EXECUTIVE SUMMARY COMPANY NAME: POPTATO We choose this name because our food is in a small size, which is usually known as “pop”, and our food is based on potato, so we collaborate them and take Poptato as our name . @poptato.co TAGLINE: POP IN YOUR MOUTH It means when people eat Poptato, they will feel the sensation of bomb of deliciousness explodes in their mouth. @dtb764p Poptato Company is a start up company which sells food and beverages. Poptato tries to make a new innovation in the products that want to be sold. We choose POPTATO as our company’s name based on our main ingredient , potato. Our products are “Poptato” and “J.Lo”. We present Poptato as sausage covered by the crispy potato outside. Our beverage product is J.Lo, J.Lo is really fresh lemon tea with jelly and mint leaf. Our products are for all people without any exception. We presented on 21st and 22 nd November at Jessie James Outlet on Jalan Riau No. 26 Bandung from 8 a.m until 5 p.m. Poptato will complete your culinary tourism. Your culinary tourism will not be completed before you try our best Poptato and J.Lo. We take “carnival” as our theme, we want the costumers feel the happiness of PopTato, so we decorated our booth in red and yellow color. 4 CODE OF ETHICS Before we started our whole activity, Poptato had already made an agreement so we can work effectively. The code of ethics is applies for all Poptato’s member. 1 Be professional : discipline, have responsibility with your jobs, help each other, don’t be lazy, be active, hardwork, etc. 2 Act with integrity, competence, diligence, respect and in an ethical manner with the public, clients (customers), colleagues in the profession, and other participants in this company. 3 Place the integrity of the profession and the interests of clients above their own personal interests. 4 Practice and encourage others to practice in a professional and ethical manner that will reflect credit on themselves and the profession. 5 Maintain and improve their professional competence and strive to maintain and improve the competence of other professionals. 6 Every other participants that will have collaboration with us must sign the contract, after signing the contract it means they are agree, so they have to follow the rules that we have given in the contract. PRODUCTS 3.1 Product details Everybody loves potato and sausages. So, we combined both main ingredients and that’s an innovation that has been made by Poptato Company. To add the value of Poptato, we mix the Poptato with several sause taste spicy, salty, sweet, and savory. We also combine Poptato with Original sauce (ketchup or chili sauce with mayonaise), Barbeque Sauce, and Teriyaki Sauce. The customer could choose from three types of sauce based on their preferences. 3.2 Expectation 8 3.3 Customer’s Feedbacks A fter the customers had tried our poptato, we asked them to write some reviews in order to evaluate our work. Surprisingly, their reviews and comments overall is good. They said our poptato was delicious and our service was good 3.4 Improvements It’d be better if there's more equipments and operator available. There was situation when a lot of customers buy certain product at the same time and the customers have to wait for a quite long time. In addition, our variety of products needs a larger kitchen space, so that all products don’t have to be made at the same place which can cause ineffectiveness 9 4. PREPARATION 4.3 General Preparation a. Choose CEO and Make Organization Structure We chose Nanda Bagus as our CEO because Nanda has already had an experience in controlling an event. As we chose Nanda as our CEO, we also made our organization structure and decided who will be in certain position like operation, marketing, HR, and many more. b. Market research by Marketing The result is we choose sausages that covered with potato as our food, and ice lemon tea jelly for our drink. c. Create Name and Making Company’s Logo After we finally found what our food is, we finally named our company based on the food that we sell, we also made our logo. That day, we were official as a new company “Poptato”. d. Decide Selling Place After doing some research, we decided to choose Jessie James as our place. e. Submitted Proposal to Jessie James Our CEO, Nanda made an appointment with the general manager of Jessie James to give the proposal, we finally found our place. f. Experiments We did 3 times experiments to get the proper scale for our food and drinks. We did our experiments at our member’s house. g. Spreading vouchers to universities We gave 120 vouchers to people in Bandung h. Negotiating with Kecamatan Babakan Ciparay i. Collecting stuff for excecution day We collect the stuff that we need for the next day, did the briefing. Everyone stayed overnight at one of our member’s house. 10 4.1 Operation Preparation a. Menu searching First of all, we did the menu searching, we estimated what will be our product. We choose some kinds of food, like cimol with greentea , streetfood like French fries, and many more. b. Experiment We did three times experiments in order to get the proper scale for our food and drinks. We did the experiments at one of our member’s house. 4.2 Marketing Preparation A) Market Research Before we start our project, the first thing we did was doing market research, because we have to know who will be our customer, what do they want, how much will the food cost, and where the most crowded place is. In order to know those things, we spread the questionnaire B) Social Media Marketing Nowadays, social media is a common yet the most effective way to get your company known by public. This advantage is being used by our company to promote more about our company and build people’s awareness about our products. Thinking about the most the most common used social media used by our target market, we decided to make an Instagram account, and also LINE official account. 