Saints set new world-wide first
for professional club
The New Saints become the World’s first
professional football club to register their image
rights.
threat
Welsh Premier league champions, The New Saints FC
(TNS FC), have become the world’s first professional
football club to register their Image Rights on the
unique Guernsey register.
This unique initiative is being driven by Mike Harris,
TNS FC’s visionary Chairman, and will enable the club
to protect its “corporate brand” and the huge
investment made in developing players at every level.
In addition, through the subsequent registration of its
playing staff, the club can protect the privacy of its
players, including more than 200 youngsters in the
Academy aged from 7-18 years as well as the first team
squad, against unauthorised commercial exploitation.
According to Mike Harris: “We take the privacy of
our players very seriously and are pleased that The
New Saints have become the first professional football
club to complete an Image Rights registration. Whilst
we are surprised to be first football club to do this, we
know that other teams will follow this innovative
initiative to protect their commercial interests and
prevent the reputational damage caused by such
abuses.”
The registration was completed by “Romanillos &
Cook” (R & C), Guernsey’s leading independent
intellectual property agency that specialises in Image
Rights for individual and corporate clients.
Using innovative legislation under Guernsey State
laws, the only jurisdiction that offers world-wide Image
Rights protection, it enables football clubs to reinforce
the investments they have made and ensure that images
are used in an appropriate way to enhance player value.
R & C also offers a monitoring service to enforce
Image Rights using sophisticated internet and media
search tools which scan all web and social media as
well as traditional channels to identify unauthorised
usage of images.

“Registering our Image Rights enhances the commercial
value of our brand and gives additional protection for the
years of hard work that we have undertaken, ensuring that
the club is not tarnished by unauthorised third party usage,”
continued Harris.
“It also provides additional revenue streams and protects
emerging stars at the academy, ensuring that the club
benefits financially if they move to other teams.
Based in Oswestry, Shropshire, TNS FC also regularly
compete in the UEFA Champions League and Europa
League.
Under the leadership of Chairman Mike Harris, this forwardthinking, pro-active football club has made significant
investments into building a solid foundation for the team
including a 3G pitch, restaurant and leisure complex and the
acquisition of additional land for the further development of
the Academy and Ladies teams.

One sentence that we’d never thought you’d read – a Bala Town player will
be playing against the 2014 World Cup Champions this Friday night.
The international break is back and this weekend Gibraltar will be travelling
to Germany to face the World Cup winners.
No doubt the biggest game the country will face, Gibraltar are getting
themselves ready for the game of their lives.
Artell and his teammates will face the Champions at the Grundig Stadion,
based in Nuremberg which has a capacity of 50,000.
They might not have any points on the board or scored so far in this Euro
2016 campaign but this weekend will be another huge milestone for the
smallest team in the UEFA setup and one that they are all proud of.
Bala’s David Artell played the full 90’ against World Champions Germany in
an European Championship qualifier on Friday.
After the match Welsh Premier Times contacted Martin Grüner at Germany’s
renowned Kicker Sportmagazin who commented
“Artell was quite a nice guy after the match, but made several mistakes
especially in the first half. Of course, it was not easy for him against Müller
and Podolski.
“We gave him a rating of 4.6 on our scale…… 1 being highest and 6 the lowest”

