Legislative Advocate Allison Daley Olson joined the
CFRW team on September 1, 2009.
Allison is a graduate of the University of California, Davis
Campus, with a degree in Political Science. She and husband Rob live in Davis.
Allie was the Deputy Finance Director for the McClintock
for Congress campaign and previously interned with Wilson-Miller Communications in Sacramento, a position
that included tracking California legislation for clients of
that firm.
No stranger to Republican volunteer organizations, she
chaired the Davis College Republicans from June of 2006
until May of 2008. She was also a fellow with the Foundation for Defense of Democracies from April of 2007 to
May of 2008. During that time, Allison studied in Israel
and Washington, D. C., with counter-terror experts.

TEAM…we have had a remarkable three months so far
this year. 19 of us attended the CFRW Northern Division Spring Conference. Capital Corridor Region
hosted and our ladies were out in force at all opportunities to volunteer. We really acted as a TEAM…from
collating handouts, stuffing folders, labeling packages,
stapling tickets together, helping clear tables and resetting them to registering 146 attendees to the conference, we were there! I can’t thank you enough for your
efforts and our Dottie Linden was a remarkable Chairman for the event! For more, see the Conference Report in this newsletter.

I must say something about how proud I am of our Republican representatives in Washington since they
stuck together, following their constituents’ wishes and
not one of them voted for ObamaCare. I do care to differ on lack of bi-partisan efforts…there WAS a bipartisan effort - it was in OPPOSITION to this first
major step towards socialized medicine. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) was truly awesome!

VOTER REGISTRATION
Naturalization Ceremonies
Over 800 new American citizens were sworn in on February 17th, and Jenny Mitchell, Janet Gardner, Bev
Anderson, Bobby Lankford, Scott Raab, John Madriz and I registered 22 of them as Republicans. It is always
moving to see people that come from all over the world to this great country. These people have followed
the beckoning light emanating from the shining city on the hill to take part in its opportunity and promise.
They have done so legally, which is an arduous process, and we are honored to share in their celebration.
If you would like to join us, we need volunteers from 7:00 am or 8:30 am until noon. The next few ceremonies are April 21, May 19, and Jun 17.
Voter Registration
This past month we have had a table at Lowe's in Citrus Heights and the Tea Party Rally at the Capitol. We
garnered a few registrations at each. We will be at Lowe's on May 8 and September 4, from 9 am until
noon. I am checking with other retail locations and events, and will include those with all of our volunteer
opportunities.
Volunteer Opportunities
In Sacramento County we have processed almost 10,000 new Republican registrations! Due to the volume
of registrations, Headquarters has had to hire temporary help to process them. If you have some time to
offer to help, please do. We have been told that the hours are Noon to 6 pm. Please call ahead to confirm
that they will be open when you plan on volunteering.

Elections
The primary date this year is June 8th. Precinct captains are beginning their outreach to voters, and we need
more captains. There is an organizational meeting for precinct work on March 27th from 11 am – 2 pm at
Headquarters. The Registrar of Voters will begin mailing out “vote by mail” ballots on May 10th , so our assistance is vital to accomplish what needs to be done in the next 1 ½ – 2 ½ months.
If you have any questions or concerns to share, please contact me. I would also ask you to think of friends
and family who might want to get involved in some way with this election and encourage them. We would
love to welcome them to the party and help them find their place in this critical election.
We are no longer listening to the lullabies of the last 100 years! We are awake, engaged, informed
and actively committed to determining the direction of our Republic, now and forever!

CFRW NORTHERN DIVISION SPRING 2010 CONFERENCE
CONFERENCE REPORT
Beverly Acker, Terri Lyn Alexander, Bev Anderson, Kay Burton, Marylou Colombo, Marlene Coy, Ruth Crone,
Mary Croxen, Margie DeRow, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Beverlee Gross, Jan High, Suzanne Jones, Karen Klinger, Fran
Kruger, Dottie Linden, Barbara McCarthy and Nancy Sharp were able to have the opportunity to network with our
counterparts in other Northern Division clubs. It is always a pleasure to be surrounded by like minded ladies.
Several of us were able to chat about the health care bill vote with CFRW President, Mariann Hedstrom while we
were in recess. President Hedstrom spoke to us on Sunday and gave us insight into how her first three months in her
position are going. And I thought WE were busy! Both candidates for California Secretary of State (Dr. Orly Taitz
and Damon Dunn) were able to share their background and platforms for us to compare. Candidate for US Senate,
Carly Fiorina also gave us her entertaining background and reasons to support her. There were candidates or candidate campaign staff as well as vendors outside our conference room so we were able to ask questions, pick up literature or shop! Those of us that assisted in collation of the conference packages had coverage during the convention
on the handouts that we stuffed. New process and new procedures were discussed and tried.
Capital Corridor Region was the Hostess with the Mostest group! I heard that one of our ladies even invented a new
coffee creamer flavor.

