winning the la st event. Michael also won the high gun, well shot Micky D. Their was one bloke from CPCTC who was on fire and made one final shooting 115/125! That was yours truly Vince Gatt, President from CPCTC. Well shot Vince and keep up the outstanding work at our club. The 9th February will see us at Melbourne Gun Club for the Aus Cup where we attempt to again shoot 121/125! Good luck to all and remember to be true to yourself before you are true to others. Yours Truly Tony Cantali Worlds Greatest One Eye Shot. CLUB HISTORY Welcome to Cecil Park Clay Target Club, and we hope you enjoy your activity at the best Shooting Complex in Australia. A lot of people who visit the Club are surprised at the scope of the facility, and a lot are surprised because they were not aware that the facility existed. The Cecil Park Clay Target Club officially started its shooting competition with the Easter shoot on the 4th April 1994 and there is a brass plate over the club room door that notes this occasion. The history of the club goes back a lot further than 1994 though and the CPCTC was originally called the Hawkesbury Gun Club and was situated at Fairey Rd Windsor. The club started as a club in 1956 and I will give more information about this in the near future. The name of the club is set geographically, and when we decided to move from Windsor in the early nineties the club was going to the site that is now occupied by the Eastern creek Raceway, and we changed the name to The Blacktown and District Clay Target Club. This move was not satisfactory and we were dispossessed for the raceway and were fortunate to lease this property from The Dept of Urban Development and Planning. The club is in the Liverpool District at Cecil Park hence the Name Cecil Park Clay Target Club. Under the Companies Act the Club became a Public Company Limited by Guarentee, on the 22nd November 1977. 50th Anniversary Skeet Carnival Cecil Park Clay Target Club held its two day open shoot carnival 50th Anniversary on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of October. The weather on day 1 was hot, approximately 37 degrees. Day two was cool, overcast and windy. With prizes and cash of up to $6000.00 All the competitors and my self would agree it was a great weekend of shooting and a great atmosphere. The food was wonderful from the canteen which was taken care of by Tony and Sandra, a big thank you goes out to all those who helped out on the weekend. Competitors from all around the country attended the two day shoot, we had Mal Briggs (Vic), Gil Farish (Vic), Laurie Sceresini (Qld) George Petrou (Qld), Marco Ponta (WA), Clument Bertini (WA) It was nice to see interstate and international competitors at the event, the amount of traveling is greatly appreciated by the club.
