Cajun’s Baton Rouge Hiring Center
T
he past year has brought many changes
to Cajun’s Baton Rouge Hiring Center. At
one time we were looking at moving the
hiring center away from the main office, but
after evaluating our options we decided to keep
it on the Baton Rouge Campus. The hiring center
is located in the Bayou Building. If you were
not aware, Cajun named the three buildings on
the Baton Rouge campus. The original building
is called the Pelican Building, the old Deep
Foundations Building is now called the Bayou
Building and the new office building is called the
Magnolia Building.
The Cajun operating groups which work out of
the Baton Rouge and surrounding areas that will
recruit and hire from this newly renovated hiring
center are:
• Cajun Industries
• Cajun Constructors Industrial Division
• Cajun Deep Foundations
•
Cajun Industrial Design and Construction
(Cajun IDC)
• Other groups may utilize the facility on an as
needed basis
In addition to the consolidation of our local hiring
efforts, the new facility has changed the way
Cajun processes new employees. Cajun now
accepts electronic applications via the web.
Anyone may fill out an application online by simply

to visit the Safety Council. Last but not least, we
conduct the new hire orientation at the hiring
center so that when a new employee is sent to
the site, they are ready to go to work, eliminating
the need for the jobsite to conduct the four hours
of orientation. As we like to say, we are a one
stop shop. Beginning on December 14, 2015 all
phases of the hiring center have been working
and we successfully processed one hundred new
hires in a three week period without any major
issues. We are in the process of upgrading the
Lake Charles and Houston hiring centers to
provide similar services.

Cajun Participates in Geaux Build
C
ajun Industries teamed up with Baton
Rouge Community College and West
Baton Rouge Parish School System to
provide Brusly and Port Allen High Schools an
informational session about dual high school
enrollment in Heavy Equipment Operations
for 20 students at BRCC’s Port Allen Campus.
Cajun Employee Paul Schexnaydre
Wins Silver Coin Safety Award
P
aul Schexnaydre of Walker, LA has been
working in construction since he was
16 years old, and has been employed
by Cajun since 2008. His training was put to
the test in November when Paul witnessed
a Fluor Technip Integrated employee
entering an area that had been classified as
a confined space without an attendant and
permit. He stopped him and informed him of
the site policy.
High school students who enrolled in the
program received NCCER Certification and
credits toward graduation. West Baton
Rouge School District provided students with
transportation from Port Allen and Brusly
High Schools each afternoon four days a
week to learn about start up, maintenance
and operation of heavy equipment. Upon
graduation, students are immediately
available for assessment and qualified for
positions within Cajun.
Because of Paul’s quick thinking, he was
awarded the Silver Coin Certificate of
Recognition for “Near Miss Reporting”. The
near miss could have resulted in severe
consequences to an employee, property,
equipment, environment or the community.
Paul was committed to demonstrating the
behaviors that are consistent and positive
in sustaining the vision of zero harm to the
employees.

Cajun IDC Wins Dow LHC-9
Cooling Tower Area Project
A
s part of its Gulfstream initiative,
Dow Chemical Company is
constructing a new 1.5 million
ton per year LHC-9 ethylene cracker
at its Oyster Creek site. Cajun’s safety,
quality, and schedule performance on its
recently completed PUI Project permitted
us to be considered for the many LHC9 opportunities. Cajun IDC participated
in the bidding process and was recently
awarded the LHC-9 Cooling Tower Area
project.
The project is located at Dow’s Oyster
Creek Site and will consist of piping and
structural steel erection. It consists of
approximately 29,000 linear feet of pipe
and 21 tons of steel with an erection
schedule of 10 months to complete. This
will be a very challenging job due to the
number of construction professionals
on site working in close proximity to
each other. It will require significant
coordination with onsite scaffolding
resources and receiving material from
another contractor’s laydown facility.
Project success will be measured by
planning and coordinating critical path
activities and is a major milestone in the
overall status of the LHC-9 expansion.
Cajun looks forward to this opportunity
and is confident our project team is up
for the challenge while providing a safe
and healthy work environment for our
employees and others.

America’s Troops Receive
a Merry “Cajun” Christmas
O
nce again this Christmas season,
Cajun provided care packages to
our troops. The 26 soldiers receiving
the care packages were family members
and friends of Cajun employees, and
represented all branches of the US military.
Each care package included items such
as protein bars, snacks, first aid supplies,
and Louisiana seasonings such as Tabasco,
Louisiana Hot Sauce and Tony Chachere’s.
Each soldier also received a Cajun cap as
well as a Christmas card signed by Cajun
employees.
A special thank you to all our service men
and women serving our Country!

