This year, In June , we will launch the very first Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 MontTremblant Triathlon Festival. The IRONMAN magic will be shared with a great
gathering of triathletes with the addition of the IRONMAN 5150 Sprint and
Olympic distances to the weekend festivities on Saturday June 20.
Find out about Official Swim Services
Besides offering access to the official IRONMAN swim, run and bike courses
for training, Mont-Tremblant region is following up in its objective of
becoming an international triathlon training destination with the inauguration
of its very first aquatic centre, for which the IRONMAN Foundation is proud to
have invested
$250 000.
Over and above the accessibility to the pool, Ville de Mont-Tremblant will
reserve 2 training lanes at all times for IRONMAN athletes. This complex will
offer a 25-meter pool with 8 swim lanes, a family basin with water games
and a multifunctional training room. Biking equipment offering IRONMAN
virtual imagery will give you access to a unique experience, even when the
thermometer dips below -35 degrees Celsius outside.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank our partners for their commitment
and passion, especially the governments of Quebec and Canada, Ville de
Mont-Tremblant, Station Mont-Tremblant, Tourisme Mont-Tremblant,
Chambre de Commerce du Grand Mont-Tremblant and our main sponsor,
Subaru Canada. Thank you!
This year, over 5000 volunteers from all over will share the dream, and above
all, their “Joie de Vivre” that will carry you to the finish line. To all those young
and not so young volunteers, I would like to send the warmest thank you!
We wish you all an unforgettable stay at the heart of our Mont-Tremblant
community and a day you shall cherish forever as you reach for the
IRONMAN finish line in Mont-Tremblant.

MESSAGE
FROM THE HEAD REFEREE
2015 Triathlon Canada (TC) Competitive Rules apply except as indicated in the Athlete
Guide. IRONMAN will operate under the “three strikes and you’re out” principle. Even
though DRAFTING and LITTERING are the only two violations to incur a time penalty
(to be served in the closest penalty tent, located along the bike course), every type of
violation counts toward your three strikes, and every bike course violation requires a stop
in a penalty tent. Any penalties incurred on the run course are to be served at the point of
infraction. Any combination of three Violations results in a DSQ.
So that you understand the rules on race day, please take the time to read and
understand all rules and regilations in the Athlete Guide and the 2015 TC Competitive
Rules.
The POSITION violations are summarized below:
• Always ride on the right side of your lane to avoid an ILLEGAL POSITION or BLOCKING
penalty
• Keep five bike lengths of clear space between your bike’s front wheel and the rear
wheel of the cyclist in front of you to avoid a DRAFTING call
• Always pass on the left of the cyclist in front of you; Never on the right to avoid an
ILLEGAL PASS . Complete your pass within 20 seconds to avoid a DRAFTING penalty
• Passed athletes must be seen making immediate and constant rear progress out of
the drafting zone to avoid a DRAFTING call
Yan Therrien
IRONMAN HEAD OFFICIAL
Triathlon is an individual event, and it is your responsibility to fully understand the rules
and avoid penalties. The referee’s ruling is final in the case of POSITION violations, and
there are no protests or appeals. Other common violations include:
DRAFTING VIOLATION
BLUE CARD

served in a penalty tent on
the bike course
!
HELMET CHINSTRAP
Your chinstrap must be securely fastened whenever you are on your bike on race day.
LITTERING VIOLATION
!
RACE NUMBER
You must wear your bib number during the run portion of the race. In addition, your bike
frame sticker must be properly attached to your bike frame and must be visible from
both sides.
!
LITTERING
Do not throw ANYTHING outside of official aid stations. Littering will result in a five
minute time penalty.
!
stop and go time penalty
served at the next penalty
tent
UNAUTHORIZED EQUIPMENT
Sorry, absolutely NO communication devices, MP3 players or other audio devices. (Yes,
that means NO cell phones).
!
OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE
Non-racers may NOT ride or run alongside you.
DISQUALIFICATION (DSQ)
!
TIME PENALTIES
Remember that even though DRAFTING and LITTERING are the only violations that
incur a five minute time penalty, you must go to a penalty tent for any violation to have
your number marked, and all violations count toward your three strikes. There will be
no penalty tents on the run. If you are penalized on the run, the official will mark your
number on the spot.
BLUE CARD
five minute time penalty
served in a penalty tent on
the bike course
BLOCKING VIOLATION
YELLOW CARD
RED CARD
Any combination of three
violations will result in race
disqualification.
Please treat other athletes, all volunteers, and your referees with courtesy and
consideration. Not doing so is UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT and may result in
disqualification.
I sincerely hope you have a great race and achieve all your goals.

