During the holidays, we ask our students to help children less fortunate than them by participating in this worthwhile cause. The trip is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9th. In addition to our Toys-R-Us trip, we have many events planned for this Holiday Season which includes: our Fourth Grade is hosting a Senior Citizen Event on December 11 th, Frosty’s Workshop on December 12th, and the Winter Concert on December 17th, (please note this is a date change). I am very happy to report that since the beginning of the school year, our 6-8th grade Language Arts classes have been piloting the use of Chromebooks. This technology is allowing students and teachers to share documents with one another and allowing quicker feedback on our writing assignments. Our students are catching on quickly and are very excited to be using the Chromebooks on a daily basis. Happy Holidays!! Sincerely, John Capuano Principal Page 2 PTO NEWS: Congratulations to the raffle winners! The total amount collected was $4800. The "Cougar Share" program began in 2003 and has raised over $45,000 to date. The Peer leaders pair up with their younger classmates and pick gifts for a particular child from their holiday wish list. We sponsor approximately 50 children a year and donations are provided by East Amwell School students and their families. In previous years gifts have been distributed to children in foster care. More recently we have partnered with the Children's Home Society of NJ. The "Cougar Share" program is overseen by staff members Janet Higgins and Lauren Myers, and the Peer Leaders are supervised by teachers Laurie Daniel and Kim Kulis. All of the staff involved set an example for our students and truly exemplify the spirit of the season. At this time the Board of Education would like to extend our best wishes to all of the East Amwell community for a joyous holiday season and health and happiness in the New Year. 6th Grade Egyptian Projects The 6th grade has been diligently working on their Egyptian Projects. They will be on display for all to see the night of the Winter Concert. Please take a moment to view our student's great work! A Chromebook is a personal computer that runs Chrome (Google) as an operating system. The device is made to connect quickly to the Internet and supports apps that are on the web, not ones that are downloaded to the device. Publishing, productivity, communication and collaboration are key elements to student success in the classroom using Chrome Books. Students can use a variety of websites for Digital Storytelling. Students can access their work anytime and anywhere using productivity tools on the web. Using Chromebooks, students can communicate using 21s century tools like Gmail and Video Conferencing. The Chromebooks also allows students to collaborate face to face or on the computer while working on projects.
