Traditional Outdoor day camp
Out in nature, under the sun is how camp should be- and for almost 40 years we have been bringing that experience to campers from
all over the Bay Area and the world. Each week campers participate in a variety of traditional outdoor camp activities like arts & crafts,
scavenger hunts, camp songs, camp skits, nature walks, games, fishing and more. Other weekly highlights include hiking to a different
part of the island, beach time, kayaking, Friday BBQs, theme day competitions and our traditional shoe kick. Taking the ferry to and
from the island every day is just another exciting part of the day!

Mountain Ranch Living
Founded in 1930, the Bar 717 Ranch offers children ages 8-16 an opportunity to spend the summer on a beautiful mountain ranch.
Located in Northern California on 450 acres, the Ranch is surrounded by the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The Camp property
consists of mountains and meadows, rivers and ponds for swimming and fishing, creeks for exploring and miles of trails to discover
on foot or on horseback. Through Ranch activities, the camp program emphasizes taking responsibility for oneself and others in a
non-competitive, supportive environment. With the spirit of the pioneers, we work collectively toward the common goals of ranch
life: friendship, fun and fulfillment through communal effort, respect for each other and an applied work ethic. Campers may choose
freely from activities including horseback riding, backpacking, gardening, animal care, river swimming, homesteading, arts and crafts,
photography, riflery, music, drama, archery, blacksmithing, ceramics and much more.

Nature, Adventure Sports
Our mission is simple: To empower kids to choose an active, outdoor lifestyle.
These days, a lot of kids grow up surrounded by screens. They’re disconnected from the natural world, and from the joy of authentic
adventure. When kids get to experience adventure at a young age, it becomes a part of them. They come away filled with confidence,
enriched with newfound skills and launched into a lifetime of fulfilling outdoor adventure. At Avid4 Adventure summer camps, we
introduce kids to the power of the outdoors. Our Summer Camp for kids gives campers professional-caliber equipment and expert
instruction as they learn to bike, paddle, climb, hike and thrive outside.

A little bit of France lies on Canoe Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington state. Campers, ages 9-16, spend 2 or 3 weeks on
private 47-acre Canoe Island where French language and culture mingle with traditional summer camp activities. With only 50 campers
on the island, campers choose what sort of activities they want: theatrical and artistic, athletic and adventuresome or a combination.
Fondue dinners on the beach, treasure hunts across the island, swimming in the pool, boating to see whales, and learning to fence are
all a part of each session. Counselors from France share their culture and language, and the counselor to camper ratio is 1:5. Family
Camps are a good way for families to get to know the camp before their child goes alone for the first time.

Languages
The EFBA summer camps are in French, and are set up to ensure the continuity and complementary nature of our educational offering.
They are located in San Francisco - Berkeley - Mountain View - Santa Rosa.
Session dates: from June 22nd to August 12th 2016.
The EFBA French Immersion summer camps are not just daycare or summer classes, but also an opportunity for children to take part in
an unforgettable summer experience. The language is a tool for activities, games and exciting encounters, all geared towards satisfying
the creativity, imagination, and socialization of each child. Your child will become explorers, adventurers, artists and researchers in a
relaxed and fun atmosphere.
The camps take place from 9am to 3pm with the possibility of an early drop off between 7am and 9am and extended care from 3pm to
6pm.
Our camp counselors come from France or other French-speaking countries. They all are BAFA-certified (Brevet d’Aptitude aux
Fonctions d’Animateur) or equivalent. They are responsible, enthusiastic and have a mastery of the French language, leading the
children to express themselves exclusively in French. Each week focuses on a socio-cultural francophone theme, with activities related

Go Girls! is not just a summer camp. It’s a movement. We are igniting a Compassion Revolution by putting girls center stage. At Go
Girls!, rising first to sixth grade girls make plays, art, music, and media that we believe will change the world.Go Girls! is a girls-only
camp where campers learn and practice social and emotional skills through the arts.
Over two weeks, rising first through fourth grade girls practice theater, expressive arts, and music and make and perform their very
own play that promotes pro-social values. Older girls (rising fifth and sixth grade) at our media camp produce, edit, direct, and star in
their own short films. All the while, the girls are led by qualified, talented and friendly teaching artists and teen assistants.
Each day at Go Girls! drama camp, campers enjoy a combination of arts-based instruction, facilitated community building time, and
lots of free play. They participate in acting, music, media, dance and visual arts activities. They also play outside and take time to relax
and read. On the last day of the two-week camp, they perform in "the big show", which you can watch. You’re in for a treat! The show
is always an original and exciting theatrical experience which is often the highlight of your daughter’s time at Go Girls!
Each session of Go Girls! Camp and Go Girls!/Reel Stories is 2-weeks long and run June 20-August 19 in Oakland, Berkeley, San
Francisco, Alameda, and Palo Alto. Please visit GoGirls!Camp.com for more information.

