Old Song New Lyrics Competition
We would like to invite the students of your school to participate in the captioned
Competition.
This competition is organised for all primary and secondary schools with the
theme “Clean Recycling for Green Hong Kong”, to promote to the public the messages
about clean recycling. Details are set out in the attached Information Sheet.
Winners of the Competition will be awarded certificates and attractive prizes and be
invited to attend the Publicity Event of the 2015 World Environment Day to be held in
June 2015.
I should be grateful if you would complete and return the Enrolment Form
(Appendix I) to the ECC Secretariat on or before 15 April 2015 (Wednesday).

Information Sheet
1.
Overview
The World Environment Day (WED) was established by the United Nations (UN) in
1972 and was commemorated on 5 June every year to stimulate global awareness of the
environment and enhance attention to anticipate environmental problems.
To
commemorate 2015 WED, the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC), the
Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and the Education Bureau (EDB) jointly
organise an Old Song New Lyrics Competition for all primary and secondary schools.
2.
Theme of the Competition
The theme of the 2015 WED is “Clean Recycling for Green Hong Kong”. It aims to
arouse public awareness of the importance of clean recycling and encourage proper use
of the recycling facilities.
To promote the theme, students are encouraged to create new lyrics for old songs, so as
to remind the public the importance of clean recycling. For information about clean
recycling, please refer to the “Waste Less” mobile application launched by EPD (QR
Code at the bottom of this page).
3.
Details of the Competition

Enrolment
Schools are required to complete and return the Enrolment Form (Appendix I) to
the ECC Secretariat on or before 15 April 2015 (Wednesday).

Format
The Contest is divided into Primary School Category and Secondary School
Category. All primary and secondary schools are eligible to join the competition.
Parents are welcome to join their kids to create the new lyrics for the Primary
School Category.

Participants have to fill in new lyrics (Chinese or English) in one of the following
designated songs –

Submission of entries
Participating schools are required to submit the lyrics and the demo of the song in
CD-Rom together with the Entry Submission Form (Appendix II) to the ECC
Secretariat on or before 7 May 2015 (Thursday) to compete for the awards. Each
school is limited to submit two entries only.


Award Presentation
Winners would be invited to attend the Publicity Event of World Environment Day 2015
to be held on 5 June 2015 to receive the prizes. Winning entries will probably be
produced as promotional materials for clean recycling.

Terms and Conditions


The submission should be original and has never been submitted to other

Personal Information
Personal information collected is confidential and restricted for this competition
only.

Disqualification
The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any participant in connection with the
breach of the rules or any other reasons deemed to be appropriate.

Declaration of the Rights
 The organisers reserve the rights to amend and interpret the rules of
competition and all issues related to the competition.
 The organisers are granted the rights to use and amend the entries
unconditionally and use them to produce any item without compensation to
the entrants concerned.
 The organisers are granted the rights to publish or exhibit the entries in any
other form of media platforms, and to duplicate or display the entries for
promotional purposes.

Copyright
 The submission of an entry shall be deemed as the granting of consent to the
unconditional transfer of all copyright to the organisers.
 All participants must be the sole and exclusive owner of the copyright in the
Entry. Entries should not infringe any rights of any third party.
