About The Artist
When asked who her musical influences are, she
would go on and on about how, growing up, her
dad and grandmother have developed her talent
in music and how they steered her down towards
a musical path that she will forever love and immensely enjoy doing. To this day, her dad remains
her biggest critic. Aside from her father and
grandmother, she namechecks Regine
Velasquez, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion,
Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston,
Rihanna, Beyoncé and Chris Brown as
her musical influences.

after two years, the self-titled album proved to be
one of Philippines’ biggest
record in recent years as it
hit 9x platinum status, a
rare achievement even for
the more experienced artists in the Philippines. But it’s not only her album that
broke current Philippine records. One of
her chart-topping singles, I’ll Be There
goes down in history as the first ever
digital single to hit Double Platinum
status certified by PARI (Philippine
Association of the Record Industry).

ulie Anne San Jose was pretty much inescapable this year, her
bubblegum personality matched with girl-next-door confidence
and talent has the makings of the next Sarah Geronimo—the
manufactured teen queen embodying the typical Filipina mold—
morena, silent charmer, mahinhin, not exactly in that order. But there’s
something refreshing in Julie Anne San Jose that sets her million miles apart
from her less interesting
contemporaries. Her voice, surprisingly an
effective instrument that blends effortlessly in songs like “I’ll Be There” and her
charming Youtube cover of “Super Bass,”
straddles in between melismatic sweet
tooth and big-lunged power, and doesn’t
come off as too saccharine for an average

pop listener’s taste. But aside from those things, she can rap, act and dance, working
her onstage theatrics without having to turn base or crude to get there.

Julie Anne San Jose continues to hit high notes as her
self-titled debut album reaches the Diamond Record
status. As a result, the 20-year-old singer is now
the second female OPM singer to receive the said
honor. The only
other female
recipient of the
Diamond Record
award is Nina for her
Live album. They now join the
Eraserheads, Spongecola, Jose Marie
Chan, Freddie Aguilar and Christian Bautista as artists who have
also received Diamond Record awards for their albums that have
sold 150,000 units. As of 2013, the Philippine Association of the
Record Industry (PARI) uses the following standards: Gold Record
Award for 7,500 units sold, Platinum Record Award for 15,000
units sold, and Diamond Record Award for 150,000 units sold.

Let’s talk about your career- how did you get
started in the music world?
Ha! I guess I was born to make music!
J….but seriously, for as long as I can
remember, music has always been what defines me. I started singing when I was 2 and
a half years old. My grandparents actually
persuaded me to join different TV shows
and singing contests. I took voice lessons
when I was three, but it didn’t last very
long. I had to stop cuz I had to start school.
Left the music business for a good length of
time. I made my comeback when I joined
another TV (singing) competition. I was
12 years old then. That’s how it all started.
Till now I’m still here. Enjoying the ride.

Tell us about your hit song “Right Where
You Belong”, what is it about?
It’s a song about being far from loved
ones, and wishing that you’d be with them,
letting them know that even if you’re not
together, you still think about them and
they’re in your heart always. But what
makes it special, is that, the song is not just
about couples or lovers that are separated
by distance, it applies to everyone. Everyone can relate to it.

A variety of vibes that one can gravitate to the mood that grabs
them. The seven- track EP is a spectrum, a palette of colors that covers the vast variety of the artist’s diverse musical skills and personalities. The music is representative of her character but still bares the
unparalleled talent that is Julie San Jose.
Following the successful release of her two albums comes an incredible new collection of songs that showcases a genuinely organic and raw talent. An EP that’s ready to make a global breakthrough

I am Julie San Jose, a singer-songwriter. I am in an adventure, an exploration
of the different sides of my artistry. Let my humble beginnings, my repertoire