INFORMATION
The scheduling of Athlete Check-In is designed to allow each athlete
the opportunity to become oriented with the venue, acclimated to
the area and receive all the necessary information needed to have a
successful race.
The Mandatory Athlete Briefing will be held on Friday at 7:10 p.m. at the
Banque Tent and is hosted for the benefit of all athletes. The briefing
will cover important information pertaining to any peculiarities of the
course, rules and cut-off times for the disciplines and most importantly
any last minute changes or procedures to the event that have occurred,
or may potentially occur due to weather related forecasts.
It is equally important for athletes to have ample time to check-in their
bike and other gear and to make sure all bases are covered leading up
to race day. Rushing to complete all necessary tasks within a couple
of hours is counterproductive to race preparation. It also creates
additional pressure on event staff who work under a tight deadline to
execute an IRONMAN event.
Competing in an IRONMAN event is a significant endeavor and
requires proper planning for your safety and the safety of your fellow
competitors, the volunteers, event staff and the hosting community.
Thank you for your cooperation. We want to ensure the very best
experience for you, not only on race day, but throughout the weekend’s
activities.
WELCOMING DINNER
Each athlete has a complimentary entry, with the show of the wrist
band, to the carbo dinner. It is being held on Friday August 14 at 5
p.m. Guests’ tickets are available and in limited quantities. They will
be for sale on the event’s website, at the information booth and at
the venue for $30 per ticket (special pricing for children). It is first
come first serve.
Mandatory Athlete Briefing
Athletes are required to attend the Mandatory Athlete Briefing offered
on Friday at 7:10 p.m. at the Banquet Tent.
ATHLETE WRISTBAND
A wristband printed with your race number will be affixed to your
wrist at Athlete Check-In. This band will identify you as an official
participant and must be worn throughout the weekend of the event.
The wristband is required for medical identification purposes and
allows you access to both transition areas and post-race athlete
recovery area.
You will not be allowed to remove your bike and/or gear from
transition after the race without your wristband affixed to your wrist
(see bike check-out details). You must be wearing your wristband if
you plan to claim a slot for the 2015 IRONMAN World Championship
presented by GoPro.
PLEASE NOTE: Athlete must wear all official race participant items
issued at Athlete Check-In. Items include; the official swim cap, wristband, bike stickers, race bib number, and timing chip. Failure to do so or
wear outside items will result in a DSQ.

COMPETITOR RESPONSIBILITIES
When you pick up your race packet and Timing Chip at Athlete
Check-In, stop by the chip verification table to ensure that your correct
name shows up on the computer screen.
You must wear your Timing Chip at all times while you are racing. Prior
to the swim, fasten the chip to your ankle with the strap provided and
do not remove it until you have finished the run.
You may apply Vaseline around your ankle; it will not affect the Timing
Chip. Volunteers will help you remove the chip at the finish line.
If you do not start the race, you are responsible for returning the chip
to Sportstats - Timing.
If you drop out or are pulled from the race at any time, turn in your
chip to a race official. Failure to do so may disqualify you from
participating in future WTC events. It is essential that we know where
you are on the course at all times for your safety and our peace of
mind. If you are transported to any medical station, the medical staff
will take responsibility for your chip.
Your race chip is a loaner. By picking up your race number and Timing
Chip, you are guaranteeing that you will return the chip to timing, or
you will be billed for its replacement.

