Get to know Armstrong State University
Situated on the Atlantic coast in beautiful Savannah, Georgia, Armstrong State
University is a dynamic public university known for excellent arts and sciences along with
outstanding professional programs. With approximately 7,100 students, Armstrong is small
enough to foster a genuine sense of community and large enough to offer more than 100
academic programs that prepare our graduates for success in their careers and leadership in
their communities. Armstrong State University is part of the University System of Georgia. It is
also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to
award associate’s, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
Armstrong is ideally located just 25 miles from Tybee Island Beach. To the north, just
15 minutes away, lies the downtown Savannah Historic District with its Revolutionary and Civil
War-era homes, idyllic squares surrounded by magnificent Spanish moss-draped oaks, and an
exciting nightlife scene along River Street and in City Market. The 268-acre campus is a
beautiful arboretum adjacent to a busy area of shopping malls, movie theaters and
restaurants. The main campus is located in Savannah, GA (see address listed above). However,
we also have an affiliated center in Hinesville, GA: Liberty Center, 740 East General Stewart
Way, Suite 210, Hinesville, GA, 31313.
Student life is vibrant on campus! Armstrong has 80+ clubs and organizations and
offers more than 100 plays, concerts, art exhibits, lectures, films and other presentations each
year. The College Union Board and individual campus organizations stage dozens of events
each year including concerts, comedy performances, dances, poetry slams, open mic nights
and festivals. Even more, there are numerous study abroad opportunities available each year.

Alabama, and Florida (see Armstrong State University_Boarder State Resident Waiver PDF included as separate file on the flash drive). More than 85% of Armstrong students receive financial aid in a variety of forms including scholarships, grants, loans and work/study programs.
Armstrong and Georgia Southern offer a collaborative program that begins with an associate of
science degree at Armstrong and then completes a bachelor's degree in Engineering at Georgia
Southern.
The men’s and women’s tennis teams both won the 2008, 2009, and 2012 NCAA Division II
Championships, the 2012 Peach Belt Regular Season and Tournament Championships, and ITA All
American Honors in both singles and doubles. The women’s team also recently won the 2010
National Championship title. Women's team members won Peach Belt Freshman of the Year and
Peach Belt Coach of the Year. Men's team members won Peach Belt Player of the Year, ITA
National Player To Watch, Peach Belt Freshman of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the
Year.
Armstrong offers 4 residential complexes—Compass Point, University Crossing, University
Terrace, and Windward Commons. These currently house more than 1400 students in apartmentstyle facilities.
Our new student union is now open. The university’s first “green” building includes a 300-seat,
food court-style dining area, a 200-seat lecture hall/movie theater, and a ballroom. The 60,180
square feet also houses a convenience store, bookstore and coffee shop .
The recently remodeled Lane Library contains more than 200,000 books, 18,000 audiovisuals,
1,000 journals, and a myriad of digital resources.
Armstrong has approximately 30,000 alumni. They include community leaders, attorneys, a
college president, scientists, physicians, nurses, teachers, computer programmers, a newspaper
editor, actors, and even a zookeeper.
