Environmental Club Cross Country (fall) Fiddlers, Orchestra Assistants Golf Club Chess Club 7/8 Grades: Show Choir, Color Guard, Dance Team, Cheerleading, STUCO, Drumline, Jazz Band and Ensemble, Basketball, Lockers - August 13 get combo and practice Tardies - team classes are close together! Crowded halls - only 750 students, once 1400! Lunch - students eat with friends, all 6th graders at one time, more food selections than elementary, monitor spending in SIS, 5 lunch debt max = $13.75 “Where do I go?” - students review schedules before leaving class Dressing out for PE - they get used to it, PE t-shirts can be purchased Aug 13 & in bookstore at lunch Many teachers - keep communication open with phone calls and email Staying active - daily PE; recess at lunch No parent involvement - Stay involved! Your student needs you now more than ever! Peer pressure - Stay connected and involved in your student’s life. Talk about pressures before they present themselves. Cliques - Encourage your student to meet new friends from all 3 elementary schools. Changes in student - Physical and biological transitions bring mood swings - it is normal! Organization - Many class so use an agenda book, team website, school website, Remind, etc... When do 6th graders bring their supplies? - When team teachers tell them, NOT on day 1! Flyer Cards - Teachers sign for missing work or behavior concerns. Contact is made by team after 3 signatures. April 23 or 27 Parent Orientation May 7 - Fly Up Day All 5th graders visit Sperreng 1:15-3:05 p.m. Back to their building for normal end of day release August 13 - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Transition Day for all 6th graders 8-8:30 a.m. and 11:30-12 noon Parent Tours at drop off and pick up August 20, 2015 First Day of Middle School 7:40 a.m. - 2:40 a.m. (earliest drop off is 7:15 a.m.) We’re excited to have your student at Sperreng!
