Today, more than six million children live with
a grandparent. In one-third of these homes,
there are no parents. That means more than
one million older people now bringing up their
children’s children on their own.
It is more important than ever for
grandparents to refresh their parenting skills
and to learn how to deal with raising a child in
a new and ever-changing environment.
To help you meet some of the challenges you
may face, Englewood Hospital and Medical
Center is offering a hands-on conference and
luncheon for grandparents who are raising
grandchildren. It is FREE and open to
grandmothers and grandfathers who are fulltime or part-time caregivers of children of any
age – from newborns to teenagers.
A variety of physicians, health, and other
professionals will be on hand to discuss a
range of topics relating to both child care and
self-care. They will offer practical advice and
demonstrate techniques, when necessary. Of
course, they will answer any questions you may
have about the topics presented.
There will also be a resource fair that attendees
can visit during the registration hour where a
number of organizations will offer helpful
information and giveaways.
Attendees will receive a Certificate of
Completion upon meeting the goals of the
conference.
