What do I need to weigh animals?
Today’s leading farmers recognise that live animal weighing is an essential
part of effective farm management. Well-informed management decisions
come from animal weight data that is easily obtained and accurate.
The animal performance system consists of two load bars and a weigh scale. It is an
innovative weighing system which is not only durable, but also reliable and easy to use.
The Gallagher weighing scales vary from a basic model (W210) to the EID compatible

The Gallagher weigh scales can be connected to the load bars and readers in order to store and process the
animal-specific data. This information can thus be used to make management decisions with regards to
the quantity and composition of nutrition, medical treatments, mob management, etc.

Weighing
Load bars and
platform
The Gallagher weighing system consists of a set of load bars which contain weight sensing load
cells and a weigh scale. The load bars are placed underneath a platform, crate or squeeze crush
and can weigh all types of livestock including cattle, hogs, horses, sheep, goats and exotics. Load
bars connect to the weigh scale via cables, and the weight measured by the load cells is sent to the
weigh scale’s digital display. All Gallagher load bars have ultimate corrosion resistance.

What do I need to read animal’s information?
Electronic Identification (EID) is the technology that allows the ear tag to transmit a unique animal ID
number to a reader. Each ear tag contains a chip that carries a unique identification number. The reader
communicates with the ear tag and registers that unique number.
This system will enable you to see which animals are performing and which animals are not.
An EID reader is used to read and record the number on the tag or bolus. The reader does this by energising
