Food preparation in a jiffy
When baby is hungry, it’s needed to move very,
very fast. But germ and bacteria formation means
that drinking water needs to be boiled first, before
it can be cooled to the recommended drinking
temperature for preparing a bottle. This takes its
toll on both time and nerves.
Depending on the specific recommendations of
the follow-on milk or formula manufacturer,
powder should only be added to water once it
has cooled to 40, 50, 60 or 70°C. If the temperature
falls below 40°C, the powder will not dissolve
properly and lumps will form. On the other hand,
exceeding the recommended temperature
destroys important nutrients such as probiotic
cultures.