Toys for Tots
T
his year, the Cajun Family at the Sasol
Mega Project was fortunate enough to
be able to touch the lives of children
in the community. Cajun has worked hard to
help make the U.S. Marine Cops “Toys for Tots”
event a huge success. With the generosity of
our employees, we collected an assortment
of toys for children of all ages. Janice Guidry,
an expeditor/buyer, stated “It makes my heart
feel good to support our Marines in giving to
the Toys for Tots charity. I am proud to be a
part of the Cajun team that gives back to the
community.” Sue Daggett, a field clerk, added
“I feel every child deserves to feel the magic
of Christmas.”
We are so grateful to be included in such a
positive experience and plan to give back for
years to come. Cajun would like to thank all
those who participated in brightening a child’s
Christmas this year.

T
his past November, Cajun’s Eric
Kelly traveled to Gettysburg,
PA to attend True Growth 360
leadership training. He admits that
he was pretty reluctant to go, but
was pleasantly surprised when he
completed the program.
At the first session, he met the True
Growth facilitators. They were very
professional and an accomplished
group of individuals, and Eric was
impressed. This type of leadership
training was different than other
training that he had attended before,
due to the feedback that he received
from his other True Growth participants.
The feedback was anonymous, so it
gave Eric a true look at how others
viewed him. The feedback he received
was positive and it also showed some
areas that needed improvement.
One added bonus was the last day
of their training, they got to tour the
Gettysburg Battlefield. They learned
about the three day battle, dissected
why the battlefield leaders made their
decisions, and how those decisions
could be tied to the leadership
decisions we make on a daily basis.
When asked about his experience,
Eric said, “For me it was a great
opportunity to pay tribute to the many
men who fought and died for what they
believed in. Overall, the True Growth
360 leadership conference was a very
informative and positive experience.”

What position are you now in? Assistant
Project Manager
Describe your craft training: I became more
familiar with blueprint reading, learned more indepth information on the terminology associated
with my craft, as well as proper safety protocols.
In the field, some knowledgeable journeymen
mentored me. As I was promoted, I was mentored
by some of the best superiors in the business.
What are the benefits of craft training and
NCCER certification? Learning a craft and
getting certification makes you more desirable
to employers. It also allows you the opportunity
to move up the ranks faster. It gives you the
knowledge and confidence to educate newer
employees about safely performing the craft.
What advice would you give to those
interested in craft training and NCCER
Certification? Never lose the desire to further
your education. No matter how long the journey
may seem, the destination is worth your
sacrifice. Always seek to make yourself an asset
to your company.
What craft did you study? Carpentry
C
ajun employees have achieved much
success attending ABC craft training and
earning NCCER credentials. This craft
spotlight interview shows how credentialing
has helped these Cajun employees achieve
success and why our Cajun employees are
encouraged to attend craft classes.
What additional educational training have
you received? I’ve earned an Associate’s Degree
in Industrial Engineering from ITT Tech, and I am
currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program
with ITT Tech to obtain a degree in Construction
Project Management.

Cajun Deep Foundations, LLC
ajun Deep Foundations is widely
recognized at the Sasol LCCP project for
our ability to execute daily field operations
while positively impacting the project as a
preeminent leader in safety. The forefront of
our successful safety culture comes from the
variety, commitment, and utmost participation
from our field staff. The members of the
mentorship program contribute by showcasing
their experience and perseverance in keeping
the “Cajun Culture” alive and demonstrating it
to our new Cajun employees on site. Another
contributing factor to our outstanding participation
is our CDF crew of the week incentive program,
which rewards crew members with a gift card
redeemable at local restaurants and the bragging
rights as the most compliant/safest CDF crew
on the entire project. Not to mention, we pay
tribute to the dedication of 181 employees
that submit at least one hazard recognition per
week. With several employees exceeding the
minimum each week, you can do the math and
see safety in our numbers. All of these elements
combined are what makes the Sasol project
team unique in consistently raising the bar to
a level of excellence through involvement from
all who contribute in developing, growing and
strengthening our “Cajun Culture”.

