SEPTEMBER 15, 2015
Sturgis, SD. – IMBBA celebrates it’s 10th year anniversary. IMBBA had the honor in making a historic and
meaningful milestone for its tenth year, marking the success and accomplishments earned over its ten year
efforts, more especially to honor the four inductees in a ceremony and celebration that took place at the
Broken Spoke Campground during the 75th Sturgis Bike Rally. IMBBA Inducted: Billy Lane, Roger Goldammer,
Fabrizio “SUGAR” Favre and Steve “BREW
DUDE” Garn for the high standards in
their work, giving back to the industry
through contributions to the industry
demonstrated by their accomplishments
in development of products, designs,
education
or
training,
charity,
sponsorships, and personal appearances
along with providing the industry with
20+ years of service. This “Life Time
Achievement Award” is a big deal, in that
IMBBA goes to great lengths to identify
those who qualify through a points
system rather than the” good old boys”
network to determine those industry

Dubai, U.A.E. This year’s World Championship Builders Competition being held in the United
Arab Emirates, Dubai. Is being hosted by Final Cut Events promoter, Loay Hussein. Loay, is making
the IMBBA’s global standards of Fit, Form, Function and Safety well known to all in the Countries
of Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan and the UAE. The event drawing builders from USA, Canada,
Italy and Germany will
promote these standards by
opening an IMBBA Judges
course to the builders of these
countries. Registration for the
course was opened last month
and 16 builders have already
registered for the course. This
is a signal that builders are
now paying attention to those
who are winning in Bike
Building competitions and
gaining name recognition by
the only professionally trained
and industry endorsed

judging entity. This course taught on a regular basis at Power sports Institute in North Randall,
Ohio, will be transported across the pond and held on Friday and Saturday of the event. The
classroom will be held in a 7 star hotel conference room and then in the field training at the event
where these builders get the opportunity to test the skills and knowledge provided them by
judging the top bikes from around the world that will be in attendance during the Festival event
This November. (Don’t worry builders their scores don’t count in the competition!)
IMBBA is the only professional bike judging
organization on the planet that trains judges and
establishes historic value to classifications to take
the inconvenience away from bike rally promoters
and provide a mentoring and official judging
techniques to the participants to improve the
quality of bikes and their safety for the public. “It is
only practical to see that the points system
developed by IMBBA president, Jeff Starke reflects
that of the builder’s knowledge that we use in order
to judge the bikes and give credit points to the builder when earned for their professional
certification”. Said Ron Radeke, IMBBA Master Judge, Master Bike Builder, Motorcycle Instructor
and Director at PSI.
IMBBA is proud of the students and their enthusiasm, it shows a caring and respect to builders
that they want to judge fairly and accurately which is the IMBBA claim to fame among builders
and promoters. This attitude has launched IMBBA to be a globally recognized and appreciated.
IMBBA will open its doors in the spring 2016 for another course at PSI. Stay Tuned!

Jacksonville, FL - Upon returning from Sturgis, IMBBA President Jeff Starke paid a visit to Favre
Motorcycles in Jacksonville, Florida to personally present the IMBBA Hall of Fame award. Fabrizio,
known affectionately by the trade as
”Sugar”, IMBBA certified Master Bike
Builder and Master Judge recently
moved from Italy to USA and set up
his customizing shop in Jacksonville.
Here with his wife Oriana they just
arrive and needed to stay with the
business and was unable to make the
trek to Sturgis. So he requested
IMBBA President to accept the
honor.
Fabrizio “Sugar” Favre (L) IMBBA President Jeff Starke (R)
Presenting this award after working with Fabrizio over in Italy over the last four years, has
proven him as worthy for such a distinguish award and I was pleased to present it to him.
Fabrizio was originally honored in Italy by IMBBA and now joins us in America while remaining
IMBBA country representative for Italy and assisting his fellow countrymen with IMBBA global
judging standards and certification While his wife, Oriana, continues to be advocate for the
Bikers for Bambino’s.
"Hello everyone, I'm sorry I cannot be personally present at such an important event, but my absence is for important reasons.
I'm honored my entry into the Hall of Fame IMBBA. The IMBBA is an association in which I have always believed and being born and grow
up in Italy. I have the honor to represent IMBBA in Italy, where I have involved many Italian professionals of great quality. Now I live and
work in the United States of America, where I hope to have great satisfaction as I had in Italy.
With honor and respect I thank all the Board of Directors of IMBBA who honored me with this exclusive recognition".