Political Briefing Legislative News for the Week of February 8, 2010
Last week, the Obama Administration released their $3.8 trillion dollar budget for
fiscal year 2011. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) summed up the
budget best, "It spends too much, it taxes too much, and it clearly borrows too much."
In the budget, federal spending will outgrow projected economic growth in 2011. The Obama
Administration calls for $2 trillion in higher taxes over the next decade. Taxes are levied on business, upper
income-earners, energy, and health care sectors. The death tax is also brought back in 2011. For more
information on the specifics of the Obama budget see http://www.heritage.org/Research/Taxes/wm2790.cfm.
Republican leadership has called on the President to adopt strict budget caps that would limit federal
spending on an annual basis. These "caps" would be enforceable by the President. Caps were proposed last
year in the alternative budget Republicans presented, but were not included in the Obama Administration's 2011
budget.
With this budget, Democrats have failed to demonstrate a departure from deficit exploding measures like
the TARP funding and stimulus bills. House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) mentioned that the federal
government has to "spend our way out of the recession." The budget serves as further evidence of the
Democrat's misguided approach to revitalizing our economy and creating new jobs.
ANOTHER OBAMA GOOF UP - MILITARY FLY OVER DENIED
Obama denied a military flyover at the annual “God and Country” rally in Idaho, where
new military recruits were inducted and all military were honored. This is the first time
in 42 years that there has not been a military flyover in formation, and organizers were
stunned that Obama refused to allow this.
When the lady organizing the event contacted the Pentagon to ask why this was not allowed, as it had
occurred every year for 42 years, she was told it was because of the event’s “Christian nature.” The
video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zGMuN_Ep38 also mentions that when Obama made a recent
speech, a cross and a Christian symbol for Jesus had to be covered first.
AMERICANS NEED TO KNOW!
Deadlines Approaching…Monday is the deadline for the Secretary of
State to make any changes to the June Primary Ballot. This means that any lawsuits or disputes over language must be settled by then. Some of the propositions that may be affected are
Props 14 and 17, which the CFRW has voted to OPPOSE and SUPPORT, respectively. If significant changes have been made to the propositions, the CFRW Voting Body may have to take a look and
reconsider our position. This is unlikely, but a possibility nonetheless. Don’t miss April’s luncheon so
you will be up to date on the Primary Election June 8th!

CFRW Proposition Voter Guide
Tuesday, June 8th, is the Primary Election for California. On the ballot there are five statewide initiatives, two of which could drastically change how we vote and are represented. The California Federation of Republican Women recommends the following voting guide for members of CFRW and “nononsense” California voters. Our April featured speaker CFRW Legislative Advocate, Allison Olsen will
be giving more details and letting us know the reasoning behind the CFRW recommendations on these
Propositions.
Prop 13: YES
Limits on Property Tax Assessment. Seismic Retrofitting of Existing Buildings
Prop 14: NO Primary Election Process Reform. Greater Participation in Elections
Prop 15: NO California Fair Elections Act
Prop 16: YES Imposes New Two-Thirds Voter Approval Requirement for Local Public Electricity Providers
Prop 17: YES Allows Auto Insurance Companies to Base Their Prices in Part on a Driver's History of
Insurance Coverage. Initiative Statute
Initiative measure to Suspend Assembly Bill 32 – California Version of Cap & Trade
There will be petitions to sign at our luncheon. We are working on getting Eric Eisenhammer, California Jobs Initiative to attend our meeting and give us additional information on this initiative.
CFRW ND Conference attendees can also share the knowledge. The initiative requires suspension of
air pollution control laws requiring major polluters to report and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
that cause global warming until unemployment drops below specified level for a full year.
Assemblyman Logue first brought the issue of AB 32's harmful effects to everyone's attention in his
first bill upon taking office (AB 118) where he proposed an AB 32 repeal. AB 32, a California-only
version of cap and trade, was passed in 2006 and its stated purpose is to stop global warming. AB 32
forces dramatic reductions in California's carbon emissions by giving the California Air Resources
Board near dictatorial power to regulate carbon. In effect, AB 32 gives CARB the right to tell us what
to eat, what to drive and where to live. Proposals have already been put forward by CARB to ban
black cars and jail people for not inflating their tires. Economists estimate AB 32 will cost California
over 1 million jobs, cost the average small business $50,000, cost the average family nearly $4000,
and impose $180 billion in new taxes.
H.R. 1388 - The G.I.V.E. Act. created a national volunteer program for everyone 18 and over is just
as scary as ObamaCare! This promotion of volunteerism is rampant in the schools as you know already. It's cheap labor to say the least and it is one way to avoid the statistics of unemployment by
placing, in this instance, people in a quasi-military unit. This is Obama's version of the Adolf's brown
shirts. A complete explanation is on our website under Legislation. So far the $7.5 Billion has not
been funded but it passed and was signed into law again, with the majority against it’s passage!
ARROGANCY AT ITS BEST
Would you walk into a museum and put your feet up on a century Old desk? Does
this photo of President Obama in the Oval Office convey anything about his attitude
and arrogance?
Would you speak with the Chief of Staff, your Chief Economics Adviser, your Senior
Adviser, or anyone, with your feet up on the Resolute Desk - a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880?
This arrogant, immature, self-centered man has no sense of honor, or simple decency. While this posture is disrespectful in any culture, it is not appropriate in any
executive setting. Further, in over half of the cultures of the world, it is recognized
not only as disrespectful, but as an extreme insult.