2. Instagram : @poptato Our Instagram account is used to keep the Popfriends updated with us by sharing our teaser about food and drink, product’s information, interesting promotions or discounts (including quiz), announce winner of the quiz, and latest news about us 11 1. LINE official account : @dtb1764p Our LINE official account is used to spread the information and interesting promotions or discounts. Basically, our Instagram and LINE official account has the same promotion content. However, we more often broadcast news about Poptato on our LINE official account, considering there are many Popfriends who added our LINE official account, and also the time that our target market use to chat in LINE takes more time rather than any other social media. To gain LINE’s friends and in order to gain people’s awareness, we make quiz which held 2 times. Moreover, we also contact some of Bandung’s food blogger account in Instagram to promote our products by reposting our picture. This technique is used to get people who lives in Bandung’s attention. After sending our pictures and caption, we got featured in @wisatakuliner_bandung & @akulapar for free. C) Printed Advertising To make students know about our company and product, we decided to make an invitation to potential buyer who called “lucky people”. We make 120 small invitations (6x10 cm, printed in soft art paper). After listing potential places, we decided to spread the invitations to several high schools and universities (private and public school), and also strangers. Here are the list of the distribution: - SMAN 3 Bandung ( 10 invitations) - SMAK 1 BPK Penabur Bandung (10 invitations) - SMA St. Aloysius Bandung (10 invitations) - Institut Teknologi Bandung - to all faculty and some of UKM (40 invitations) We spread 1/3 of our invitations in our own university considering most of them will come. - Parahyangan University (15 invitations) - Maranatha Christian University (15 invitations) - Our own friends (20 invitations) 12 D) Quiz In order to gain LINE account’s friends and also having fun with our Popfriends, we decided to make 2 quiz. The first quiz was held on Monday, 8th November 2015 , and the question was “What is the fill of Poptato?” The quiz’s goal is to make people know about what our signature product is. Total participants of 1 st quiz is 40 people and we’ve reached the target for first quiz (80 friends added us on LINE). We choose the winner by stalking the participants who answered right one by one and search for the one who have many followers. This technique is used to make the winner’s followers know about Poptato, because the winner was required to upload the photo contains Poptato’s information. The second quiz was held on Monday, November 15 th. The quiz’s goal is to make people know about the main theme and decoration. So, when they heard the word “carnival”, they would probably think about Poptato. Total participant of the 2 nd quiz is 57 people, and we’ve reached the target for the second quiz (140 friends added us on LINE). The technique to find the winner is still the same. E) Personal LINE Chat In this marketing strategy, every person in our company should greet some friends, share about what Poptato is, and ask them to follow Poptato’s social media, also invite them to come on our execution day directly. F) Endorsement We have endorsed 5 hits people from ITB, Parahyangan University, UNIKOM, UNISBA and UPI. This endorsement is used to make their followers notices Poptato, and come to our booth. In return, we gave them a free product if only they come to our booth. G) Changing our profile picture All of Poptato’s members changed their profile picture. The propose of using this technique is to raise the feel of curious from people so they became aware to Poptato because they saw lots of people using the same template for the profile picture 13 4.4 Financial Preparation In creating a financial budget, first of all we give freedom to the other divisions to report the budget in case they need. After they conducted a survey on the market, they reported the budgets they need. After that we made a budget. After the capital was provided, we begin to divide to the first division who can purchase needs first. But, there are also a few of them bought the goods and materials in advance then report to us, but in condition that the goods is determined according to the price of the initial agreement. In financial activities, we emphasize to each division to record each transaction to facilitate our record financial statements. For coordination with other divisions, such as if the price of corn flour are used beyond the initial set of prices, our finance division prioritizes communication. So if there is a price or goods turns unexpected, as long as had been discussed in advance and has sought alternatives, we are willing to spend the money. 14 5. EXECUTION 5.1 Rundown Plan This is one of our schedule On Sunday morning, at 3 a.m, our operation team woke up and started making the batter. The tent team went to Jessie James. At 6.30 all of our team arrived in Jessie James, we had some finishing preparation and pray, after that at 7.30 we could start selling. We sold our food in the booth and we spread our team around Jalan Riau. On Sunday, the situation was more crowded than Saturday, it was a good chance for us. At 2 p.m our safety stock was decreasing more than It had to be, so our CEO and COO decided to restock our ingredient, restock team (Alifa and Andri) went to the nearest market to buy the 5 kg of potato, fortunately the plan ran well and our restock team came before our ingredients became exactly empty. So while there are a lot of costumers came we were ready to serve them. At 4 pm, our poptato was sold out, and we decided to just sold our