At first, the company founders personally transported cargo documents from San Francisco to Honolulu by plane. This made it possible to begin customs processing of a ship's cargo before the actual arrival of the shipment, thereby significantly reducing waiting times in the harbor. Suuryksiköitä ovat kuorma-autot, perävaunut, kontit, vaihtokorit ja junavaunut. Maantiekuljetus tukee joustavasti ovelta ovelle -runkokuljetusta meritse, sisävesiteitse tai rautateitse. Intermodaalisuuden ohella puhutaan komodaalisuudesta, joka on sekä yksittäisen kuljetusmuodon tehokasta käyttöä että eri kuljetusmuotojen tehokasta yhdistämistä. Tehokkaassa kuljetusketjussa raha ei sitoudu varastoihin. Turvallisesti ja luotettavasti Lastin käsittelyvaiheiden väheneminen ehkäisee kuljetusvaurioita. Uudet tietotekniset ratkaisut parantavat kuljetusten seurattavuutta. Lisäksi kuljetusten turvallisuus on parempi kuin tavanomaisissa kuljetuksissa. Energiatehokkaasti Lähimerenkulkuun, rautateihin ja sisävesiliikenteeseen perustuvalla kuljetusketjulla voidaan hillitä kuljetusten negatiivisia ympäristövaikutuksia. Suurten kuljetusmäärien tehokas kuljettaminen parantaa energiatehokkuutta. Valitse intermodaalikuljetus! Tehokkaan intermodaalisen kuljetusketjun voi rakentaa myös ilman samaa kuljetusyksikköä bulk- ja irtotavarakuljetuksille lisäämällä kuljetusmuotojen välistä integraatiota, tehostamalla läpivirtausta ja käyttämällä aikataulutettuja laiva- tai junakuljetuksia.