AMERICANISM
God Bless America! “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of
their Country.” When I was in typing class I always wrote that at the top of
my exam paper. I can’t remember now why I used that specific phrase. It has something to do with
the letters of the alphabet. But friends, it has everything to do with our situation right now, at this
moment in time. As I write this, the House of Representatives are writing changes in the Senate
Health Care bill and they are going to pass it and the president is going to sign it and the American
people be damned. What they are doing is illegal. But whether or not something is legal is no barrier
to doing something they, the democrat majority, wants done. Have we regressed to the point where
we’re no longer a nation of laws? In this month of April when we have tax day, which will be a reminder to everyone that we are a debtor nation and every penny spent by the federal government is
borrowed, let’s remember it’s also the month we celebrate the most sacred holy day in the Christian religion. God has Blessed America! Now is the time for all good men, and women, to come to the aid of
their Country!

Tax Day Tea Party - Thursday, April 15, 2010 - State Capital, West Steps
One year ago, California held the title of the most Tax Day Tea Party Rallies and Sacramento had the largest....Sacramento
is planning on letting the officials in the capitol know we have not gone away!
If you thought last year way great...make way because they are going to knock your socks off! Starting at 9 am, when the
legislature begins their session, as many Tea Party Patriots as possible need to pack the gallery with red shirts. We are going
to make our presence known first thing in the morning. The actual Rally will begin at 12 noon and is over at 3:00 PM.
Every minute of this rally will be filled with excitement and energy like you would not believe! This rally is in tribute to our
military and our patriots, you never know who could be brought on stage or who will be on the jumbotrons. They will once
again have fabulous speakers and entertainers, plenty of merchandise and information for you to take home and share.
We need to reach out to every Patriot attending and show them that Republicans are the Life of the Party!

Important Health Bulletin
Very important information has just been made public that I think is something
you should all be aware of: Gonorrhea Lectim.
The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent
strain of this old disease.
The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim. It's pronounced "Gonna re-elect 'im."
The disease is contracted through dangerous and high-risk behavior involving
putting your cranium up your rectum.
Many victims contracted it in 2008 ...... but now most people, after having been
infected for the past 1-2 years, are starting to realize how destructive this sickness is. It's sad because it is so easily cured with a new procedure just coming
on the market called Vo-tem-out!
You take the first dose/step in 2010 and the second dosage in 2012, and simply
don't engage in such behavior again; otherwise it could become permanent and
eventually wipe out all life as we know it.
Several states are already on top of this like Virginia and New Jersey , and apparently now Massachusetts , with many more seeing the writing on the wall.
Please pass this important message on to all those bright folk you really care
about.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE APRIL 1st. AFTER THAT DATE A LATE CHARGE OF $25
What is Advocacy Workshop and why should I attend?
CFRW Advocacy Workshop is an annual event held in Sacramento. While there you will have the opportunity to see, first-hand, state government at work and meet your legislators to discuss issues that are
important to California voters. On Monday you will wear your red jacket for the group photo and to
lobby on important bills. Also on Monday at the Ambassadors’ Reception in the evening, you will have
the opportunity to socialize with some of our GOP legislators. On Tuesday you will hear from many of
these same assemblypersons and senators about their bills. Tuesday is Student Day when clubs host
high school students who attend. In a student session, they will hear speakers who will educate and motivate them as they learn about the legislative process. Invited to speak are newly-elected Orange County
Assemblyman Chris Norby, San Diego County Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, and NFRW President Sue
Lynch. You will also meet CFRW President Mariann Hedstrom, members of the Executive Committee
and Standing Committee members. You will hear from the six CFRW Legislative Analysts on bills which
they are following for CFRW and from Lobby Day Chairman Edelweiss Geary who will discuss the June
Ballot Measures.