Columbus, OH.- Tony Cianci, Florida Full Throttle Magazines Editor and Chief, expands his
horizons and rally style which brings entertainment with a new view and enthusiasms outside of
Florida. It was August 13-15 2015 in Columbus, Ohio at the Quaker Steak and Lube that IMBBA
was brought in to judge the first Full Throttle Bike show. The event which sported top builders
from both local and far off places to come to compete for $20,000 cash prizes. The bikes present
made for a very tough judging as some of these competitors were at the Ohio Bike week and
already met with IMBBA Judges to hear what they could do to improve their builds. Then,
couldn’t wait, according to some of them, to see what IMBBA judges had to say after improving
their builds It was a great show in many respects and everyone competing was happy with the
results. An important value for Bike show promoters.
One such builder Cole
Rogers who won Best of
Show in Ohio Bike Week
showed up with not only
his winning bike but
made the judges work
twice as hard with his
new addition which
surpasses his original
winning entry . While
for the first time and at
this
show
another
surprise emerged. It was
said that is difficult to
customize a Harley VRod and make it look
good and perform well. Until this show. Now proves us all wrong with the green entry of a v-rod
bagger custom. Taking top place in the class and some of the prize money. This bike was selected
by the judges. As “Judges Choice” and ward bestowed by the promoter and we give an identity
by selecting the bike of the show that we would want to throw a leg over and go ride. This V-Rod
bagger was selected.

Quaker Steak and Lube Columbus Ohio Show s IMBBA will be there Judging and he felt we were
fair and impartial. But, when he arrived he debut
a one up upon himself with his 1975 Split rocker
and transmission Entry that out did the first one.
Wining again Best of Show at the Full Throttle
Quaker Steak and Lube bike show. Taking home
over $2,000 in prizes.

THE SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT I-X PISTON POWERED AUTO-RAMA
PRESENTED BY RAD AIR COMPLETE CAR CARE AND TIRE CENTERS
CONTINUES
STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL MASTER BIKE BUILDER
ASSOCATION AND THUNDER ROADS OHIO MAGAZINE
Cleveland, Ohio (August __, 2015) The Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston
Powered Auto-Rama Presented by Rad Air Complete Car Care and Tire Centers
announced today its continuation of its strategic alliance with the International Master
Bike Builders Association and Thunder Roads Ohio Magazine. The alliance will once
again bring the IMBBA and their judges to the I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama to judge
all the motorcycles in 12 classes along with the Duck Award, Best in Show and Pro
Builders class of bikes. Thunder Roads Magazine will host the Thunder Zone at the show
and will collect ballots from show-goers for the “People’s Choice” award. The IMBBA will
also be inviting Bike Builders from throughout the country to attend the show.
“We started our strategic alliance with the IMBBA in 2015 and we were
overwhelmed with the response that we got from the biker community,” said Show
Manager Steve Legerski. “Working with the IMBBA and Thunder Roads Magazine
provides more horsepower to the show with more cash awards while preserving the
history of the show with the $1,500 Duck Award.”
“We’re very excited to have the International Master Bike Builders Association
back for the 50th IX Piston Powered Auto-Rama,” said Jim Grosso, Summit Racing Retail
Super Store Manager. “The level of customization and build quality that goes into these
bikes is simply outstanding, and we’re proud to recognize those builders with awards and
cash prizes.”
“It is with great pride that the IMBBA has been selected to once again judge this
amazing show. Working within this strategic alliance with the I-X Piston Powered AutoRama and Thunder Roads Ohio, the IMBBA will seek out the most talented bike builders
and enthusiasts throughout the country and reward them for their passion,” said IMBBA
Founder and President Jeff Starke. “All of the IMBBA judges strictly adhere to a straightforward set of published guidelines used to award points and all IMBBA judges go through
a training apprenticeship, judging bikes alongside founding president and chief judge, Jeff

Starke. The judges use trade standards to award points that define the bike’s Fit, Form,
and Function & Safety.”
“Thunder Roads Ohio is proud to once again be a part of the I-X Piston Powered
Auto-Rama, one of the nation’s premier custom shows. As we celebrate the 50 th
Anniversary of the Auto-Rama show here in Cleveland, we look to help bring the
motorcycle aspect to a whole new level with even more world class bikes,” said Thunder
Roads Ohio Publisher, Derek Smith. “With the involvement of the International Master
Bike Builders Association (IMBBA), we are able to ensure that the show will be
professionally judged with an established system that is clearly the industry standard. We
look forward to helping host bike builders from across the country and truly showcase
some of the most exciting builds anywhere. Builders are able to hoist these trophies and
know that they truly achieved something – being judged by the best, against some of the
best.”
“The I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama is certainly one of the best values of any car
or motorcycle show ticket anywhere. It’s hard to imagine how you could pack more into
the show – but they try to every year!”
The show will be celebrating its 50 years in Cleveland having started in 1967 at
the Cleveland Convention Center with “The Former Fifty” and the “Featured Fifty”
vehicles. The Former Fifty are winners from the past which will displayed on Thunder Row
as part of the 2016 Cruising’ Times All Stars and the Featured Fifty will be a combination
of ISCA Show Cars from around the country to the many specialty vehicles that once
graced the show floor from 1967 through the 2015 show including Drag-U-La (1967), The
Man from U.N.C.L.E. Spy Car (1968), The Illusion (1967), The Red Baron Roadster
(1970), The Morque Machine (1982) which was inspired by the TV Show “Mork and

