The special gala performance will both commemorate
the past, with highlights from the theater’s inaugural
performance in 1964, and herald the future with a
world premiere ballet. Included will be an excerpt
from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved
score for Carousel in honor of Richard Rodgers'
Musical Theater of Lincoln Center which was one
of the theater’s original resident companies. The
evening will also include a short film retrospective
showcasing highlights from our first 50 years at
Lincoln Center, as well as a special onstage tribute
to some of NYCB’s former principal dancers, all of
whom were members of the Company during the
theater’s inaugural season in 1964.
