FREE Wi-Fi Rolls Out Center-Wide
Upland Town Square shoppers will soon have access to free wireless internet
throughout the center. While several Upland stores have long provided FREE
WiFi for their customers, internet service range was limited. Soon shoppers
will be able to stroll from one end of the center to the other while staying
connected to the Web.
“Basically, we’re casting a huge net around the shopping center, making
Upland Town Square one great big hotspot,” said Danielle Bovard, Marketing
Director. What’s more, shoppers will only have to register to use the WiFi
service one time. Their mobile devices will automatically connect to Upland
Town Square’s internet service on return visits. No passwords or pesky login
menus necessary.
WiFi users can anticipate getting special offers delivered to their cell phones
each time they visit Upland Town Square.
“Maybe it’ll be a free meal from Denny’s one day and a 20 percent discount
from Cherry on Top Yogurt the next,” said Bovard. “Each time it will be
something different, adding a little excitement to their shopping experience.”
“Our goal is to improve the shopping experience for our customers.”

Today, you know it as Foothill Boulevard, a major
commercial artery through San Bernardino County.
But long before it became a stretch through suburbia,
Foothill Boulevard was a sparsely populated road
dotted with motels, fruit stands and fueling stations,
occupying a segment of the iconic Route 66.
NewMark Merrill Companies is pleased to
announce that Waba Grill is now open at
Upland Town Square, on Foothill Avenue in
Upland. Waba Grill signed a 10-year lease for
the approximately 2,008 square foot space near
O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. Darren Bovard, Director of
Leasing for NewMark Merrill Companies led
negotiations for the 10-year lease with Bob Brady
with Voit Real Estate Services.
There are currently 52 Waba Grill restaurants open
in Southern California and Virginia to feature
teriyaki style foods prepared with natural
ingredients, and no artificial additives like MSG.
No oil is ever used for cooking, and nothing is fried.
The new restaurant will offer freshly-prepared menu
items for on-premise dining, take-out as well as a
catering service.

is excited to open the restaurant because Upland
Town Square is a popular shopping and dining
destination. Upland Town Square’s Waba Grill
will be Raygoza’s third franchise location and the
first in Upland.

Think of the Route 66 of the ’50s and ’60s and the
mind conjurers up images of large neon signs
beckoning road-weary motorists to pull over for fuel,
food or a night’s rest. One of the most iconic of those
signs, and most tempting, belonged to Winchell’s
Donuts at 887 West Foothill Blvd., now Cherry on
Top frozen yogurt at Upland Town Square.
Erected in the ’60s, the yellow triangle stood 17 feet
tall as a symbol for sugary breakfast foods. It was
said to be the pastry chain’s oldest sign. Though the
doughnut hut closed in 2004, the sign is being preserved. Considered a piece of classic
Americana, it now belongs to the Museum of Neon Art. Unfortunately, the sign will be too big
to display in the museum’s new Glendale location. Executive director Kim Koga said she’s
trying to find a new home for it. Any takers?