Cajun Continues Superior
Work at Marathon Petroleum
I
n November of 2015, Cajun IDC leveraged
the current Cajun contractual agreement with
Marathon Petroleum to participate in work at
their Texas Refining Division (TRD) facility in Texas
City. The work consists of multiple small capital
mechanical projects throughout the facility
including on-site pipe fabrication, erection and
system turnover. The original request consisted
of multiple small crews of skilled employees in
hopes the opportunities would grow.
Due to the successful field execution and project
administration, Cajun IDC was asked to bring on
additional skilled craftsman in order to take on
more work. Through the work completed so far,
Cajun IDC has completed several packages and
secured packages through the first quarter of
2016. We are committed to providing a familiar
client with safe, quality and efficient construction
services.
The team involved with Marathon Texas City
includes: Superintendent Les Whisneant, Project
Manager Craig Kaspar, Project Coordinator Matt
Davidson, Project Services Sherman Sholars,
Quality Control Manager Scott Winterberg, OnSite Quality Control Andy Bingham, Regional
Safety Manager Ralph Gasca, On-Site Safety
Manager Bryan Fipps, and many others.

401(k) Plan
Employer Match:
Cajun matched in excess of $1.2 million to participant accounts
during the 2015 plan year! The increase in participation over the
past year is a great sign that Cajun employees understand the
importance of saving for retirement and are taking advantage of
opportunity to do so in our 401(k) plan. The match is 100% on the
first $1,000 and 50% on the next $2,000 that a participant defers
into the plan. In order to receive the maximum match available of
$2,000, participants need to defer at least $3,000 into the plan
annually.
Deferral Limits for 2016:
IRS deferral limits for 401(k) contributions did not change. The
limit is $18,000. In addition, the 2016 catch-up contribution limit
for those participants over the age of 50 is an extra $6,000.

Employees who participate in the high deductible health plan are
encouraged to consider opening a health savings account. The
HSA allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis, and pay
for qualified out of pocket medical expenses tax free. A debit card
is provided for use to pay for medical expenses. This is a very
convenient way to pay for medical expenses that go toward your
deductible and coinsurance.
High deductible health plan participants can open a HSA at any
time. Weekly deferral amounts can be changed at any time,
and account balances transfer over from year to year (not
use it or lose it). 2016 IRS contribution limits are: $3,350 for

Health Plan
It’s the start of a new year and it is time to think about your health
goals for the year if you haven’t already done so. One of the most
important places to start is by scheduling your annual physical.
Annual physicals are covered at 100% with no co-insurance or copay, regardless of what health plan you participate in. An annual
physical is a critical tool in opening a line of communication with
your family physician about your health, and steps you might
need to take in order to improve your health.

Cajun’s benefits, please contact the Benefits Department at (225)

LEDA COLLEPS
What is your background? Where did you grow
up/your hometown?
I was born and raised in Baton Rouge – somewhat of
an unusual commodity now-a-days. I was only away
from home for a year when I lived in Topeka, Kansas. It
was quite a change in the food, folks and the weather.
What position do you hold with Cajun?
I work for Cajun Equipment Services and my official
title is “Office Manager”. But I don’t consider my job
a typical office manager. I have to track and oversee
the billing of company owned equipment, participate
in the buying and selling of same, and our vehicle fleet.
Becoming a notary while working for Cajun has helped
in our endeavors.
What brought you to/how did you come to work
for Cajun?
After working for 9 years at Exxon Chemical in the A/P
department, we were informed that the department
was moving to Houston, so I had to find a new job.
I saw an ad for the A/P department for Cajun and
applied. I guess the rest is history. After about a year
and a half working for A/P, Mike Bates offered me
the position of Administrative Assistant in Equipment
Services.
What do you think it is that sets Cajun apart from
other companies?
From my experience, Lane Grigsby. I would have to
say the integrity with which this company was started
and the standard of excellence and professionalism
that he set for all aspects of Cajun is what truly sets
Cajun apart. And the fact that this is still a family
owned company. Quite different in atmosphere from
the other positions I have held.
Is there a specific project that sticks out in your
mind and why?
I guess like most folks that have been with Cajun for
some time, it would have to be Katrina and the work
we did for the restoration of our state – fighting the
good fight.
Sometimes folks forget that Equipment Services
doesn’t build anything. We provide the equipment and
the big trucks to move anything our Superintendents
or Project Managers need to build and complete their
jobs successfully. And, as the “on-hold” message
states – “meticulously maintained equipment” is also
something we do here at Equipment Services.
What is your favorite movie and why?
How do you pick a favorite movie? There are so
many excellent choices. From Oscar winners to
really dumb movies that just make you laugh till you
cry. Again, how do you pick a favorite?
What is the most memorable event that has
happened while you have worked at Cajun?
Again I would have to say Katrina. 18 hour days for
several months, for seven days a week. Made for
some really nice paychecks, but…
Also, being a part of the team that originally integrated
Viewpoint into the accounting department.
Tenure Milestones
What aspect of your job do you enjoy most?
The most enjoyable aspect of my job is definitely
getting to interact with all of the superintendents,
project managers, and field folks with all the different
companies. It makes for non-boring days and very
interesting opportunities to learn.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work / Hobbies?
Outside of work…is there anything more fun than
grandchildren?
My husband Dale, who I met here at Cajun, and I
really enjoy listening to music, especially Blues. He
is a musician, so I have attained an appreciation of
music I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
And cooking. And rock collecting. And hunting. And
fishing. And just hanging out with the kids.
Spouse? Children? Grandchildren? If so, names
with ages of children.
Dale and I have been married for almost 8 years.
Together we have 4 kids and 9 grandchildren. They
are spread out in age from 2 years old to 18 years
old and from Denham Springs to New Roads, to
Whitefish, Montana with a group in Wooster, Ohio.
Makes travel kinda fun.
If you had a dream vacation, where would you go?
My dream vacation would be to gather up my family
and go somewhere together. Doesn’t really matter
where, just so long as we were together. I am
thinking maybe the beach!
If you could meet someone famous, who would
it be and why?
Well, time to get serious. The person I would like to
meet would be my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – so
I could say thank you – for loving me and providing a
world with the Grace that only He could provide.

