Annual Day Celebration We started the Bal-Vihar program in 1999 and held our first Annual Day ceremony in 2000. The program started with a few dedicated parents getting together to plant the seeds of knowledge for our children. The program has been very successful and registration for the 2012-13 Balvihar-year reached a maximum of 200 students. With inauguration of Shri Parvesh Swani Vidyamandir we have addressed the space issue for the current level of enrollment of about 200 students. The Temple has spent more than $500,000 for this project, which has depleted Temple’s operating cushion. We need your financial support to replenish it. On behalf of the Bal-Vihar program, we ask everyone to donate generously, which furthers the education of the next generation of Indian-Americans. On June 8, 2013 we celebrated the 14th Bal-Vihar Annual Day, and this fall we will start our 15th year of the Bal-Vihar Program. Here are some of the noteworthy accomplishments of the 2012-2013 Bal Vihar School-year: • • • • • • • We had 211 students enrolled - our highest ever. We moved junior and senior classes to the new building in December 2012. We had 20 students teaching/volunteering in the program compared to 23 last year. We formalized Bal Vihar Student Volunteer Program. More parents than ever are involved in the program. We have web-based Hindi and Gujarati learning programs. The Bal-Vihar parents donated over $40,000 for the Bal-Vihar Class room project at the Vastu Pujan for the new building. To date 1,806 students have been enrolled in the program. We always look for new ideas to improve the program. If you have any suggestions for making the program better, please send us an email at [email protected]. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Greater Baltimore Temple’s Board of Governors, and Board of Trustees for their support. They have not only supported the program but have donated generously to make the program successful. We appreciate the hard work of our coordinators, teachers, parents, volunteers, subcommittee chairs and especially of the students. As a Community Service we continued our celebration of Gandhi Jayanti by packing lunch bags for the area soup kitchens, and by supporting the Temple’s Annadata program. Most importantly, we celebrated our culture and had fun along the way with the Ganesh Pooja, the Diwali celebration, the Saraswati Pooja, the Holi celebration, and the Annual Picnic. --- Jitesh Parikh, Hari Razdan Congratulations to all the 2013 Graduates!
