What: First Party

Tips for Your Debut Party
1. Take time to complete your Circles of Influence on pages 17-18 of this book.

3. Ask a friend to do the duties of the Host at your Gold Canyon Debut Party. She will greet the guests, serve
refreshments, etc. This gives you the freedom to be the Fragrance Consultant.
4. Keep your display simple to encourage guests to join Gold Canyon.
5. Keep refreshments simple to encourage guests to schedule a home Party.
The best advice for your Gold Canyon Debut Party is to relax and have fun. Your friends and family are excited for you.
They want you to succeed and want to help you succeed.
Inviting Your Guests to Your Gold Canyon Debut Party
Call everyone on your Circles of Influence list individually. Be excited and show your enthusiasm. A suggested dialogue
might be:
“Mary, I wanted to share my good news with you! Do you like candles, home décor and body products? I have joined
Gold Canyon and we have amazing products. I will be having my Gold Canyon Debut Party at my house on (date and
time). I would be very happy if you could attend. Can I count on you?”
For anyone who declines the invitation, encourage them to schedule their own home Party:
“Mary, we will miss you at my Party; however, you can still enjoy the fun and benefits of Gold Canyon by scheduling your
own home Party. It would really help me with my new business. I have next Thursday or this Monday available. Which
works better for you?”
If she cannot schedule a home Party:
“Mary, I really value your opinion and would love to share what I am so excited about. When can I drop a catalog by
your home?”

Host Coaching
What: Sharing information with your Host to ensure a successful home Party.
When:
1. As soon as the Party is scheduled
2. Two weeks before the Party
3. Two days before the Party
4. At the Party before guests arrive
Where: Speak with the Host in person or on the phone.
Why: To increase attendance; Attendance will determine the sales of the Party.
Host coaching is one of the most important aspects of your position as a Gold Canyon Fragrance Consultant. Host coaching
gives you the opportunity to build a relationship and trust with the Host. Why is this important? You want the Host to be
your business partner in this venture. You want her to put forth effort to make the Party as successful as possible. It is just
as easy to have a $600 Party as it is a $300 Party. The bigger the Party, the happier the Host. Happy Hosts are repeat
Hosts. Happy Hosts are future Consultants!
Steps for Host Coaching
When the home Party is booked:
1. Secure the earliest date and time you have available.
2. Share a Party Planning Guide and five Customer Order forms. It is also suggested you include a copy of the current
monthly Host and customer promotional flyer and two current catalogs.
3. Explain Host Rewards, Host promotions and customer promotions.
4. H
ave her complete her “Wish List” found in Party Planning Guide. Set a Party goal based on the amount of free product
on her wish list. Encourage a minimum goal of $500.
5. H
elp the Host start her guest list. Suggest she invite people from different circles. For example, friends, family, neighbors,
business associates, people who work with her spouse and so on. Coach her to invite a minimum of 40 people, understanding that a third to a half usually attends.
6. Immediately send a “Save the Date” e-mail invitation.
7. Ask that she speak with everyone personally. A personal invitation makes people feel special and is an effective way
to increase attendance.
8. Ask her to take orders and ask for bookings before the Party from guests who are unable to attend.
Two weeks before the Party:
1. Ask how many guests have agreed to attend.
2. Encourage her to invite more people and suggest they bring a friend.
3. Recommend she serve simple refreshments.
4. Mail reminder post cards to those agreeing to attend.
Two days before the Party:
1. Request directions to her home.
2. Ask her to give a reminder call to everyone and encourage them to bring a friend.
At the Party before guests arrive:
1. Ask who she thinks will be interested in becoming a Gold Canyon Consultant or want to schedule a Party.
2. Suggest she observe you during the Party and consider becoming a Gold Canyon Consultant.

When: After achieving 2,700 in Personal Volume within a 12-month period and successfully completing the Gold
Canyon Certification Quiz (found at Essentials OnLine) to verify you understand the details of the program
Who: Any organization needing to raise money. For example, schools, church groups, sports teams, bands, scouts,
cheerleaders and more.
How: At Parties:

Share that Gold Canyon offers a fantastic Fundraising Program.

Ask guests about the organizations to which they and their friends or family belong.