2014 IRONMAN 5150 Mont-Tremblant Triathlon, outline of swim course
B
Ch
Athletes will start the 3.8 km swim on the golden sands
of the Beach & Tennis club, right beside the Tremblant
pedestrian village. From there, you will enjoy the view
of the sheltering mountains around this lovely, pristine
lake. Lac Tremblant is a clean freshwater lake, with
relatively calm waters at this time of the year; the
average water temperature on race day should be a
comfortable 65F/18C. The swim ends at the beach park
(Parc Plage), 300 meters from the transition point, at a
small beach near the Quintessence, the region’s most
luxurious hotel.
SWIM TO BIKE TRANSITION
After the swim, you will be directed through the timing
chutes to the swim to bike transition. Public nudity is not
permitted. You can change in a tent (2 tents, one for women,
one for men) When you get out, you can ask volunteers for
sunscreen.
You can only get on your bike at the bike course starting line.
It is located OUTSIDE the transition zone.
When you return from the bike course, you must get off your
bike before reaching the finish line to enter the transition
zone.
NOTE: Any athlete electing not to race must notify a timing
official immediately. Above all, the safety of each swimmer
is our prime concern. A full sweep of the course will be made
directly behind the last swimmer. Visual aid will be provided
by the lifeguards, divers, canoes, kayaks, buoys, and aquatic
crafts that line the course

IRONMAN
SWIMSMART
Top 10 Checklist
An open-water swim in a triathlon is substantially different from swimming in a pool.
To alleviate stress, it’s important that you arrive on race day healthy, fit and prepared.
Here's a top-10 checklist to help get you ready.
1. Prepare for Race Conditions
• Race day should not be your first open water swim. Make sure
some of your training replicates real race conditions, including
water temperature, proximity to other swimmers and wearing a
wetsuit if needed.
6. Don’t Use New Gear on Race Day
2. Race in Shorter Events
• Focus on controlling as much as you can on race day.
• You should never race in equipment you haven’t trained in. This is
not the time to test new gear.
• Make sure your wetsuit fits properly and that your goggles, swim
cap and other accessories work properly.
• Prepare for the unexpected with backups of all your gear.
3. Learn About Course Details
• Arrive early enough on race day for a proper warm-up prior to the
start, preferably in the water.
• If you aren’t able to warm up in the water, spend between 5 and
10 minutes getting loose.
• Be sure to do some cardio activity, such as a light jog, to increase
circulation and prep your muscles.
• Being properly trained is the best way to reduce anxiety. If
possible,
race in shorter events and clinics to prepare yourself for open
water conditions.
• For extra guidance, talk to a coach or your local triathlon club.
• It’s important to prepare yourself mentally as well as physically
prior to race day. Thoroughly review the race website and pre-race
communication to familiarize yourself with the course.
• Keep in mind, every body of water is different, so you’ll need to
educate yourself on water current and surf conditions.
• Study the event timetable to plan for proper arrival and
preparation.
4. Ensure Heart Health
• As an athlete in training, you should take the proper steps to
assess your health with your physician.
• The American Heart Association suggests a 12-step screening
process for competitive athletes. This includes a physical exam
as well as an assessment of your family history and personal heart
health.
5. Pay Attention to Warning Signs
• If you experience chest pain or discomfort, shortness of breath,
light-headedness or blacking out while training, consult your
doctor.

7. Warm Up on Race Day
8. Check Out the Course
• Get comfortable with the course by checking out water conditions,
the swim entry, exit layouts, along with turn buoy locations.
• Identify basic navigation points so that you know what you are
swimming towards.
9. Start Easy – Relax and Breathe
• Don’t race at maximum effort from the start.
• Relax and focus on proper breathing technique as you settle into a
sustainable pace.
10. Be Alert and Ask for Help
• In a race setting always stop at the first sign of a medical problem.
• If you or a fellow athlete needs help, just raise your hand to alert a
lifeguard or safety boat.
• Race rules allow for competitors to stop or rest at any time during
the swim.
• Feel free to hold on to a static object like a raft, buoy, or dock.
• You may also rest by holding on to a kayak, boat or even a
paddleboard. As long as you don’t use it to move forward, you won’t
face disqualification.