Training for your future...
C
ajun has stepped up its efforts
in emphasizing to employees the
value of accessing the various
opportunities that exist in training.
Whether you are a field craftsman or
woman or office personnel, continuous
training can better your skill, career
and often advancement. The ability to
advance through continuous training is
what makes our industry an exciting
and rewarding career. Whether it
is through our various Associated
Builders and Contractor chapters along
the Gulf Coast, various state technical
colleges or internal and external
training modules and classes, there are
ample opportunities to enhance your
skills. If you are interested in career
development, you should contact
your supervisor or our Workforce
Development
Coordinator,
Chris
Newton, to see what opportunities
exist for you.
Congratulations go out to all of those
who participated on the Methanex and
Chevron Phillips projects which won
the President’s Award.
Cajun is placing an emphasis on
streamlining the employee hiring
process. The new processes being put
into practice will consolidate some of
the applicant requirements under one
roof such as drug testing, physicals
and site specific safety videos. These
will save time in the hiring process
and save the time it takes for a new
employee to be productive once he or
she enters the construction site.
Formación para su futuro…
We thank Matt Erwin, Tommy
Celangelo, Casey Kinkelear and Randall
Kennedy for their hazard recognition
awareness. A hazard recognized is an
incident avoided. Also, we are proud
of Paul Schexnaydre for winning the
LCCP Silver Coin award for a hazard
recognized that saved a potential
serious injury. Congratulations to Leda
Colleps as the employee spotlight. Your
efforts make our equipment services
group invaluable to our construction
success.
In closing, there are so many
employees in this quarter that have
enhanced their skills through various
training methods. I congratulate each
of you and hope others take note. With
a skilled and safe workforce, Cajun will
continue to achieve great results. In
addition, there are so many who have
given their time and talents to worthy
community involvement. Thanks for
giving back and representing Cajun
well.
Until next quarter, be safe and thank
you for your loyalty to Cajun. Lastly,
God bless and protect our troops and
the families they leave behind and I am
hopeful they enjoyed receiving their
Christmas care packages.

C
Agradecemos a Matt Erwin, Tommy
Celangelo, Casey Kinkelear and
Randall Kennedy por su conciencia
de reconocimiento del riesgo. Un
riesgo reconocido es un incidente
evitado. También, estamos orgullosos
de Paul Schexnaydre por ganar el
premio de LCCP Silver Coin por un
riesgo reconocido que salvó una lesión
potencialmente grave. Felicitaciones
a Leda Colleps como el empleado
distinguido. Sus esfuerzos hacen
nuestro grupo de servicio de equipo
inestimable para nuestro éxito de
construcción.
Hasta el próximo cuarto, cuídese y
gracias por su lealtad a Cajun. Por
último, Dios bendice y protege a
nuestras tropas y las familias que
dejan atrás y tengo la esperanza que
disfrutaron en recibir sus paquetes
navideños.
Milton Graugnard
Vice Presidente Ejecutivo
Para terminar, hay tantos empleados
en este cuarto que han [mejorado/
realzado] sus habilidades a través
de varios métodos de formación.
Congratulo a cada uno de ustedes y
espero que otros tomen nota. Con una
mano de obra calificada y segura, Cajun
seguirá logrando grandes resultados.
Además, hay tantos que han dado su
tiempo y talentos a digna participación
de la comunidad. Gracias por dar a su
comunidad y representar Cajun bien.