Bangor City Host U10 Festival
Saturday 8th November saw Bangor City FC host a North
Wales Girls League U10 Fun Football Festival at The Book
People Stadium Nantporth, Bangor. It was a fantastic day
and great to have girls from all over North Wales coming
together and playing in fun football 5-a-side matches. With
eight teams entering the festival overall this was a fantastic
day for girls football and a great advertisement for the
popularity of girls football with over 60 girls playing from
across North Wales with teams from Rhyl FC; Flint FC;
Llandudno FC; Llangefni; Llanrug and Bangor City FC in
attendance.
The Bangor City FC girls put in fantastic performances in
four matches playing against Flint FC, Llandudno FC,
Llanrug and Rhyl FC. The girls did brilliantly winning two
games, 5-0 vRhyl FC and 7-0 V Llandudno FC; drawing v
Llanrug 0-0 and losing in a tightly contested match v Flint
3-2. The girls put in 4 great performances and it is great to
see the girls coming together and developing with every
match not just as individuals but as a team. This festival saw Sophie Allsop score her first goals for the club,
Reaghan Smith scoring another hat-trick as the team beat Llandudno and Izzy and Millie making their Bangor City
debuts.
Bangor City FC Girls Manager Ethan Ray said “It was fantastic to host an U10 festival here on the 3G Pitch at
Bangor City FC, the fun festival format is a great structure for the U10 girls to play, as it gives everyone plenty of
gametime and gives the girls lots of opportunity to play football and we cannot wait to host our next Festival on
Saturday 17th January 2015”
October Soccer Camp Success
This October Half-term holidays saw Bangor City FC In The Community, the community partnership between
Bangor City FC and Vi-Ability, undertook another successful soccer camp for children aged 4 – 13 years. This camp
was another resounding success, despite the weathers best efforts to spoil the children's fun, with 54 players
attending each day with over 100 children taking part in the camp overall, which provided a fantastic way for the
children to spend their half-term holidays, in a fun, relaxed and professional environment. Delivered by our fully
accredited community coaching staff these camps provide an excellent opportunity for children to develop their
football skills, have fun and engage within constructive activity during their school holidays. Bangor City FC
Community Officer Ethan Ray said “it was great to be able to host another successful camp here at Bangor City FC,
it is a fantastic experience for the children getting to play on a Fifa 2* star 3G Pitch, and all of the players had a
great time, we cannot wait for the next school holidays to deliver our next soccer camp”.

They then travelled to Carmarthen and enjoyed lunch as the club's guests. As a gift to the visitors Mattia was presented
with a special replica club shirt.
The group then watched the 1-1 draw against Connah's Quay with the highlight of their visit coming after the game

LONG serving defender Shane Sutton said he was very proud to have started in 123 consecutive league matches for
the Robins.
Sutton was suspended for the Robins latest game, a 1-0 defeat to Aberystwyth, and it came to light that him missing
the game broke the long run of starts.
However Sutton knew how many consecutive starts he had made, and was disappointed he couldn't carry that on.
He said: "It was something I am very proud of and I was devastated to miss the Aber game.
"I love a Mid Wales derby and just wanted to be on the pitch.
"I realised the achievement before I was suspended for the Aber game as I am into my stats and I always keep
count."
Sutton joined the Robins in 2007 after being released by Shrewsbury Town and started 35 times before moving to
Presteigne St Andrews.
He returned in 2010 and went on to achieve the feat, but admitted at the beginning of his time at Latham Park he
found it tough.
He said: "When I arrived at the club Hugh Clarke was the main defender and I learnt a lot from watching him and
playing alongside him.
"Playing as a 19-year-old centre back in the Welsh Premier League was hard physically.
"I remember one of my first games at Latham Park was against Llanelli and I was up against Rhys Griffiths.
"The week after it was Les Davies, so it was pretty tough and I wondered how I would cope physically."
In the run of 123 starts, Sutton said that one moment sticks out, and it came last season.
He said: "The stand out moment is 100% beating TNS last Boxing Day.
"However for me it is just good to see how far the club have come on in the last year or so.
"The standard all around the club has gone up both on and off the pitch."
Last Friday the Robins chance to climb back into the top six was scuppered by rain, with their game against Bala
being postponed.
However despite dropping to eighth, Sutton believes the side is more than capable of securing a top six position this
season.
He said: "I was disappointed it was called off, especially with me missing the game the week before.
"I was dying to play on Friday night.
"But I think we can definitely come through this current patch of form.
"It is the lowest we have been in the league for over a year now.
"However we have strong characters and I am sure we will be putting in maximum effort to get back into the top six
before the split.".

