PAGE 3 SCFFA NEWSLETTER Investigator: List of dishwashers that caught fire A class-action lawsuit claims that hundreds of homeowners have had dishwashers that spontaneously caught fire because of a defective design that the manufacturers have ignored for at least four years. The lawsuit specifically accuses Whirlpool and Sears, Roebuck & Co. of designing and selling dishwashers that the companies knew were defective as early as 2008. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is currently investigating, while the manufacturers have yet to issue a recall involving those dishwashers. Channel 3 News has combed through the lawsuit to identify the models specifically mentioned. Here's the list by brand and model number: Kenmore Kitchen Aid Model No. KUDS01DJSS0 Model No. 665.17584200 Model No. KUDP01 Model No. 665.16279400 Model No. KUDS01FLSS Model No. KUDP02CRBS2 Whirlpool Model No. KUDP01LWH2 Model No. GU1500XTLQ3 To file a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, you can either call (800) 638-2772 or visit SaferProducts.gov.