the opportunity to settle any payment Monday morning at the OKÉ
Triathlon kiosk in the IRONMAN Village. The team of specialists at OKÉ
Triathlon will also be present to help with proper wetsuit donning and
fitting prior to race start.
TECH TIPS AND OTHER DETAILS
Water conditions may vary prior to race day. We advise athletes to go
out for a test swim the days prior to the event. If you are using a new
or unfamiliar wetsuit, this is especially important to test the gear, the
water, the course layout and to test for any wetsuit chaffing.
If you want to feel safer when doing your practice swim, OKÉ Triathlon
will have a limited number of swim buoys to use for training. You
can pick-up a buoy at their Technical Services kiosk located near the
Transition Zone. To accommodate more athletes, reservation for these
buoys will be offered on an hourly basis.

Bike Course
SUMMARY
BIKE 180 K
The 180-km scenic two-loop bike course
will take you through a beautiful natural
landscape punctuated by two rivers: the
Diable and Rouge. Montée Ryan is rather
hilly with some ups and downs at 5% or
6%. When you get to Route 117, you will
face a change in elevation and reach the
steepest slope of the course where you
will catch speeds of about 80 km/h on
about 165 meters. The rest of the 117 is
relatively flat, but if the wind picks up, it
could become your worst enemy! On the
way back, you will face the longest climb
of the course on Route 117; the same
slope at La Conception that got you to 80
km/h… After a couple of kilometres in the
downtown section of Mont-Tremblant,
you will be led back to Montée Ryan and
then be directed toward the Municipality of
Lac-Supérieur via Chemin Duplessis. This
road runs along the river La Diable where
the most challenging elevation change of
the course will take you from 225 meters to
340 meters with a maximum slope of 8%.

Please remember that members of the local
community use sections of the bike course
roads.
When you are training on the course, realize
that you are an ambassador for the sport and
the event and the impact of your actions is
far reaching.
When you’re out riding the course, please
adhere to local traffic laws and go the extra
mile to be courteous and respectful to the
resident of the local community.
Every time a cyclist has an altercation with
a driver, that driver sees every cyclist on the
road as the enemy.
Every time a cyclist is courteous to a driver,
that driver will give every cyclist on the road
that much more respect and courtesy in
return.
When training, please follow these
suggestions:
• Please ride single file with a maximum of
15 riders and never ride side by side. This is
not just for your safety but also to ensure
local drivers can get where they need to go
without delay and frustration.
• Always run on sidewalks or on the
multifunctional trail and never on the road.
• Please obey traffic laws (stop at stop signs,
signal when turning, etc.).
• Please do not use private property as a
toilet. There are plenty of local stores along
the way with public bathrooms – please use
them!
• Please do not litter. Keep your energy bar
and gel wrappers with you until you find a
trash can.
• Please ask your friends and family
members to refrain from painting the roads
along the course. This defaces public property
and is a punishable offense.
• Please wear a helmet during all official
activities when you are riding your bike. This
includes, competition, course familiarization
and training sessions