PRESTATYN TOWN
www.ptfconline.co.uk
Prestatyn Town have announced the departure of Greg Stones
to neighbours Rhyl. In similar fashion to Lee Hunts recent
move, Stones will initially be on loan until the January transfer
window opens when his transfer will be made permanent.
Chairman Chris Tipping told ptfconline.co.uk “We are sad to
see Greg leave because he is well liked by everyone at the club.
However, we have a vision that future Prestatyn teams will be
made up of mainly local lads who we can develop and
progress. Greg does not fit into those plans so it has been
mutually agreed that he should move on. I am glad to say that
Greg has left on the best of terms and will always be welcomed
back at Prestatyn.
Part of the Welsh Cup winning side of 2013 and the successful
Europa league team, Greg played in a number of positions for
the club but will be best remembered as a dominant centre back who was able to use both feet with aplomb. We
wish Greg all the very best for the future.
Prestatyn's director of football Neil Gibson said after the 2-1 win on Saturday: "We started sloppily, but conceding
an early goal probably helped us as it brought us to life.
"I was really pleased at the way our young players stood up to be counted and the way experienced lads like Dave
Hayes, Mike Parker and Jack Lewis helped them along.
"We needed a win because of Rhyl's great result on Friday night as we didn't want to become detached.
"In the end we could have won more emphatically, but I was delighted to take the three points against such a strong
side. Hopefully this result will boost confidence and we can build from here."

URGENT FIRE APPEAL
Following last week’s calamitous fire at the Corbett Sports Stadium, causing extensive damage to the Boiler Room
and Dressing Room areas, reports have now been received from both the Fire Service and the Club’s Insurers.
Additionally, estimates have been commissioned from Firms, the Football Club are , despite having the necessary
Insurance Cover, facing substantial costs to repair and replace the damaged items and are therefore in urgent need of
funds to assist in this task, Accordingly, we are launching a “Rhyl Football Club Fire Appeal” and would be grateful
for any donations that Businesses, Firms and Supporters can provide.
The urgency of this Appeal cannot be underestimated and Rhyl FC would welcome any help at this most difficult
time. Additional Fund Raising initiatives are being arranged and considered. However, an immediate cash injection
is required in order that the Club can commence playing again at the Corbett Sports Stadium in the near future...
Rhyl sign 32 year old defender, Greg Stones from Prestatyn Town.
Stones has made five appearances for the Seasiders this season, and is returning to Rhyl for the third time in his
career.
Stones first played for Rhyl back in 2004 and made 58 appearances before leaving for TNS in 2006. The defender
returned to the Belle Vue in 2008 before moving on to play for Colwyn Bay and Prestatyn Town.
The club would like to welcome Greg back to the Lilywhites and believe he can make a big contribution in what has
so far, been a tough season.
THE NEW SAINTS FC
www.tnsfc.co.uk
Harrison Hails Reed Signing
TNS manager, Craig Harrison was delighted to have secured the services of Jamie Reed earlier this week and
admitted that he wants to continue to improve his playing squad.
The current Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Champions signed the former York City forward after he returned
from a spell in Australia and Harrison added, 'I think it's really important to keep strengthening and the best time to
strengthen is when you are being successful.'
The former Barclays Premier League defender has been in charge of TNS since 2011 and confirmed that the current
crop of players in the squad, are the best he has had during his time at Park Hall Stadium,
“We want to keep the pressure on all of the players and make them know that they are playing for their positions,
not only on a match-day but every day in training. I have said from the start of the season, I have got the best all
round squad I have had in three years. However, we don't want to rest there. We want to keep pushing and
improving everyday and continue to strengthen all over the pitch”
Harrison added that, “No players in this squad can think they are safe and can afford to relax, due to the quality of
the whole squad. The most important thing is the success of the team and not the individuals within it.”
Reed will add to The Saints' attacking options which currently include the likes of Mike Wilde, Greg Draper, Ryan
Fraughan, Alex Darlington, Scott Quigley, Ryan Edwards, Jamie Mullan, Adrian Cieslewicz and Matty Williams
and Harrison is extremely happy with the competition for places in the squad, 'Jamie signing for us gives us even
more competition in all four forward positions because he can play as a number nine and on both the right and left
wing. He can also play in the number ten position which gives me extra options.'
Having played for the likes of York City, Cambridge United, Chester FC as well as a successful spell at rivals,
Bangor City, Reed will inevitably add more goals to an already free scoring side.
Harrison concluded by praising his attitude, “Jamie has a great attitude and wants to work hard. He is a very good
player and has a lot of power, pace and strength. He is also able to score goals, which he has done everywhere he
has ever been.”
New Zealand International, Greg Draper has given the ever growing TNS Academy another boost by agreeing to
join them as a Striker coach.
The New Saints’ prolific forward will assist players from the Academy with their forward play and specifically,
their finishing skills.
Draper was born in Somerset but represented New Zealand in the 2007 Under-20 World Cup, which was held in
Canada.
Draper was also included in the squad for the football tournament at the Summer Olympics in Beijing, playing in
group matches against Brazil and Belgium against the likes of Ronaldinho and Thomas Vermaelen.
The TNS number nine made his senior international debut for the All Whites in 2008 in a FIFA World Cup qualifier
against Fiji.
Prior to joining the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Champions, the striker played for Canterbury United,
Wellington Phoenix, Melbourne Knights and Team Wellington before returning to the UK, where he scored 15
goals in season 2010/11 for Basingstoke Town in Conference South.