J.Lo because we didn’t have time to buy the ingredients anymore. Finally, at 5 p.m we closed. (10% discount for the first 30 customers) A) Food blogger’s review We have contacted @foodiary_bdg considering his instagram’s feed is all about food that price is not too pricey , and he came on our execution day (Saturday, November 21st 2015). Luckily, when he asked the details about our company, we told him that this was our first time selling our products in “market”, and he gave us a free promotion. He captured our product, asked what our product is, and reviewing our products on his Instagram. When the customer finish shopping in our stand, we will shout “Terimakasih Kak/Bu/Pak (name)” And we can see the bright smile hanging on our customer’s face. That is such a pleasure for us. D) Dance and shout on the road When our booth is not so crowded, we decided to dance on the road and shout some sentences about Poptato, like: “Ayo Bapak/Ibu dicoba dulu Poptatonya”, “Poptatonya yuk!” and this technique works well because there were so many people saw us dancing and shouting, and some of them come to our booth. E) Mobile selling around Riau’s street and GOR Saparua We decided to sell around Riau’s street in front of factory outlet (Summit, Heritage, etc) and sell around GOR Saparua. The effective mobile selling was on Sunday, because there were so many people hanging out in Riau’s street on Sunday. And to make our mobile selling easily, we have made a catchy holder to hold about 4-6 products. F) Make “ojek-payung” service Due to rainy season, we make “ojek payung” service for our customer, so they can still buy our products without getting wet. This technique went well because some of our customers didn’t bring umbrella while it was raining, and when they wanted to go to our stand, they got panicked. So, we came to them and start our “ojek payung” service. G) Provide photobooth accessories When we know the time needed to prepare our product is quite long, we provide some photobooth accessories, so when the customer wait, they felt happy with our cheerful and happy ambience of carnaval. After they took some photos, we want their photos to be uploaded on our Instagram account. They also can ask us if they want their photos by our LINE official account. H) Charity Unpredictably and shockingly, one of customer who comes from Malaysia gave us Rp 100.000 ,-. At first, we thought it was a trap for us, so some of us run and “chase” them. But surprisingly, they told us that the money given should be used for charity. They asked us to buy our products from the money that had given us and give it to unfortunate people. We gave them 4 foods and 5 drinks and after that, we could see the bright face of unfortunate peoples. Our technique can be seen at the picture below. First, the customer comes and order their Poptato, as soon as they order, they have to pay first. Then, cashier(1) gives a note to “middle-man”(2) to give it to the pourer(3) or to the drink section. The chefs always cook, and they put the poptato on the desk for poptato. The pourer(3) can just take it and give the sauce as the customer’s order. After that, the pourer and a person from drink section give it back to the middle-man, so the middle-man can write “have a nice day” on the cup. 18 CHALLENGE EXPLANATION HOW TO SOLVE HOW TO IMPROVE LOCATION Based on our market research, we wanted to sell our product in front of Jessie James on Jalan Riau. We had already made a deal with The General Manager of Jessie James. The problem was unexpectedly the general manager of Jessie James suddenly asked Poptato to move to Cheap Outlet because there were already 2 stands at Jessie James. The first challenge that we have was while we are going to choose what product we wanted to sell, it spent not so little time because we were arguing what will be the best product that people will choose. The three companies (Maacie, Poptato, Chipoque) made an appointment to talk to the General Manager of Jessie James. After we discuss about the place, than it settled that the three of us stay on the same place. We have to research every place, not only at Jalan Riau, but also at Dago Street and Taman Lansia. We should give permission not only one place but also several place that we want to sell PRODUCT WEATHER In order to solve that problem, we decided to do brainstorming technique in our group, we conveyed our idea and opinion and wrote all of them. After doing brainstorming, we did the market research by spreading and interviewing people around jalan Dago, jalan Riau and Taman Lansia. From the weather challenge, we can learn that we have to be professional to move a threat into opportunity. Rain is also a blessing, because we can sell our product to people who are waiting in front of Jessie James. The last obstacle for us is, while selling on the second day, our main ingredient, potato is getting empty even though we have bought 40 kg of it before COO and CEO decided to restock 5kg of potato. The plan was running well, because our restock team, Alifa Masya and M. Andri Ronaza could come back to our stand before the main ingredient became really empty. We learned how to be agile whatever the situation is, we also learnt to be brave to make a decision. 20 8.Appendices List of partnerships A. So we provide accessories for them to take a photo at Poptato’s booth. When they take a photo and post it into their social media, we hope that their friends will be interested to come to our stand. It also makes a happy ambience A giant logo was printed to be sticked at our stand, but we can take the giant logo to promote our stand by walking around and shouting with this giant logo so people can see us because of the size and the colour. Whiteboard A big white board was also put near our stand, so our customers can write their opinion and advice for our evaluation. 7.
