Dear Parents
Thank you for your support in the celebration of Catholic
Schools Week. I hope that the children gained some
appreciation of the special nature of our school and how we
work with you to build a wonderful community.
Many thanks to all our mothers, grandmothers and visitors
who attended our Catholic Schools Week and Mother’s
Day celebration last Friday. We hope they enjoyed the
opportunity to visit the classrooms. The children always
love sharing their ‘school time’ with family members.
Congratulations to all our children who received the
Sacrament of Confirmation last week. Congratulations and
thank you also to the parents and the sacramental team for
their work in preparing the children.
On Wednesday this week we held a very informative
Kindergarten Parent morning. Thank you to the Kindy
Mums and Dads who attended and of course our
Kindergarten teachers and Mrs Patricia Lee (our teacher
Librarian) and Mrs Mary Davis (now enjoying retirement
and a ‘playful nanna’!!) for their expertise.
The children in Years 3 and 5 completed the NAPLAN
(National Assessment Programme Literacy and Numeracy)
this week. Language Conventions (spelling, punctuation
and grammar) and a separate writing test were held on
Tuesday, Reading test on Wednesday and Numeracy test
(number, algebra function and pattern measurement,
chance and data and space) today. A ‘catch-up’ day will be
held tomorrow (Friday) for students who missed a test or
were absent on a particular day.

NEWS FLASH
In our Easter Unit called ‘New Life’ we have been
talking about the Circle of Life and reading the Bible
passage (Jn 20: 1 – 30) about Jesus’ Resurrection. We
have written news reports that might have been seen in
the local papers at the time that Jesus died and rose
from the dead. 4S reporter Amy Hassarati wrote:
IS OUR LORD ALIVE???
When Mary Magdalene went to the tomb she saw an
angel. Mary said, “Where did you put the Lord’s
body” then she started crying. The angel said to her,
“They haven’t taken the Lord’s body anywhere. He
has risen.” But Mary didn’t believe him at first.
Then Mary saw someone standing behind her – it was
Jesus. She didn’t recognise him then Jesus said “Why
are you crying?” Mary said, “They have taken my
Lord away”. Jesus said “Mary” and then Mary
believed. She said “Rabboni” (which means teacher.)