IMBBA Welcomes Derek Smith, Thunder Roads Ohio Magazine Director as
sponsor and promoter of IMBBA. In the past several years, IMBBA and Thunder Roads
Ohio Magazine have been working together sharing the same ideas to see a more
organized professional industry and has contributed in doing so. With IMBBA celebrating
its 10th Anniversary this year. IMBBA reflects on those who have been instrumental in
supporting the Global Standards of Bike show judging and professional’s certifications.
Thus meeting the goal and mission of IMBBA as leaving this industry better than the way
we found it through Education training and certification. Thank you Derek and Thunder
Roads Ohio magazine for this valuable support.
JUDGE’S TIPS
Brought to you by:
Man, Look at that paint!, and that Chrome. Check this out! This is cool too! All these travel in the
minds of the observers who attend bike shows. For many it’s all the eye candy one can take in.
and for others it is to see what’s what, who’s doing what and to get ideas for the next project, or
to look for the next shop to build your ideas into motorcycle. But for the Judges, it is a check
point, while you as the builder may have spent countless hours staring at your creation in bare
metal and form. Judges get a snapshot and spend many moments making sure it meets IMBBA
global Standards of fit, form, function and safety. If it does, scores move up incrementally as each
consideration is identified by that standard and entered in categories that meet the criteria to be
a motorcycle. With that said. IMBBA has in its criteria, Engineering, Fabrication and Originality,

Page
while most are unaware at the scoring. It is this standard that all bikes must meet. So a helpful
tip to score well under these global standards would be to hold each attribute, each part in your
hand and before assembling it, ask the question???? Does this meet Fit, Form Function and
safety? If it does, you’re bound to score well. GOOD LUCK AND SEE YA AT OUR NEXT SHOW!
I can never thank all those who have added value, sacrifice and
time from their busy shops and even those retired from the
business who donated trophies, cash and or their valuable time
that has got us to say WOW 10 years! So much contributed to
the IMBBA growth, now global in 14 countries and this year we
toppled our five year average of 1600 + members to now 1720.
With now judging over 13 shows globally, I see great things
for the next ten years thanks to all who have contributed their
time, money and expertise not to mention influence within our
profession. I say we can stay true to our mission thanks in part
to all of you by “leaving the industry better than the way we
found it through education, training and certification”.
I am extremely proud of our Hall of Fame inductees and the value system of recognition we
use. This has made the job of our Board of Directors easier and allows for a clearer vision and
voting. Then there are the judges who without their help and eagerness and dedication to
seeing an honest system of judging has help promoters to see the value IMBBA can bring to
the table. And a special thanks to Power Sports Institute for help spreading the word and
encourage our next generation of Mechanics by using IMBBA courses and influence.
Special thanks and recognition I know you all will agree, is the tenacity, professional skills and
Can-do attitude and determination exhibited by Jean Starke, my wife. For without her
encouraging me to get it done and do it right we still be in the Stone Age.
Looking now towards the next ten years we can only hope to surpass the first ten years.
Thanks everyone and Happy 10th!

If you have submitted your “Certify Me” worksheet located on the
IMBBA website: http://www.imbba.com/certifyme.html and never
heard from IMBBA. It is quite possible that you submitted the worksheet by copying and
pasting it into an e-mail to IMBBA. If this is the case, it will not be addressed because the
worksheet instructions points out and directs you to save the worksheet as an excel file,
this is the only way IMBBA can process your worksheet for certification.
IMBBA is expanding leaps and bounds and as such, I must kindly ask everyone’s
cooperation in sending their documents in this file format. Recent developments from the
Board of Directors will now enable us to better serve the industry. If you feel you have not
heard anything regarding your certification you may contact [email protected]
Many members have gone on the IMBBA website and filled out the worksheet and
discovered their points are not reflective of their experience. This is because the
worksheet is made to capture information and assess a value in points. Once IMBBA
receives the worksheet, we then request your documentation and photo’s resume, etc.
based on these documents, the points will change and reflect more accurately your life
