A: Allowing newspapers to pile up in your driveway while you are on a vacation can be an immediate indication to thieves that you may not be home. This allows them the opportunity to break in to your home or check your mailbox for important banking information, social security numbers, etc. You should suspend the delivery of newspapers and mail while you are away for extended periods of time, or have a trusted neighbor collect your newspapers and mail until you return. BOTTOM LINE: Sorta Bad! www.21fss.com O P S E C how bad is it… ...to throw out your mail instead of shredding it once you are done with it? A: Simply throwing away your mail can be very dangerous because your mail likely has your personal information on it. Even your junk mail has your name and address on it! You should always shred your mail once you are finished with it, go "e" with your bills and billing statements, and monitor your accounts monthly to prevent unauthorized purchases. All of these tips will benefit you when a thief decides to dumpster dive. BOTTOM LINE: Pretty Bad! 17 “My family and I are elated to be a part of the 21 FSS and the Peterson AFB community! Our team of outstanding Force Support professionals is dedicated to our Airmen and their families, with the ever present goal to “Exceed Expectations” with each of our customers.
