Shayna Zaid – Half a World Away… American / Malaysian singer and songwriter Shayna Zaid, will be returning to Malaysia this March ’07 to promote her upcoming South East Asian album ‘Half A World Away’. The album is a ‘first of its kind’ blend of American Pop and R&B with English and Malay lyrics fused together. For this album, Shayna worked with some of NYC’s most talented new production companies, The Ozone Productions (who are currently working on major projects for Chris Styles of Dangerous LLC and Atlantic Records). Shayna’s soulful vocals and star appeal are felt on all the tracks, from uplifting pop hits like “Kali Pertama” and “Gotta Get Up” to the heartfelt ballad of “Take Your Time”. For this album Shayna collaborated with such talented artists as Malaysia’s Shazzy and JFK. The collaboration and fusion of U.S. and Malaysian cultures has such a unique and cutting-edge feel that’s never been done before. In January of 2007, Shazzy and JFK flew to NYC to shoot the music video for “Kali Pertama” that was documented on camera as a reality-based travelogue and will be seen through the Astro networks starting in March. The music video was produced by The Digitalist Productions of Toronto, Canada (whose extensive resume can be seen at www.thedigitalist.ca). Her soulful voice is unmistakably powerful, yet tender, strong yet sweet, and mature beyond her years. Shayna’s genuine ability to draw you into her lyrical world will leave you grounded, uplifted and inspired. Her sound is commercially modern, yet authentic and timeless. From her childhood days of acting, dancing and singing in live theater and performance events, entering and winning a stream of singing and art competitions, and gracing the TV screen as the face of numerous ad campaigns, Shayna has become an experienced “triple threat’ of entertainment talent. After her debut as a challenger on a singing competition television show “Asia Bagus”, she was offered recording contracts by both SONY-Malaysia and EMI-Malaysia. At the same time, she was offered a live television show host spot, for a daily show on TV3 called ‘Speak Up’, and by the age of fifteen, she became a TV celebrity in Malaysia where she interviewed many international stars during primetime on a major TV network. She soon graced the cover of several national magazines and gained exposure and fame in modeling for advertising giants such as Coca-Cola, Dove, Holiday Inn, and Nokia, among others. Shayna still has a massive fan base in Malaysia where, her independently released single; “Sweet While it Lasted” made it to Number 1 on the Top 10 charts of XFRESH FM from mid-July to late August 2006. Plans for releasing, marketing and major radio/TV promotions of Shayna’s South East Asian debut album “Half A World Away” will take place in April of 2007. “It wasn’t easy giving up my family, friends, fans and a successful career, in exchange for a dream with an unknown future, which existed in what seemed a foreign land, though it is my second home country… but I wouldn’t change it for the world! It was the best “mistake” I’ve ever made… for a dream, my dream, beyond borders…” - Shayna Zaid Management: Jay Deasel; Tel (USA): +1.857.234.1423; Email:[email protected] Jihan Halim; Tel (Malaysia):+6012.6044124; Email: [email protected] SHAYNA ZAID 20 River Road, Ste. 2G New York, NY 10044 Mobile: +1.617.6976911 Email: [email protected] Managers: USA - Jay Deasel; Tel: +1.857.2341423; Email:[email protected] Malaysia - Jihan Halim; Tel:+6012.6044124; Email: [email protected] TELEVISION EXPERIENCE • “SPEAK UP” - Host of “Live” Television Talk Show, which aired four days a week at primetime 7pm on TV3, Malaysia (1999-2000) • Coca-Cola “Watchya’ Want” - Featured Celebrity/Host – a half hour show about the life of a young celebrity (April 1999) TELEVISION COMMERCIALS • Dove (May 2001) • Affin Bank (May 2001) • Nokia Cellular P hones (February 2001) • Pringles (2000) • Nestle Non-Stop Ice-Cream (1999) • Coca-Cola (1999) • F&N Soda (1995) • Holiday Inn (1992) PROMOTIONAL LAUNCHINGS • “CHUP” COCA-COLA Segar Semula” – Model/Emcee for promotional launch of a unique marketing campaign which targeted young Malaysians to set a good example for future generations (2000) • TIME.net.my – Emcee for the Internet Portal Launch of TIME.net (2000) • TM.net.my – Emcee for the Internet Portal Launch of TM.net (2000) • Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) – Talent featured in the Grand Opening of Malaysia’s Premier International Airport (June 1998) THEATRE EXPERIENCE • “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller – Directed by E.