QUALIFYING
For The 2015 IRONMAN World Championship
presenTED BY GOPRO
PLEASE NOTE THE SLOT ALLOCATION/ROLLDOWN POLICY
There will be 50 qualifying Age Group slots to the 2015 IRONMAN
World Championship presented by GoPro (October 10, 2015) on offer
at the 2015 Subaru IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant.
Note: Slot Allocation and Rolldown will be completed together in the
same ceremony for all IRONMAN events. The calculation to determine
the number of slots per age-group has not changed, we simply combined Rolldown and Slot Allocation into one ceremony.
SLOT ALLOCATION ROLLDOWN POLICY
Athletes MUST claim their slot in-person during the IRONMAN World
Championship presented by GoPro Slot Allocation and Rolldown
Ceremony on Monday, August 17, immediately following the Awards
Ceremony (noon to 2 p.m. ). We recommend being at least 15
minutes early. Be prepared to pay the $850.00 USD entry fee with
credit card ONLY. We will NOT accept cash or check as a valid form of
payment.
ANTI-DOPING POLICY
In accordance with the World Triathlon Corporation Anti-Doping
Policy, all athletes accepting qualifying slots for the 2015 IRONMAN
World Championship presented by GoPro and 2015 IRONMAN World
Championship 70.3 will be required to sign, as a condition of entry,
a Release and Indemnification waiver, by which they agree to be
placed into the IRONMAN Registered Testing Pool for both in and out
of competition testing, and voluntarily consent to be governed by the
published rule
http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/organizations/anti-doping.
aspx#axzz3BPHKA0NL
Prior to race day, at least one slot shall be tentatively allocated
to each Age Group category (both male and female). Final Slot
Allocation will be determined on race day based on the number of
official starters in each Age Group.
If there are no starters in a particular Age Group, then that slot will
be moved to the next calculated Age Group within the gender. Final
Slot Allocation shall be representative of the actual number of Age
Group starters in each category in the race.
Slot Allocation and Rolldown will be completed together in the same
ceremony for all IRONMAN events. Please check the schedule
of events for time and location. Anyone who wishes to claim a
Rolldown slot must attend the IRONMAN World Championship
presented by GoPro Slot Allocation and Rolldown Ceremony and
claim their slot in person. If an automatic qualifier in an Age Group
chooses not to take the slot, does not attend the IRONMAN World
Championship presented by GoPro Slot Allocation and Rolldown
Ceremony, or has already qualified, the next eligible finisher in that
Age Group may claim the slot that has rolled down.
If there are no more eligible finishers in a particular Age Group or no
other finishers in attendance at the IRONMAN World Championship
presented by GoPro Slot Allocation and Rolldown Ceremony in that
Age Group, that unclaimed slot will be reallocated to another Age
Group within the gender based on the athletes-to-slots ratio. The
Age Group within the gender with the largest athletes-to-slots ratio
will receive the first reallocated slot, followed by the next largest
ratio receiving the second re-allocated slot (if applicable), and so on.

MESSAGE from IRONMAN ALL WORLD ATHLETE
The IRONMAN All World Athlete program is our way of rewarding age-group athletes’ hard work, dedication, and performance across IRONMAN and
IRONMAN 70.3 racing.
The program uses the IRONMAN Age Group Ranking system to determine which athletes have finished within the top 10 percent or better in their age
group each calendar year. This system allows athletes to generate points based on their finish time behind the first official finisher in their age group.
Athletes accumulate points for each race they complete. On December 31st, only the top three performances will count toward an athletes’ All World
Athlete status. This makes it easy for athletes to improve their ranking by simply racing more with IRONMAN.
An athlete can achieve All World Athlete status in one or all of the following categories:
IRONMAN, IRONMAN 70.3 and OVERALL (IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 combined).
There are three levels associated with the All World Athlete program:
GOLD (top one percent)
SILVER (top five percent)
BRONZE (top ten percent)
For questions regarding the ALL World Athlete Program, please contact: [email protected]
Benefits for this race:
* Priorty Access to Athlete registration
* All World Athlete logo on bibs
* All World Athlete Swim caps
* Priority bike check in for Gold and Silver All World Athletes (specific details in All World Athlete email)

how it works
Clubs are divided into club divisions based on the size of the club. This makes it fun for TriClubs to compete against other TriClubs in their division.
For races in North America, clubs compete against each other at IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events. Athletes who are registered with a club earn
points based on IRONMAN’s Age Group Ranking system. These points are added together and are used to determine the Division Champion at the
event.
For the Cross-Canada overall competition any clubs that meet the qualifying criteria will be automatically entered into the championship point
calculation. Any points earned at any races, including those earned outside of the Canadian series will count towards determining the top pointgetting clubs. Points will be frozen on December 31, 2015 and the winners of the competition will be announced in early January 2016.
Divisions
Division I - Clubs with greater than 300 active members and National Coaching programs
Division II - Clubs with 176-299 active members
Division III - Clubs with 76-175 active members
Division IV - Clubs with 26-75 active members
Division V - Clubs under 25 active members
