CNC PROFILED 4150 MAIN BODIES
BLP offers 4150 HP main bodies with oversize venturi’s.
The venturi is a profiled radius rather than a straight bore.
This is achieved by machining the bodies on a CNC lathe
where the radius can be programmed to start above the
venturi and continue beyond the venturi to where the base
plate attaches. This process allows you to achieve maximum air flow. The following part numbers are machined
only and no polishing or tumbling is done. Add “M” to end
of part number when ordering fully polished and colored
bodies. Custom sizes available, please call for details.

CNC Profiled 4500 Main Bodies
The following main bodies are profile machined on a
CNC lathe. They have the radius profiled and venturi centered. The throttle bore and transfer slot remain stock. The
bodies are then tumbled for a good cosmetic appearance.

OVERSIZE DOMINATOR® Main Bodies
When boring
the throttle bores in
Dominator® carburetors one problem that
is encountered is the
transfer slot. As the diameter of the throttle bore increases,
the width of the transfer slot increases as well. This results
in a very rich idle and poor part throttle operation. Also, as
the throttle plate gets larger its position in the bore changes
vertically requiring the transfer slots position to change accordingly. In the past, most carburetor tuners and builders
have simply tried to calibrate around this situation.
BLP has designed a special idle transfer slot circuit that
goes into the main body at the same angle as the throttle
plates. This insures the transfer slot location to be the
same regardless of the throttle bore size. The transfer slot
plug extends into the throttle bore so that when the throttle
bore is machined the transfer slot is machined with the
bore. The transfer circuit is independent from all the other
circuits and any casting porosity in the main body has no
effect on the circuit.
First the bodies are machined for removable BLP
transfer slots and then installed at the correct relation to
the throttle shaft bore. The air entry radius is profiled, the
venturi machined and then the throttle bore is machined.
This machining operation is performed on a CNC Lathe
using one continuous tool path. We can machine any
venturi and throttle bore size you desire, however, on the
1050 HP and 1150 HP the maximum throttle bore size is
2.100”. The maximum throttle bore size on the 1250 HP
is 2.200”. Do to the fact that we are machining casting
some porosity may occur.

BLP Split Dominator®
Main Bodies
The split main body plate is machined from 6061 billet
aluminum and features an adjustable throttle stop. The
plates are anodized to resist corrosion.
The main bodies are machined from a raw or partially
machined casting. The bodies are split to make into two
2-barrel main bodies and machined to accept the split
plates. The plates are installed using (10) 6/32 socket head
cap screws and the split plate is sealed to the carb body
with Devcon®. If the main bodies are going to have oversized throttle plates then they are also machined to accept
the special BLP transfer slot circuit.

The modern day high
horsepower engines can use
a lot more air flow than in the
past. Current 500 cubic inch
Pro Stock type engines are
revving past 10,000 RPM and
producing power over 1,300 HP.
Large cubic inch engines such as
Sonny Leonard’s Hemi engines are
800 plus cubic inches. Even with very creative machining
the largest throttle bore you can achieve with a Holley®
4500 main body is 2.200” and even then there is stability
and porosity problems.
BLP has developed a machining method that will enable you to have a 2.375” throttle bore and still maintain
the stock mounting hole location. The booster also remains in the stock location and does not have to be offset.
This is achieved by machining out the entire throttle bore
area past the transfer slot. A billet aluminum throttle bore
insert is machined and inserted into the main body.
The throttle shafts
are bored for needle
roller bearings. Special
removable transfer slots
are installed and then the
throttle bores are machined along with the venturi. The
throttle bores can be machined up to 2.375”. BLP external linkage throttle shafts must be used. Needle roller
throttle shaft bearings are installed.
The main bodies can be purchased as a bare main
body or as an assembly with throttle shafts and anodized
throttle plates installed. You can choose the venturi and
throttle shaft size. Available in both a 4-barrel and a
2-barrel split version.

B-Style accelerator pump nozzle
was engineered to overcome the various
shortcomings of older designs. Its unique
shape streamlines the relatively flat
squirter-boss area of carburetors. The “horseshoe” cast into
the back acts as a fairing on the main body, directing the
fuel to the point at which it’s actually needed. The internal
passageway has been enlarged to enhance fuel flow in all
applications.

The main bodies are then machined on a CNC lathe.
The lathe is programmed with a special Venturi profile for
maximum airflow. This profile has been determined through
extensive research and development. The machining
operation starts at the very top of the main body air entry
and then continues to the throttle bore. Venturi sizes are
available from 1.720” to 2.100” and throttle bore sizes are
available from 1.950” to 2.200”.

high hump heavy duty blank.
The booster leg is sized with
a special ball nosed reamer to ensure better fuel delivery.
The modified boosters have a special machined radius in the
center and the outside is machined for uniformity and better
air flow. This machining is not allowed in some classes and is
not performed on the “legal boosters”.

These Hi-Flow base plates are legal to be used on
NASCAR 390-750-830 carburetors but can be used in any
type racing. They feature special radius throttle shafts and
profiled throttle plates. They will outflow a typical modified
base plate with thin shafts by 30 plus CFM. For the carburetor builder who wants the maximum air flow.