Play based, "Traditional" summer camp experience
Mountain Camp Woodside is a traditional summer camp that offers both a sleep-away Resident Camp (for grades 2nd – 10th) and a
Day Camp (for grades K-10th) program and is nestled in the heart of beautiful Portola Valley, California on the 63-acre campus of the
Woodside Priory School.
Mountain Camp Woodside’s minimal technology, non-competitive program is designed to build confidence and independence, encourage friendships and healthy lifestyle choices. We offer activities like mountain biking, arts & crafts, soccer, swimming, archery and
outdoor survival. In today’s hectic, high-tech world, we believe a back-to-basics approach to outdoor recreation and plain ol’ fashion
"fun" is critical to building a child’s positive self-image.
A quality summer camp experience will provide education, challenge, achievement and acceptance. Mountain Camp Woodside’s
unique atmosphere allows children to learn in a fun and safe environment that encourages independence while nurturing lasting
friendships. From campfire songs and skits to the first time away from home, the camp experience can have a profound impact on a
child’s development.
Mountain Camp Woodside is accredited by the American Camp Association (http://www.acacamps.org/) and is a member of the Western Association of Independent Camps (http://www.waic.org/). We are dedicated to meeting the highest standards in the camp industry.
Our camp programs inspire campers to try new activities, build independence, make friends and take home memories that will last a
lifetime.
Mountain Camp Woodside camp sessions are one-week long and run throughout June, July and August. Many campers enroll for
multiple weeks or even the entire summer!

San Francisco Clinical Camp is an exciting opportunity to learn about psychology from professionals in the field. Based on a graduate
school curriculum, but adapted to high school students, this is a rich experience looking at a number of different facets in the field of
clinical psychology. For example, we consider our own subjectivity and how psychological defenses shift our subjective sense of self
and others. This is a combination of didactic, discussion, brief video clips all designed to engage and expand our understanding. We
want to make learning challenging and fun. SF Clinical Camp: MWF June 13-24. Advanced Clinical Camp MWF July 11-22.

Nature
Slide Ranch Day Camp provides children and teens a unique opportunity to experience the daily challenges and rewards of a working
farm through hands-on experience and nature exploration. Your child will leave Slide Ranch camp with lasting memories of being
immersed in and nourished by the natural world. This summer we have 10 camp weeks available for various age groups for children
5-13 years old. We also have 3 Junior Camp Counselor weeks for your teenager age 14-18 to attend and help teach.
Slide Explorers - Ages 5 to 8: The Slide Explorers camp weeks, geared for our youngest campers, abound in hands-on, sensory-rich
activities in a slightly shorter day format. Campers discover exciting tastes, smells, textures and colors in the garden and in simple
cooking projects. They make connections with and learn how to take care of animal friends. Days are full of fun and games, storytelling, songs, crafts, hikes, beach play and exploration. Children develop their understanding of the needs of animals and plants and
make connections with their environment and each other.
Ranch Rangers - Ages 5 to 13: Our all-ages camp weeks bring everyone together to enjoy the wonders of Slide Ranch. A great way
for siblings to attend camp at the same time, small groups are designated by age and guided in developmentally appropriate activities.
Junior Farmers - Ages 8 to 13: Older campers gain an in-depth experience and longer day format in the Junior Farmers camp weeks.
Campers participate fully in ranch life, practicing principles of organic gardening and animal care, and undertaking stewardship projects.
They contribute ideas towards shaping their experience, including making choices about more ambitious craft and cooking projects.
Guided by a Slide Ranch teacher and working as a team, campers investigate native plant and animal habitats and ocean/tidepool
ecology, and take on more challenging hikes to explore new terrain.
Jr. Camp Counselors - Ages 14 to 18: Slide Ranch offers Junior Camp Counselors (14-18) the opportunity to experience Slide Ranch
camp in a leadership role, assisting the Teacher-in-Residence in leading a group of Slide Explorers and being a role model for the
young campers. Junior Camp Counselors apply for the position by completing a questionnaire describing their interest and relevant
experience (application is online.) The first day of camp includes orientation and training to help prepare them for this role.

Our camp conforms to kids. Not the other way around. Instead of a rigid structure, we give our campers choice. Instead of teaching
kids the typical way, we give them tools and gentle guidance to help them become autodidacts, people who teach themselves. The
difference is subtle – and it’s profound.

aligned with California State Standards and accommodations to meet the needs of our unique population.
A newly added component of our summer program includes a daily peer social group, which emphasizes social-emotional development,

Wanderers offers week-long day and overnight camps for kids ages 6 – 14. While kids at other Bay Area camps are stuck in one place,
we spend our days touching tide pool starfish, finding huckleberries, spotting tule elk, playing among the redwoods, and camping in
spectacular National Parks like Lassen, Yosemite and Point Reyes. Team-building games, "place-based" learning, leadership exercises,
and an end-of-the-week challenge are all part of the fun!
Locations include Yosemite National Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Lassen Volcanic National Park. Our summer pick-up
and drop-off location is Julius Kahn playground in the Presidio Park. Wanderers provides all transportation, and hire some of the best
summer camp staff around. All staff are age 21 or older, have current CPR and Wilderness First Aid certifications, clean driving records
and backgrounds, and 2+ years leading groups of children in the outdoors. The camper-to-staff ratio is very small, around four-to-one.
Kurt, the founder and director, has over 20 years of experience guiding and organizing outdoor programs, and is usually one of the
instructors himself.

riding, and maintenance skills; take weekly field trips; and engage in a variety of off-the-bike enrichment programs all summer. Nonriders have their own camp - Two Wheelers Club - to learn how to ride. Spring classes and camps also available. Four Bay Area
locations: San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, and Walnut Creek. Come ride with us!
San Francisco 2016 Summer Camps begin 31 May and run through 26 August.
