I. things to see
In Havana, everything begins and ends at
the Malecón, the avenue that runs along the
seawall. A place where there’s a mix of periods
in time, architectural styles and above all, the
Cuban people for whom it is a privileged
meeting point, day or night. It is where you
will find quintessential Cuban life.
The Malecon is nothing less than the city’s
most emblematic location.

Habana Vieja,
Havana
Avenida del Malecon,
Havana
The Vedado district is one of the city’s treasures,
with lush vegetation and colonial mansions.
Probably the best area to dive into Havana’s rich
cultural scene: el Vedado is indeed packed with
cinemas, theatres, concert halls and museums.
3
The Habana Vieja historic district begins at the
far end of Malecon Avenue. The best way to
explore this unique colonial gem is by walking
around its narrow streets.
Vedado,
havana
Boxing is one of Cuba’s favorite sports, and the
island boasts an unrivaled line of champions
such as Kid Chocolate. Maybe it has to do
with Cuban fighting spirit: whatever the
challenge, Cubans will rise to it and will always
find ways to move forward. Boxing is practiced
in various places in Havana, particularly at the
Rafael Trejo gym: an open-sky ring trapped
between two pastel-colored buildings. A very
special ambiance is felt at the matches to which
the audience flocks every day after 4pm or on
Friday nights at 7pm

Calle Cuba No.815 between
Calles Merced & Leonor Perez,
Habana Vieja
I. things to see
Located at the end of central Vedado street,
Calle 23, La Rampa is a very popular walk
for Habaneros of all ages: it is lined with bars,
cafés, dancing venues but also cinemas. Always
crowded, it is a great place to experience
Havana’s incomparable atmosphere.
5
Calle 23,
Vedado
Cuba is renowned for its dynamic art scene and
film-making. The ICAIC is an institute dedicated
to the cinematographic industry. It houses a
remarkable collection of silkscreen movie posters
testifying to the country’s long history of graphic
design. Film posters make an original souvenir:
you can buy them in a shop located behind the
Fresa y Chocolate café, in front of the ICAIC.
6
Calle 23 No.1155
between Calles 10 y 12,
Vedado
Giraldilla
Rum is undoubtedly Cuba’s national and favorite
beverage and this museum is the perfect place
to learn everything about the most popular and
most famous Cuban rum.
7
Avenida del Puerto 262
between Sol y Muralla,
Habana Vieja
The Giraldilla is the emblem of Havana City.
The legend says that she is still awaiting the
return of her husband, Hernando De Soto, a
former viceroy of Cuba that sailed off to the
conquest Florida. She protects the capital and
gazes at the horizon with pride.

Plaza de Armas,
between Calle O’Reilly y
Avenida del Puerto,
Habana Vieja
I. things to see
On calle 17 – the ex- “Avenida de los
Millionarios”- is the superb Decorative Arts
Musem, former home of a Spanish countess that
today houses a remarkable collection of furniture
and precious objects.
11
Calle 17 No.502,
between Calles D y E,
Vedado
What we love about the Hotel Riviera is its
stunning style and architecture transports you into
the 1950’s. Its seawater pool was the biggest
in town for decades! The fact that it was built
by the notorious mobster Meyer Lansky makes it
even more intriguing!

Vedado
II. bars
Located on a small cobbled street in the beating
heart of Havana, La B del M is one of Cuba’s
most legendary bars, especially to drink a
mojito. This incomparable place has been
warmly greeting visitors for decades. Inside,
fantastic objects, frames, pictures are piling up
in the purest unique style of the Cuban capital.
The walls, floor to ceiling, are covered with
enthusiastic guests’ inscriptions, and recount a
thousand of memories.
11
Calle Empedrado
No. 207 between
Calles Cuba y San Ignacio,
Habana Vieja
With its privileged location in the middle of
Vedado district, the Hotel Nacional de Cuba
is considered a symbol of history, culture and
Cuban identity. Its elegant patio and quiet
gardens overlooking the seawall and the
magnificent Malecon avenue are a place of
choice for a drink before or after dinner.
13
Calle 21 and O,
Vedado
Cuban bartenders – cantineros – have invented
some of the world’s best known and best loved
cocktails, including the Frozen Daiquiri for
which el Floridita is the bar of all bars and the
birthplace. People come from far and wide
to watch these top profesionnals practicing their
art.

Calle Obispo No. 557,
corner with calle
Monserrate,
Habana Vieja
III. restaurants
The magic of this gastronomic high spot
located at the heart of Havana sets in from
the very moment you walk through the door
of the former mansion. You have to cross
the first floor decorated with drying clothes
and an immense marble staircase that leads
to the restaurant housed on the top floor of
the building. Filmmaker Juan Carlos Tabío
immortalized the place in the 1990s in the
hit Cuban Film Fresa y Chocolate.
14
Calle Concordia No.418
between calles
Gervasio y Escoba,
Centro Habana.
Vista Mar is a family-run restaurant -or paladar
– with a swimming pool that dives into the sea
and offers an outstanding palette of blue hues.
This peninsula-style restaurant also borders old
mansions and their abandoned pools, vestiges
of Cuba’s Golden Age. These contrasts make for
an uncommon place. Beyond the mere pleasure
of the setting, you may savor the
famous Mariposa lobster.
16
Avenida 1 No.2206
between calles 22 & 24,
Miramar
In the warmest typical Cuban atmosphere Le
Chansonnier combines the timeless charm of a
typical faded Vedado villa with a very modern
décor: enjoy walking through every room –
sensationally designed.
15
Calle J N.o 257
between Calles 13 & 15,
Vedado
IV. Night out
It’s impossible to talk about Havana without
mentioning music. Music is everywhere. Havana
is the Latin capital of Jazz and La Zorra y el
Cuervo, with its curious English phone box
outside its door on calle 23, is THE place to
go and listen to Cuba’s top jazz musicians.
17
18
Calle 13 No.259,
between calles I and J,
Vedado
Calle 23 No.155,
between calle N et calle O,
Vedado
Havana is famous for its tireless energy and love
of partying. There’s no better way of joining the
fun than by going clubbing. But check out what’s
happening where and when beforehand: a
place that’s crowded one night may be empty
the next. Among the clubs, Don Cangrejo is a
must: this open air seafood restaurant hosts some
of the hottest evenings in town several times
a week, around its fabulous pool.
19
The Bertold Brecht cultural center is a major
venue for young Cuban people and attracts
the best of up-and-coming Cuban musicians.
Avenida 1 No.1606,
between calles 16 and 18,
Miramar
Located inside the famous Hotel Riviera, next to
the city’s waterfront, the Copa Room – once a
casino - is sporadically a great location to enjoy
the spirit of Havana’s nights. Make sure to check
the venue’s agenda in advance!