BLP 4150 SECONDARY LINKAGE KIT
BLP offers a new and improved secondary throttle
linkage kit for all Holley® HP 4150 series carburetors. This
kit allows you to select a 1 to 1 or progressive ratio to operate the secondary throttle and infinite adjustment can be
achieved to adjust wide open throttle. The kit is all stainless
steel and includes several different thickness washers
so the installer can select the proper thickness washer
to achieve the best alignment between the primary and
secondary throttle shaft.
The overall size has been reduced so now the installer
has the option of installing the link behind the primary and
secondary throttle arms. This gives more clearance for the
throttle actuating rod that comes from the firewall.

Billet Base Plate Spacers
BLP offers a unique .700” thick 4 hole spacer that
spaces the main body away from the throttle shafts. Better
throttle response and gains of up to 4ft lbs of torque have
been found using this spacer. It is designed to work with the
BLP Billet base plate or stock Holley® base plate. Purchase
individually or in kit form. Available black gray or purple.

This is an all-new metering block with a built in bowl
extension. It can be used in both drag and circle track
applications. The metering block is 1.200” thick and

The BLP double window housings are
machined from high quality brass on a Swiss
CNC lathe maintaining to a very close tolerance. The seats
have a special radius to produce a higher flow and a burnished finish to insure good sealing qualities. The feed holes
are all reamed to size. The BLP Viton needle has shorter
body to allow .060” more float drop than the standard Holley®.
A Viton® o-ring is used to insure a good seal when using
leaded and unleaded racing fuels. Each individual needle and
seat assembly is pressure tested for leaks.

Years ago BLP developed a special
shape hi flow Titanium needle. The shape
of the nose allows the highest flow through
a standard double window needle and seat housing. It
has become a standard to be used with Methanol engines
and high horsepower race gas engines. It has also been
widely copied by other manufacturers but better results are
achieved when using the complete original BLP assembly.

Currently the fuel from the fuel pump
enters into the fuel bowl through a window
at the top of the needle and seat housing and exits into the float bowl through a
second window after the needle opens. This exits the fuel
above the fuel level causing fuel aeration in the float bowl.
BLP has designed a bottom feed needle and seat that
exits the fuel below the float level and drastically reduces
aeration in the float bowl. This is achieved by a special
designed Viton® needle that is shaped to allow the fuel to
pass around the needle and exit through the bottom of the
needle and seat housing.
NOTE: The bottom feed needles and seats cannot be used
with a brass float.

HOLLEY® CIRCLE TRACK Floats
Holley’s® new wedged floats, made from Nitrophyl®,
feature a new reinforced float bracket assembly that
allows more fuel to flow thru the bracket especially when
using a bottom feed needle and seat. Holley® wedged
floats weigh in at approximately 12.8 to 13.2 grams and
are available as a primary float or a secondary float with
notches for jet extensions.

Extended Fuel Inlet Fittings

make the teflon bowl and metering block gaskets. These

One of the leading causes of base plates cracking is
the use of improper carburetor to manifold gaskets. Most
gaskets are too thick (.062”) and the materials are too soft.
They become “spongy” from absorbing the fuel being used.
This quality material along with a reduced thickness to
.047” greatly reduces the risk of cracking base plates.

Some substitution is available and we can design

The kits are available to the professional carburetor

BLP MAIN JETS - EMULSION JETS
- AIR CORRECTORS
The modern day race engine has become very
efficient. We are seeing 2 horsepower per cubic inch in
normally aspirated single 4-barrel engines, which was
unthinkable 10 years ago. The fuel curve in these engines has to be as close to perfect as possible. In order to
achieve that, one of the items needed are carburetor main
jets that have consistent and accurate flow.
At BLP Products we offer the best main jet available
for the Holley® carburetor. This design has 4 years of
development and testing. The BLP main jet has been very
well accepted and is widely used in the field. Some of the
features are:
• Stamped size is the actual hole size of the jet
• All jets are reamed to size and pin gauged
• Hex head for easy removal
• Special radius entry and exit design
• Available in blanks with a pilot hole
• Available in 3 thread sizes
• Jets are randomly flow tested and can be
purchased 100% flow tested
BLP “R” SERIES MAIN JETS
The BLP “R” series jets have
the standard Holley® thread size
of 1/4 x 32 that is commonly used
in all gas carburetors and some
alcohol carburetors. These jets
are available in a standard length and an extended length
for drag racing. The jets are available from .055 to .173 in
.001 increments. Please add required size after prefix, i.e.

JETS: EMULSION – AIR – FUEL
BLP emulsion jets are machined from 3/16 long
brass set screws. For easy installation they have a
female hex socket and can be installed with an allen
wrench. They are available in 4 thread sizes. All part
numbers are pin gauged.

BLP screw in air correctors feature a screwdriver slot
and a special radius on the top of the air corrector. This
radius smooths out the incoming air that passes over air
correctors. This feature gives you better response when
you change the main air corrector size. The thread size is
10/32 and they can also be used for fuel and oil jets. All jets
are pin gauged.

Genuine Holley® main jets are listed by a stamped number with a corresponding drill size number. The size listed is
for reference only and actual control of size is by flow check.

The carburetor jets are flow tested on a Waterman-BLP Flow
Tester. We feel the carburetor main jet recognizes from 0.50 - PSI
to maybe as much as 0.90 PSI pressure, slightly under one pound.
For this reason we choose to flow the jets at 2 PSI of pressure.
