Hot Wax is spread thickly onto the skin then
allowed to dry a little before it is gently peeled
away. This method is much less painful than
most and pulls hair directly from the roots.
It has benefits such as fewer in-grown hairs,
less breakage so longer re-growth periods. It
also promotes skin hydration and we highly
recommended it for sensitive areas.
Q: How long should hair be for
waxing?
A: The hot wax can grab hair as
short as 1mm in length, while
strip wax can remove hair as
short as 2mm. Everyone has
a different growth cycle but
generally we are able to wax
areas that have been shaved one
week earlier. However, for larger
parts of the body such as arms/
legs, we suggest leaving it three
weeks before waxing.
Q: What is the difference
between Hollywood and
Brazilian?
A: The Hollywood wax removes
all pubic hair. The Brazilian
however leaves a strip (as wide

few frequently asked questions to help take the myth out of nail care. All our team are qualified in pregnancy
treatments, however our specialists are

Q. What is the difference between
Gel and Acryllic nails?
A. Gel nails last longer and are stronger
than Acryllic nails. Gel nails are more
natural looking than Acryllic. Acryllic is
a cheaper option and they tend not to
last as long as Gel nails.
Q: Do you have any specialized pregnancy
treatments?
A: Yes, just inform our front of house team
when you make your booking. We offer
specialized ESPA and Comfort Zone pre and
post natal body treatments. Normally we
recommend that you have a massage after 3
months not before.
Q. How frequently do I need to have
in fills?
A. This depends on the strength of the
person’s nails but usually in fills need
doing every 2-3 weeks.
Q: Can I have a facial treatment?
A: Facial treatments are fine, our therapists
will only use oils/products suitable for
pregnancy as your skin can be more
sensitive. In fact, most of our treatments
can be adapted to suit your requirements.
However, Crystal Clear, IPL and CACI are not
advisable during pregnancy.
Q. What is a tip?
A. A tip is a plastic nail extension. You
can have either white or natural tips.
Q: I would love to have a spray tan. Is
this still possible?
A: Spray tanning in pregnancy is safe as long
as you are over 3 months pregnant. We do
however always advise clients that their tan
may not take as normal due to the fact that
their hormones can cause havoc!
Q: Can I have
aromatherapy oils
during pregnancy?
A: It is safe to use
some essential
oils while you’re
pregnant, as long
as you’re healthy
and they are used
carefully. Here at
Urban Spa we only use oils we know are
safe to be used in pregnancy. The oils we
use here are ESPA Nourishing oil and Neom
organic aromatherapy oils which are all safe.
Shellac Gel
The Perfect White Tips
Shellac Gel is a coloured gel.
We only use Shellac OCS,
a professional recognised
brand and one of our
most popular services. It’s
most important feature is
that it doesn’t chip, peel
or damage your natural
nails. You should have
Shellac every 2-3 weeks
and it should be removed
in a salon as opposed to at
home. We love this product. There are three ways of
achieving white tips and we
have rated them for quality,
durability and how professional
they look. 1. Pink and White
This is done by using
Gel powder. It looks very
professional as the white tips
stay whiter and is kinder on the
nails. HHHH
2. Permanent White Tip
These are extensions added
to your nail to lengthen it.
However you cannot do in fills
with this type. HHH
3. Painting
We use OPI varnish for this. It
does not last as long and may
chip. We also use Shellac colour
gel which is more durable.
Using varnish or Shellac is
kinder on the nails. HHH