An ideal Christmas gift
Covers all nations, clubs and national leagues in
Europe
INCLUDING WALES
AND THE WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
THE LAST WORD
by Andrew Howard
I’m sure that all readers will agree, it was fantastic to see Chris Coleman’s National side gain a fantastic
point in Belgium last night. I know that there were many club officials and fans who ventured across the
Channel in support of Bale and the Boys as maintained our four match unbeaten start to the Campaign.
It’s a long way away and we shouldn’t get carried away even before the half-way stage of the Group, but
it’s in the Welsh psyche to dream that this side could be history makers.
So, why focus on this in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League newsletter?
Well, qualification would be hugely significant for the Football Association of Wales. As well as the
prestige of qualification and putting Wales firmly back on the football map; we would see a substantial
growth of the game with more players and volunteers wanting to become involved and of course, there
would be a considerable financial windfall for the Association.
The latter two points could be hugely beneficial for the National Game and our Welsh Premier League. So
let’s hope that Chris, former Welsh Premier League Manager Osian Roberts, and the team keep this
excellent run going.
It was another interesting weekend in the League, with Chris Venables again adding to his reputation with
a late equaliser with a fine finish to grab a point at the home of the Champions. The Saints have now gone
2 years unbeaten at home and we congratulate them for that incredible achievement.
Prestatyn came from behind to gain a fine win over Port Talbot and in young Jordan Davies, they seem to
have unearthed a real diamond. Jason Oswell is another player who has settled in perfectly at his new club,
as he scored his tenth of the campaign to beat Bangor City who are now nine points from safety and six
from Prestatyn in eleventh.
Airbus kept the pressure on Aberystwyth in second as Chris Budrys scored twice to end Bala’s fine run,
whilst Connahs Quay claimed a late point at Carmarthen thanks to loanee Steve Evans’ goal. Rhyl picked
up a valuable three points at Cefn Druids on Friday evening with Mark Cadwallader scoring the solitary
goal from the edge of the box.
The action comes thick and fast as we reach the Semi-Final stage of the Word Cup on Tuesday. Bala Town
host Prestatyn and on paper, will be the favourites to reach the final for the second successive season.
The other semi-final sees TNS host Port Talbot Town at Park Hall. With the Saints unbeaten on their patch
in two years, they will be the favourites going into the game, which Leigh DeVulgt will miss following his
red card on Saturday. Carl Evans should be recalled to Jarred Harvey’s team.
Kick-off in both matches is at 7:45, with the four team playing for a place in January’s Final..
Enjoy your week
