With the attractive Mao-inspired theme still very much in place, the restaurant continues to turn heads for its excellent value as much as the décor. The second Hot Pot opened at Far East in September 2001. 27 Teahouse at China Squar e Replacing the original House of Mao Restaurant, the Teahouse at China Square was launched in May 2001 to great success. Occupying the entire third level of the China Square Food Centre, the Teahouse is a firm favourite with the office crowds that flock to the restaurant at lunchtime for quality Dim Sum and Chinatown favourites at affordable prices. With its engaging ambience, old-fashioned Dim Sum trolleys and bustling atmosphere, the Teahouse at China Square is a hot favourite with families on the weekend as well. 28 LingZhi Vegetarian Restaurant, Liat Towers LingZhi Vegetarian Restaurant, Far East Squar e After close to ten years in the basement of Orchard Towers, LingZhi Vegetarian Restaurant made the move to Liat Towers, just a stone’s throw away from the strategic intersection of Scotts Road and Orchard Road. In hues of bright yellow, ‘bouquets’ of aeroponic lettuce provide appropriate table-centrepieces, and compliment perfectly the awardwinning cuisine. In September 2002, LingZhi Vegetarian Restaurant opened a second outlet at Far East Square, bringing its restorative goodness to the Central Business District. 29 Paddyfields Thai Restaurant and Sanliubar Conveniently located outside Anchorpoint Shopping Centre in the heritage building known as ‘The Copperdome’, the Group took over the management of Paddyfields in late July 2001. Following a quick renovation to the premises, the restaurant reopened in August with the restaurant occupying the entire second level and an enchanting new ‘chill-out’ venue on the first floor. Named for the address of the building (368 Alexandra Road), sanliubar was the first of the Group’s forary into the bar and beverage scene. 30 F&B Outlets at the Arena Country Club In August 2001, the Group took over the management of the three Food and Beverage outlets at the newly opened Arena Country Club, located opposite the SAFTI Military Training institute. Of greatest prominence was the Tung Lok Seafood Arena, the sister restaurant of the Tung Lok Seafood Gallery at the East Coast Recreation Centre.