California State Senate Republican Caucus
Democrats Close 8th Extraordinary Session: Walk Away From Budget Remedies
Senate Republican Leader Dennis Hollingsworth (R-Murrieta) released the following statement on the
Democrats’ premature closure of the Special Legislative Session on the Budget Crisis:
“Five years ago, the people placed into the Constitution the requirement that the Legislature, upon the declaration by the
governor, stop all other work in order to address a fiscal crisis. We’re definitely in a fiscal crisis, and the governor two
months ago proposed spending reductions and solutions to the current budget that amounted to more than $8.9 billion. Yet,
today the Democrats closed down the emergency session to deal with that crisis after only finding about $60 million in programmatic spending reductions, and less than a third of the solutions needed.” Said Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth said the Democrats don’t appear willing to make the hard choices in order to bring spending in line with
revenues and balance the budget. “The Democrats’ action, after papering over the deficit, adding more gimmicks, and continuing to spend more than we have, and then closing the emergency session the people demanded at the ballot box as the
most efficient way to get the Legislature to concentrate on the deficit, is extremely irresponsible.” He said.
“It’s time the Democrat majority gets serious about fixing the spending problem and getting California back on track by
removing the obstacles to job creation that will get Californians more jobs and the increase of revenues that will go along
with that.” Hollingsworth concluded.
Democrats Push for Removing Taxpayer Protections
Legislative Proposals Nothing But A Power Grab
Legislative Democrats unveiled a series of legislative proposals today dubbed as “reform measures,” which
would significantly weaken long-standing taxpayer protections.
“The Democrats again are simply trying to take away the protections the people put into the constitution, so
they can raise taxes and spend more. Rather than real reforms that would get California back on track, or provide
more jobs, the Democrats are reverting to form: tax more, spend more," stated Senate Republican Leader Dennis
Hollingsworth (R-Murrieta).
Most notably, the Democrat proposal seeks to lower the vote requirement to a simple majority for both the passage of budget spending and raising local taxes, which is a direct attack on the protections of Propositions 13 and
218 that California voters have repeatedly supported over the last 30-years.

"
A pretty little girl named Suzy was standing on the sidewalk in front of her home.. Next to
her was a basket containing a number tiny creatures; in her hand was a sign announcing
FREE KITTENS. Suddenly a line of big black cars pulled up beside her. Out of the lead car
stepped a tall, grinning man.. "Hi there, little girl, I'm President Obama. What do you
have in the basket?" he asked. "Kittens." little Suzy said.
How old are they? asked Obama. Suzy replied, "They're so young, their eyes aren't even
open yet." "And what kind of kittens are they?" "Democrats," answered Suzy with a
smile. Obama was delighted.. As soon as he returned to his car, he called his PR chief and told him about the little girl and the
kittens. Recognizing the perfect photo op, the two men agreed that the president should return the next day, and, in front of
the assembled media, have the girl talk about her discerning kittens. So the next day, Suzy was again standing on the sidewalk
with her basket of "FREE KITTENS" when another motorcade pulled up, this time followed by vans from ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN.
Cameras and audio equipment were quickly set up ... then Obama got out of his limo and
walked over to little Suzy.
"Hello, again," he said, "I'd love it if you would tell all my friends out there what kind of kittens
you're giving away."
"Yes sir," Suzy said. "They're Republicans." Taken by surprise, the president stammered,
"But ... but ... yesterday, you told me they were DEMOCRATS." Little Suzy smiled and said
... "I know ... But today, they have their eyes open."