Benefits to You

The base commission is paid out immediately from the proceeds
of the fundraiser order. The total is based on the commissionable
selling price and is paid out as follows:

Purpose: Give customers the opportunity to join Gold Canyon and/or schedule a Party
When: As guests are finalizing their orders

Customer service and follow-up is a big part of any business. Your customer service begins when you take an order.
There are three things you will offer every customer:

Why offer these three things? Because they are great deals and we all like a deal!
How: Customer Promotions and Bonuses
When completing a customer’s order, remind her about the monthly customer promotions if she has not taken advantage
of them. Have a copy of the monthly promotional flyer with you so she can consider them.
Host Opportunity
If possible, think of something she may have said during the Party that would give you the impression she would be
interested in scheduling her own Party. Be sure to call her by name.
“Joan, I remember you said you were redecorating your home. How would you like to earn free beautiful home décor and
candles to use?”
“Terry, I see from your order that you love the EMERGE® body line. By scheduling your own Party, you could receive your
additional EMERGE products free and half price.”
“Darlene, you seem so excited about Gold Canyon products. I would love to come to your home and share Gold Canyon

Fragrance Consultant Opportunity
You will find it may be challenging to share the Consultant opportunity with everyone while at the Party; however, it is very
important to give every person the chance to decide if the Consultant opportunity is right for them.
Customers Who Show an Interest in Gold Canyon
You will be able to pick out people who are obvious candidates and talk with them at the Party, give them the Sponsoring
Packet* and schedule a time within 24-36 hours for follow-up.

Others may give you their order forms on the way to the kitchen for refreshments and socializing. When you are giving
them their receipts, fold it in half and put the receipt inside the current catalog. Be sure to have your contact information
on the catalog.

place an individual order by just giving me a call or through my website. Also, the opportunities Gold Canyon has to
offer are in the last pages of the catalog, including the Fragrance Consultant opportunity. I will call in a couple of days
to answer questions.”
“Cathy, I know you’re going to enjoy your EMERGE products. You seem to really like the candles and the body line. I
would love to share Gold Canyon with you. Here is your receipt and a catalog that will answer most of your questions.

Follow-up after the Party:
With Customers
Follow-up is only effective if you call when you say you will. If you are having two Parties each week with ten people at
each Party, you will follow up with twenty people. Make four calls Monday through Friday and you have completed your
customer service follow-up.
“Hi, Darlene! This is Peggy, your Gold Canyon Fragrance Consultant. We met at Nancy’s Party Tuesday. I wanted to follow
up with you, as I promised, to talk about the Gold Canyon opportunities and how they might fit into your life. Have you
had a chance to look at the Consultant and Host opportunities in the catalog? (They may have not read the information.
That’s okay. Suggest you look at it together.)
With Customers that have a Sponsoring Packet
Fragrance Consultant:
“Hi, Sara! This is Peggy, with Gold Canyon. I wanted to follow up with you, as I promised. Last night you were really
excited about Gold Canyon. Let me ask you a few questions. (Ask questions to determine what Gold Canyon can do for
her.) What exactly are you looking for? (Pause and listen.) Is it extra income, opportunity to work from home or to quit
your full-time job?” (Pause and listen. Give her the opportunity to tell you what she wants. Then you can share what Gold
Canyon can offer her.)
Customer:
“Peggy, I really would like to add extra money to our family budget so I can quit my full-time job.” -or“Peggy, I really would like to be in business for myself.”
Fragrance Consultant:
“That’s great, Sara! Gold Canyon can certainly help you with that. (Gold Canyon can help her with any goal.) How
much money a month would it take to make your dreams a reality? (Pause.) Let me show you how you can do that.” -or“That’s great, Sara! Gold Canyon can certainly help you with that. (Gold Canyon can help her with any goal.) I have

You will also want to follow up with customers who weren’t able to attend; however, they placed an order. They
are HOT leads. Thank them for their order and offer them the same three opportunities you offered other guests.
“Linda, this is Kristin, your Gold Canyon Fragrance Consultant. Thank you for placing an order at Kathy’s Party. I also
wanted to be sure you know you qualified for the customer promotion … or … I wanted to tell you about the customer
promotion. With the purchase of $10, you would qualify for … Can I go ahead and order that for you?”
“Rachel, I know you missed the fun we had at the Party, but I would love to have a Party for you and your friends. Plus,
Kathy will receive another item for half price. I have next Friday and this Monday available. Which is better for you?”
“Maya, Gold Canyon has a wonderful Consultant opportunity for anyone wanting extra money, a new career, free travel
or just to get out of the house. Who do you know that …?” (When you ask “Who do you know …?”, the customer is more
relaxed and will usually ask questions about Gold Canyon or you will have the opportunity to ask her questions.)
With Hosts
The Party order will be shipped to the Host. After she receives the Party order, call to make sure she is happy with the
order. Customer service continues until every customer is happy.
