WELCOME
And so it seems our Cat is the same age as Harry Styles from One Direction who was
also born in 1995. Makes you think, doesn’t it?
Harry celebrated his 21st with footballer David Beckham, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and
TWO ex girlfriends. Likewise, the Cat will celebrate his 21st with veteran members
of the Ireland versus the Rest of the World football squads and Rich Hall’s Hoedown
band, as well as an amazing lineup of the best comedy talent anywhere.
I think we can all agree which will be the better party!
Having worked on so many of them over the years, it is a great honour and pleasure to
present the programme for the 21st Sky Cat Laughs Comedy Festival. It is a tribute to
the clear vision and dogged determination of its founders that it has not only survived
but grown to be one of the world’s best loved comedy festivals – one which has played
a role in the careers of some of the biggest stars in the business.
We’re delighted once again to partner with Sky: not only as a sponsor but also as
a producer of top quality comedy shows which fit so wonderfully with the festival
programme. This year, we’re thrilled to present with Sky an exclusive preview of
After Hours starring Ardal O’Hanlon as well as a sneak peek behind the scenes of Sky
1’s hit comedy Moone Boy when Jason Byrne interviews two of its stars:
David Rawle (Martin) and Ian O’Reilly (Padraic).
Our family friendly programme also returns with the Kitten Club shows in medieval
Rothe House as well as special workshops with the Oscar-nominated Cartoon Saloon studio, which produced the animation for
Sky 1’s Moone Boy.
The Cat is coming of age: come and join us in Kilkenny city for the “best little comedy festival in the world”.
Drink deep, eat well and laugh out loud responsibly.

ABOUT
Sky, Ireland’s leading home entertainment provider, continues its
sponsorship of the Sky Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, collaborating to bring a
host of original content to a dedicated, comedy-loving audience. This year,
Sky is proud to present the premiere of brand new Sky 1 sitcom After Hours
in the company of star Ardal O’Hanlon and director Craig Cash ahead of its
launch later this year.
Comedy is central to Sky’s content investment and the past year has seen
the return of hit series Stella, Moone Boy and Psychobitches with brand
new Mid Morning Matters, Yonderland and Doll & Em still to come.
As the home of Chris O’Dowd and Nick Vincent Murphy’s multi award
winning Moone Boy, we’re proud to present at this year’s festival a special
conversation with Martin and Padraic themselves, aka David Rawle and Ian
O’Reilly, hosted by Jason Byrne.
Jason was also at the helm of the all new Wild Things on Sky 1 this year - a
wild ride of a game show that showed that it can be a jungle out there...
even if it’s just a woodland. Sky continues to be the home of funny factual
programming too. Following the successful run of 50 Ways to Kill Your
Mammy, which debuted at last year’s festival, Baz and Nancy Ashmawy are
currently on their travels filming a brand new set of adventures coming to
Sky 1 soon.
Alongside its commitment to offer customers a greater choice of high-quality
content, Sky is a leading innovator.
Sky+ gives you total control of how you watch TV, including the ability to
record entire series with Smart Series Link, access to Ireland’s biggest
Catch Up TV service, plus you can enjoy more of the latest and greatest, full
series Box Sets. And with Sky Go, you can watch the TV you love, live and on
demand, whenever you want, wherever you are.
In Ireland, Sky employs over 850 people and is committed to creating
opportunities for young people through its Sky Academy TV, Arts and Sports
Scholarships and through the successful roll out of theSky Sports Living for
Sport programme in one third of secondary schools by 2016.

AISLING BEA
FRED COOKE
Aisling returns to Kilkenny with a 2014 British Comedy Award
for Best Female TV Comic under her belt. She was nominated
for a Best Newcomer award at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival
and, in 2012, won So You Think You’re Funny. Recent TV
includes Live at the Apollo, QI and Sky 1’s Trollied.
@WeeMissBea
Fred realised at a young age that he would never become a
professional footballer. It was at this moment that he became a
multi-award winning stand-up comedian (even before his first gig).
Since then he has rapidly become a unique stand-up delivering a
style of comedy that simply (hopefully) cannot be imitated.
@CookeFred
JASON BYRNE
NEIL DELAMERE
Jason is one of the Edinburgh’s most popular acts. His original
brand of high-energy lunacy has brought him nominations
for Best Newcomer and Best Comedy Show at the Edinburgh
Comedy Awards. TV credits include Live at the Apollo, Sky 1’s
Wild Things and Snaptastic for TV3.
@TheJasonByrne
Neil’s live shows have received 5 star reviews at festivals the

Sky 1 Premiere and Q&A with

Ardal O’Hanlon and Craig Cash
in conversation with Jason Byrne
After Hours follows the journey of Willow Hannigan (James
Tarpey, The World’s End), an 18 year old music lover who’s just
had his heart broken for the first time. There are no jobs, his
beautiful ex-girlfriend Jasmine (Georgina Campbell) has moved
on to someone new and most of his mates have gone away to
university whilst he’s been left behind, living with his parents.
The only thing that keeps him sane, other than his best friend
Chris (Fergus Van Gelder) is listening to After Hours. Broadcast
from a canal boat, After Hours is a local internet radio show run
by Lauren (Jaime Winstone) and Ollie (Rob Kendrick), two friends
in their late 20s who have somehow, ended up living in Shankly.
Ardal O’Hanlon stars as Willow’s dad, Peter Hannigan, an exmilkman who found himself jobless when the big supermarket
opened, he’s married to Anna (Susan Cookson) who would
secretly love a job at the new supermarket and John Thomson
plays Geoff, Peter’s best friend who finds sanctuary on the
Hannigan’s sofa. The series, written by Molly Naylor and John
Osborne, is directed by Craig Cash (Early Doors, The Café).
Meet David Rawle and Ian O’Reilly, the stars of Moone Boy,
as they look back at the hit Sky 1 show that propelled them
to stardom in an exclusive conversation with Jason Byrne.
In 2012 the boys took up their roles as Martin Moone and
Padraic O’Dwyer and we all took them to our hearts in Chris
O’Dowd and Nick Vincent Murphy’s semi-autobiographical
series Moone Boy.
Set in Boyle, Co Roscommon, in the late 80s/early 90s,
the show follows the adventures of the youngest member
of the Moone family, 11-year-old Martin (David Rawle), as
he negotiates growing up amid a chaotic family with the
support of his imaginary friend, Sean Murphy (O’Dowd), and
real life friend Padraic (Ian O’Reilly). In this special event the
two will talk about their Moone Boy journeys and their fun
friendship that endures off screen
as well as on.
